I would love for it to start off with 32GB, but I don't think it will happen. The 4S will more than likely be reduced to 8GB, much like the current iPhone 4. 16, 32, and 64....though I know some people who are hoping for a 128GB iPhone.
I am happy with a 16, because I offload photos onto my Mac. Though I plan to record a lot of video, especially with a couple of trips coming up, I may want to get at least a 32
Question is, what is their cost relative to 64GB this time last year?
A better question would be how much testing has Apple done with 128 GB flash memory, and is it enough to deem usable in an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad, while being cost effective at the same time?
I was always about the lowest amount of storage (for price purposes) until I purchased the 4S 32GB (because 16 was out of stock and I wanted it THEN) with the improvement of the pic/video I take so many more - which has caused me to fill up the 32GB space - I really hope the 5 starts at 32.
Like others have said - 16 seems most likely.

I think so
They just added a 64 GB, they didn't lower prices on the current capacities. That's what the OP is asking.
Here are some graphs of flash memory prices, from a bit before the 4S release till now:

Is that enough of a drop to compel Apple to move to 32/64 GB? I have no idea, but it is interesting that the 64 has essentially halved in price from last summer. A $299 64 GB would be insanely great, but I don't think it'll happen quite yet.
Of course, if Apple really wanted to, they could increase the capacities irrespective of the price drops--they already have insane profit margins.
if they're gonna scrap the 16gb and make the 32gb model the standard, you can rest assure that it will still cost $299 and 64gb model $399 subsidized. This is the same company that is gonna charge $10 for an adapter.
Do you have an MI account? Can you pull the pricing for the 128GB NAND MLC? I'm sure we most likely won't see a 128GB iPhone this year, but I'm still curious.
Apple will never make the entry price point of the new iPhone $299. What an absurd notion.
iPad 4 in March 2013 will have 32/64/128gb.
iPhone in September 2013 will have 32/64gb for $199/$299.
Don't see flash prices for a single 128gb chip going down enough for iPhone 2013 to get that.
Maybe 2014!
You have a better Crystal Ball then the rest of us ?![]()
Not happening.
Prices per Gb for flash are around $1 a Gb, and since the iPhone needs a single chip (unlike the iPod which has 2), a 128Gb chip would be very expensive (more than just ~ $128).
Apple wouldn't take the margin hit to pay ~ $50+ more per phone in production, unless they offered a $499 device.
I could expect a $0 4 8Gb and maybe a $99 4S $16Gb, but there won't be an iPhone 5 with 32Gb for $199, and so forth.
$0 for 8gb iPhone 4
$99 16gb iPhone 4S
$199 16gb iPhone 5
$299 32gb iPhone 5
$399 64gb iPhone 5
