You have a better Crystal Ball then the rest of us ?

iPad 4 in March 2013 will have 32/64/128gb.

iPhone in September 2013 will have 32/64gb for $199/$299.

Don't see flash prices for a single 128gb chip going down enough for iPhone 2013 to get that.

Maybe 2014!

Please. You know we're all speculating here.

He wasn't speculating. He was making a iron clad statement  ;)

Same exact scenario that I had. I wanted a 16GB White AT&T iPhone, and all they had was the 32GB, so I went ahead and bought it. Very glad I did as I have somehwere around 20-22GB worth of Apps/Videos/Pictures on the phone. I would have hated to constantly have to deleted pics and vids, and always be worried about how much (very little) space I had left.

Unfortunately, there is still a large segment of users like my Dad who use just a few apps, and don't take many pictures, so 16GB is more than sufficient for them.

In terms of incremental cost, I'm sure it's not that much more for 32GB of NAND memory that 16GB, and that is where they really get a lot of their profit margins from I imagine.

It may cost them $5-10 more from 16GB to 32GB - you think?

It's what I firmly believe. I think that what I said will be how it plays out, if I'm wrong I'm wrong.

But until then I will say what I want. ;)

Not happening.

Prices per Gb for flash are around $1 a Gb, and since the iPhone needs a single chip (unlike the iPod which has 2), a 128Gb chip would be very expensive (more than just ~ $128).

Apple wouldn't take the margin hit to pay ~ $50+ more per phone in production, unless they offered a $499 device.

I could expect a $0 4 8Gb and maybe a $99 4S $16Gb, but there won't be an iPhone 5 with 32Gb for $199, and so forth.

You apparently skipped over Cougarcat's post showing the price of 32gb and 64gb NAND flash. Don't confuse assembled SSD pricing for the contract pricing Apple will pay for raw parts.

From here on out I'll be buying the largest capacity.

I've decided to do this, 64gb appears to be the sweet spot for me in terms of iPhone.

Would ideally like a 128gb iPad though, for those holidays when I am like "I want to take more tv shows with me..."

yeah, that's probably gonna be like $49.99 w/ 2 yr contract.

Probably not.

Apple has never sold at that price point. We see some of those offers now because they re clearing out inventory. It will be $99.

I think I trust multiple sources, certain ones being far more reputable, for such data:

NAND prices rising:

NAND supply starting to tighten:

http://in.reuters.com/article/2012/08/13/us-micron-ceo-idINBRE87C0TJ20120813

NAND supply reduced through August:

This considered, I'm not disagreeing with what was posted. In fact, my analysis used his ~$1 per Gb for NAND, but as you can see, prices are not going to continue falling. They decreased a bit over the past year or so, but will remain stable.

Where are you getting your $1/gb price?

And prices rising or staying steady going forward is not the number to look at. You need to check cost this year vs cost during the 4s manufacturing so you can compare Apple's cost.

I think so

haha, being apple, don't even think about it. Apple loves their profit margin with the iphone; they just want that cash pile to grow even faster since they are losing customers to samsung now.

I really want it but it'll be quite steep seeing as I have to buy it unlocked from the Apple Store if I want it..

Wow.. 128GB of memory on a phone! Sounds pretty insane. That's like the size of one of my external hard drive. I have a 64GB iPhone at the moment. Certainly won't object to having 128GB though. I can put in more videos into my phone.

1080P video recordings take up a lot of storage space...

I had a few videos and my 4S 16gb packed up fast.

Why would you want a 64GB iPhone? There isn't even file management.

Exactly. You don't need file management. It does it for you. I don't need I worry about where I put that picture or go looking for it because... It's in the pictures app.

And 64gb can easily be filled with music.

Given that the 16GB model makes up a great part of their sales I don't see it going away any time soon. I think 64GB is going to be the max amount of memory this year as well.
