Well I think lean implies skinniness. If you're described as being "lean", the word "skinny" likely applies as well. However, skinny people aren't necessarily lean. You can be skinny, but not be in good shape at all. Since twoodcc runs around 200+ miles per month, I'm sure he's in fantastic shape, and his abs just show through that 3% body fat he has.

Anyway, I'm like him, but a bit heavier looking, and I consider myself skinny and lean. I have a 6 (or 8) pack, and I don't do ab exercises at all. The pack actually shows up better while I'm running shirtless.

And don't bother waiting for the photos. They're not coming. ;)

No pics? Then I don't believe you. :)

Pure crap. This movie was an utter waste of time and money, to me it was a bunch of one liners strung together over a shallow plot and story mixed with lots of testosterone filled overacting.

I can't stand the current trend of shooting entire movies on bluescreen, it just looks fake and has absolutely no realism. Movies like Gladiator or the Lord of the Rings series at least achieved a good balance between CGI and real physical locations and sets. This movie didn't.

Personally for a movie to be interesting to me the story has to have some real depth with well developed characters and plots, this movie merely skimmed the surface, had no depth and was just a bunch of special effects sequences.

Totally disappointing in my opinion...

It most definitely had a plot. Pride was a big part of the plot: it was Leonidas' ultimate downfall. Xerxes also personified pride, as it ultimately (in the movie) lead to his downfall as well, though they referred to it as hubris. Yes, there were action sequences and a couple of one liners ... but I can think of many movies where the one-liners just make you cringe. Here, they were used quite well.

The scene where the Leonidas and his Spartans, knowing full well they were doomed, almost made me cry. It was very pretty; very sad.

Special effects were a big part of the movie, of course, that was part of the point. But I don't think it ever reached a point where the special effects replaced the actors. Rather, they were used to provide a backdrop. The colors in the sky changed constantly, signifying the mood and forshadowing what was to come. I think that was pretty neat. That, and all of the special effects were done on Macs. :p

If you've ever read the original graphic novel, you'll see that the movie follows it very closely. In some places frame by frame. And the graphic novel has a very clear plot.

You didn't like it, fair enough, not everyone will. But saying it had no plot is silly! :)

That's a brilliant example of a theme or motif...but not a plot.

you can call me skinny or lean....but the difference is i can bench press 220 pounds.......not many runners, or many skinny people can do that. i don't just run, i lift weights as well....

I don't think it's a bad thing, in this case, for this movie to lack an in-depth plot, or to lack character development, or any of the typical movie metrics. We're talking about retelling an event that happenned over a few days. How much could a person develop in that timeframe? Plus, the quality of these men was their standing their ground. That's almost antithetical to "development", by definition. I think there should be room for communicating the concept of someone already being a whole person, already knowing what to do, and simply executing on it.

He turned Ephialtes away because of Pride: the Spartans were the best, and didn't need his help. This lead Ephialtes to side with the Persians and betray the Spartans by revealing the mountain path by which the Persians could bypass the Spartans and surround them. It led to his downfall; if he had not turned Ephialtes away, he would not have had to sacrifice himself and his men.

Thus, his pride ultimately lead to him being betrayed.

No, he didn't turn Ephialtes away, he just said that Ephialtes could not fight in formation with them, but he was welcome to help them in other ways. If anything, it was Ephialtes' pride that was the issue, for not accepting a more appropriate, less front line role, in the conflict.

Betrayal or not they would have eventually lost. There numbers were down and Xerxes had far more men. He could have won even loosing 1000:1

woot! :D

i'll be picking up my copy tomorrow as well.

since i never got around to checking it out in the theater, i'm pretty stoked about seeing it for the first time, it looks really good!

Despite Transformers being very bloody loud indeed, i think 300 just pips it for the sheer level of volume.

Either that or the projectionist at the cinema we saw it at really liked the film and cranked the Amps!

"Holy thread revival, Batman!"

I've just finished watching 300 on Sky Movies - bloody awful film.
