I have a 64 GB iPod Touch and dumbphone that will soon to be replaced with a 32 GB iPhone 5S (Space Gray). Why am I downgrading the storage? Cost. I could justify the $100 from a 5C to a 5S for the upgraded camera and future proofing, but much harder to justify another $100 just for storage.

So to prepare, I realized that I can happily manage my music and podcast library to a reasonable size with smart playlists, I don't like watching videos on a small screen anyway so it was easy excluding them, and I deleted a boatload of apps that I never use. I expect to still have a few gigs free space to spare for taking photos and videos, and plan to sync them so I can delete them off the phone often to free up space.

Good luck!

So, which model did you purchase and what was your reasoning?
64GB. Simple: Cannot upgrade.

I also have Verizon with unlimited LTE... and I only stream my music from iCloud now. iTunes match has been awesome, no more syncing BS and I have 50GB of music all the time from anywhere.

So where does my usage come from? Apps and photos. I would have bought 128GB if I could have. Normally I end up with about 40+GB of crap on my phone.

I was REALLY tempted to get the last gold one which was 64GB on launch day, but I stayed disciplined and stuck with my usual 16GB (space grey obviously)

I just don't need a lot of space. I don't own a lot of music and any photos or videos I take immediately go into me Picasa albums. I've never used more than 8-10 GB consistently so for me it's like burning cash to pay Apple's ridiculous markup for flash storage.

64GB Space Gray had iPhone 5 64GB.

I was only using 21GB, so I didn't really need it, but I was in line for 3 hours and not thinking clearly.

I had a 32GB iPhone 4 and then a 64GB iPhone 5 and I went for the 64GB 5S (in space gray).

I have almost 10,000 songs in my iTunes library not to mention apps and photos and stuff like that. 32GB was too constraining and even though I can't fit all my music on my 64GB I use a bunch of smart playlists to fill it with music I want to listen to. Even though I only have about half my collection with me I don't feel like I'm missing much.

I've always had 32GB but this time it was only going to cost me an extra $6 a month to have 64GB so I went for it. I have a heap of music and videos so it gives me the freedom to have a little more stored on my iPhone.

64gb just for piece of mind. If i need the extra space I will have it and not have to worry about it.

How is the 64gb resale horrible when it's only $100 more for 32 more gigs? if anything the 32gb is the lame buy.

smh you guys make it sound like you're losing a ton of dough. lol

My problem with the 32GB is that its the worst value. You pay $100 for another 16GB of ram, or $200 gets your 48GB more RAM from the base 16GB model.

So the additional RAM costs $6.25 per GB for the 32GB or $4.17 per GB with the 64GB model. But then $200 more is a lot of money, so I stick with the base 16GB model :)

My 16GB is basically empty anyways, I am using 5GB currently. I only have free apps installed - no games, no movies - I use my 64GB iPad for those. As for music, no music stored on my phone either - I use SiriusXM app, Pandora, Spotify. As for pictures, I consider taking pictures with a phone an abomination :) Always have a camera with me - currently a Sony RX100 Mark II. It has WiFi, so I can transfer pics wireless from the camera to my iPhone to share online if I don't want to wait till I get home.

64.

I'm a recovering app addict. Between apps I use occasionally, a couple movies, some music and tons of photos, I filled up my 32 GB 4 pretty quickly. A little more money, but worth it not to have to juggle content.

In my opinion, if you're going to buy the 32gb you might as well spend the extra $100 for the 64gb. That second $100 gets you double the space that the first $100 gets you (i.e 16-->32 = 16gb jump, 32-->64 = 32gb jump). At current flash memory prices though, there aren't words to describe how big of a ripoff these upgrades are. Unfortunately, if you need the space you're stuck with it.

16GB is too small, and it isn't worth the time to quibble over extra 100 on top of the 32gb to get the 64GB. I do end up crossing over 32GB so it just saves me time in not having to manage space on the device.

I went from an 8 GB iPhone 3G to a 64 GB iPhone 4S.. It's less than half full, but I'd be without much room with anything less.. I'm sticking with 64 GB on the iPhone 5S

I'll be getting a 64 once they come down to a reasonable price*. I'm currently using a 32 GB 4S, and I'm often running into the limit. There's therefore no question for me, 64 it is!

*Apple hasn't bothered to sell the 5s here officially yet, so all of the local prices have an "import markup" on them at the moment.

Edit: Apple has added a "Buy Now" button to the NZ site. It currently 404s but it looks like things are moving :)

64gb

I picked up the 64GB. I carry around all of my music, and didn't want to have the extra step of 128K conversion for over 3000 tracks.

Might be a tiny thing, but I figured what the heck. I got good trade in on my old phone(s) so it wasn't that huge a deal.

Also nice to have the space to put a movie or a few tv shows on for the kids on plane rides or car trips if need be. Normally we bring the iPads along for that, but this gives us a nice option to travel lighter.

64 GB, mainly because it was the only size available in the color I wanted. I'm not upset though, since I only had about 3GB of wiggle room with the 32 4S I was coming from.

For the price, though, I'm really hoping they raise the bar with the 6 or 6S next time around. >.<

I had a 16 GB 4S and I just got a 64 GB 5s. I was tired of only getting to have some of my music, having to take photos off, and only having some of my apps on my phone. I was going to just get a 32 GB because that is what I had saved up for, but I decided to sell my 4S and put that money towards a 64 GB.

64Gb, just like my 4s. I would have gotten 128Gb if it was offered sinceI only have 15Gb free. I have a LOT of music, and work in an area where I can't stream anything. I refuse to manually manage my library as I would be swapping out songs WAY too often. For me, it's all or nothing, so I get the largest model offered.

64 GB. I love having extra space. I have 30.7 GB available currently. It's better to have extra than not enough.
