In San Diego...

I switched from Sprint to AT&T. AT&T is way better for me than Sprint. Never had Verizon but when my Verizon friends call, they often sound horrible. I have to call them back to get a good connection. Also, my reception seems better than my friends on Verizon. I go to Tijuana and my AT&T signal is also better down there too.

I bet that 31% will drop once they find out how much more expensive the Verizon iPhone plan is, especially if they already have adequate at&t coverage.

Those with poor at&t coverage will move regardless.

My VZW plan is going to be the same, dollar for dollar, as my AT&T plan. What are you talking about?

$59.99 for 450 minutes and unlimited texts and $29.99 for unlimited data. that's what I pay today on AT&T.

I hope they leave for Verizon too. I want my bandwidth back and some competition-induced deals too.

I use both AT&T and Verizon, I have for years.

I'm very disappointed that the percentage of defectors is so low. I was hoping it would be more. Once some of the load is lifted off AT&Ts network, we'll enjoy some higher data speeds.

Also it will be very entertaining to hear fanboys complain about another carrier. They will find the grass isn't always greener... :)

I'm from the UK and have a quick question. After the iPhone came out, there was a fuss about it not being on Verizon growing larger ever since. What's so special aboutnVerizon? What about Tmobile and Sprint?

I think the real question is that how do people from[ie UK] put up with these constant Verizon threads?

I'm happy with my AT&T Service for now. :D Verizon can't match my employee discount even if they tryed. I work for AT&T which is why they couldn't match it :D

I thought this “forum” was FULL of Verizon apologists?

Once the v-iphone is out, then we won’t have to see any of these “coming to Verizon” threads and we’ll finally get to see the “iPhone sucks on Verizon” threads.

Not if you look at the results of the "will you switch to Verizon" poll results. This forum always leans VERY hard toward AT&T. Doesn't match the typical results from public polls I've seen published.

But yeah, the numbers always show those that "would" but may not actually follow through.

Expensive? I'm on the Droid X now and the plan I have is equivalent to my iPhone plan before, no tiered data, and I pay $10 less a month. I'm not going to deny that in some aspects Verizon are expensive though.

Ouch. Bought a droid x right as verizon is about to get the iPhone. Going to be a painful 2 years for you...

Actually I love my Droid X, and I got it on a 1-year, not 2-year contract, didn't make sense to go on the 2-year just to get $30 more off a subsidized phone.

Don't believe the hype.

The grass is always greener, until that grass is available and it's just as an expensive, corporate, fumbled up mess as the plot of land your currently on.

Switching contracts, especially if you have more than 1 line, is not easy. Some will switch, yes. But 30 of every 100? No way.

It will be less than at&t. It will also be tiered like at&t. No unlimited from what I hear. As far as 31%, I know of many people waiting for this. It's going to be closer to 40% IMO. As soon as Foxconn's new plant is at full capacity $$$ will flow. Don't count out another GSM carrier as well. :apple:

As I mentioned earlier I've used both Verizon and AT&T for years. In my case it's because I've been a phone enthusiast for some time. By using two carriers I get a wider choice of phones. As far as which is the best? I find them too close to call. I've enjoyed excellent coverage and service from both.

The "myth" that AT&T has such a horrible network is totally contrary to my experience. For the last eight years straight I've used a number of new BlackBerry work phones on AT&T without any problems. No issues with dropped calls or data slow downs.

Funny article, considering 83% of verizon customers switched to ATT just so they could get an iPhone :D Where do these drunk journalists / bloggers get their info, haha.

Where in particular in North SD are you talking about? I live in Carlsbad (Aviara area) and I get absolutely great reception.

I live just north of Black Mountain between the 56 and Fairbanks Ranch. I am within the city limits of SD.

Facts are facts? Well, the fact is that I get 5mbit download speed where I live through ATT so your survey means nothing to me. I love when people say flat out "AT&T isn't as good" when it's so obviously a case by case basis.

I am happy for you and your good connectivity with ATT. But for many of us (hundreds of thousands and the abundance of articles, news reports and jokes on SNL and the Daily Show about ATT's connectivity issues) who expect decent service in large metropolitan areas and do not get it, well, we just live in a different world, I suppose.

visual voicemail?

Historically, such surveys have been off by a factor of 2 or 3, simply because people often say what they wish they could do, instead of what they actually end up doing.

Also, the 31% breakdown is 13% Very Likely, 18% Somewhat Likely.

Taking it all into account, we'll probably see more like 10-15% actually jumping ship, and I'd bet many of those are ex-Verizon users who left just to get the iPhone. In any case, it's still millions.
I actually agree with you.

I love how people blast AT&T's coverage and reliability, as well as their decisions to do tiered data. First of all I would looove to see how Verizon's network handles millions of users coming out of nowhere and sucking their network dry. AT&T has historically been about quality over quantity. While it's true it sucks when I go diving and on the coast I sometimes don't get reception where my Verizon friends do, however it's wonderful when I'm in the city (which I am 99% of the time) My 3G speeds blow Verizon's out of the water, and I can talk and use web at the same time :) . And it's also nice when my edge connection is so much faster than my friends (which I actually found surprising). And i guarantee Verizon will switch to tiered data, regardless of whether or not they get the iPhone (which I seriously doubt they will). Long story short there is still 72% of people who have said they are "more than satisfies" with their AT&T service, so good riddance to the more realistic 28% of people who might jump ship, more bandwith and less complainers for us. :D

AT&T FTW
