Leopard worse than Tiger!!!

IMHO, Leopard has more flaws than it does improvements.

Stacks has crippled the way I access all my Applications and Documents. The new side bar makes access to shared folders & files less efficient. The new Dock is an ugly, hard to read and requires binoculars to see what programs are open. (give us back our arrows!). The new folder icons, although nicely designed, simply don't follow the design of the rest of the OS and that aside, they make location of enclosed files and folders hard, due their difference being far to subtle.

Having used Apple computers since since my first Mac Plus, I consider myself a loyal fan. I'm sad to say, on this occasion Apple has simply "tarted up" Tiger. Yes there are a few "cool things" but on the whole this OS isn't a worthy successor to Tiger. 10.4 and a half

Nobody is forcing you to use stacks. Just dont use it then. The doc can also be enlarged..so look..theres 2 of your issues solved. haha

Enlarging the dock would suck. I can't upgrade at the moment, and looking at the bad GUI "improvements" people report, I'm happy to stay with Tiger.

i can't believe apple calls it a unix system and then cripples such important options like nested folders in dock. there are pro-users too.

let's hope they bring back a third option with an update soon (fan, grid AND nested folders).

as for the dock. just do the terminal variable posted here many times that enables the 2d dock. much better.

10.2 - 10.4 have been so well designed that I think Apple has reached a point where the OS is getting cluttered and busy. I think they have also lost their vision regarding the GUI. I don't want people to think this is a BAD OS. It is NOT. My post was simply stating that any OS that was going to follow Tiger has really big shoes to fill and IMHO Apple hasn't quite done this with Leopard.

I think it's very sad that users who disagree have to resort to such petty and pointless sledging.

Well I for one would rather have a "tarted up" Tiger than a "tarted up" Windows XP. Yeah, Leopard has some issues, but even with those problems it's far better than Vista ever dreamed of being. Just give Apple time to work things out and all will be right in the world again.

I agree that it's faster! The OS feels really snappy. But is it good enough to be 10.5 or should this simply be 10.4.11? As one of the reviewers said" the software is evolutionary, NOT revolutionary. I think they have tried to play Microsoft's game; see transparent menu bar and Dock instead of doing what they do best.

I love leopard. I don't know why people are complaining about stuff. For example i love the new dock and the little blue lights, I can see them clearly and my dock is put on very small. Stacks are ok for me, I don't mind them, a stack within a stack would be awesome though.

It's drag and drop with Leopard too - just drag folders, etc to Places to see them show up

Maybe its just my dock, but the whole zooming icon thing as you move across the dock isn't very smooth, actually its pretty crap. It stutters so bad. Tiger was smooth as. Its not my machine btw.

As for the OS, man its a new improvement with new features. If it worked the same and looked the same as Tiger then i'm pretty sure they would've call it TIGER and not LEOPARD. Deal with it. You cant release a whole new OS with a different name and have it look identical to the one its replacing. Steve isn't retarded. I'm not trying to have a go at you but seriously man, no one forced you upgrade. The Waaambulance is on the way.

BTW, maybe its just me, but I would've thought that a Tiger would kick a leopards ass in a fight... ? LoL

Wow, I'm feeling lucky. I love Leopard, it's a nice upgrade to Tiger. I think people get used to doing something in a particular way and when they UPGRADE and it changes they get all out of sorts. Give it a bit of times folks, all your problems will be solved and you'll be able to enjoy the new stuff in Leopard AND do things the way you did in Tiger.

I agree with you to a point except the comment about Unix. What have nested folders got to do with Unix? Apple has not crippled any Unix based features. They are all still available via the terminal as they were in Tiger. The GNU compiler tools are included with Xcode with some very nice features so I am really struggling to understand exactly what Unix features Apple has crippled.

Thanks for that! I've been dragging into the bottom of the Toolbar but NOT into the Places Menu. Am I the only one who found it frustrating that Apple removed the Movies, Music and Pictures from the Toolbar as a selection option?

Oh yeah, and I said this in a another thread, but I want to share it here as well. The quickiest way of switching between the 2d and 3d dock is by keep these simple automatic actions in your dock. No need to bother with third party software. I keep these actions in my downloads stack. (Picture and download below)

OS X is fine, guys. It's now all about the apps that run on it.

It's a matter of personal preference so only you can answer that question. Personally I think Leopard is an upgrade over Tiger.

Here's a copy of the feedback E-mail I sent to Apple.

"Please get rid of Stacks or at the very least give us back the option to add hierarchical folders to the Dock. Can you also please give users more control of the transparency of the Menu Bar. Can you please add an option to replace the "small light" with the black arrow used in Tiger. The current lights are almost impossible to see when the dock is small. Can you also please give us the option to display the Dock WITHOUT the reflection.

Finally, Can you please allow users to change the font and image size of the contents of the sidebar. Many older users find this very hard to read."

These seem to be the biggest issues users currently have with Leopard. In Apples defense these issues are not big. But they are big deal breakers from many people.

Most of the OS upgrade is "under the hood" and there is ample reason there for buying and upgrading your machine. Just because all you seem to be aware of is the few features you can see with your eyes (like the new dock, stacks, etc.), doesn't mean that that's all there is to Leopard.

Firstly, the original poster calls the OS a regression because of a couple of things he does not like. Wow.

Secondly, I think Apple just need to add another option to the Stacks context menu - View as menu, which would then just behave like a folder.
