Now do the Harmony Elite....

I was going to print out this and then just attach it to my harmony

This would also work for the Apple remote if you want something smaller
Yep, I’ve designed this with ATV remote in mind. Just download, it’s free!

Another thing to keep in mind is that, due to the orientation of the AirTag in the case, the loudness of the built-in speaker may be reduced.

Surely they've got it backwards? Shouldn't the white plastic side of the AirTag be facing outwards, for better signal strength and volume? The battery cover is also exposed if you have the shiny side outwards.

The remote itself should have been compatible with FindMy, assuming it isn't.

Also, will AirTags be a good solution for this since we now know the tracking ability can't be shared among family members? Seems like a remote-finding solution should respond to a request from anyone in the household.
Perfect way to offload responsibility. "Honey, I bought and setup the AirTags, so in exchange they're paired to your phone so any time the kids need to find it from now until the end of eternity, they'll come to you. Thanks!" :D

I've been thinking about sticking my Apple remote onto an old iPhone box and wrap it with Duct-Tape on the bottom end, to make that darn thing easier to hold and not so damn sensitive. Might just as well duck-tape in an Airtag :p

Do people still lose their remotes? 😆
A tiny frictionless metal and glass rectangle......yes, yes they do.

I agree with those that say it doesn't need the U1, if it adds expense. Dont know why people are angry about people wanting it though, it would certainly be a nice to have.

What it should absolutely have had is a tiny speaker like in the watch. So it can at least beep if requested from the FindMy app or the remote app etc. You can Ping your iPhone from FindMy or from Watch, why not the remote? That would solve the vast majority of lost remote issues.

I guess I'm in the minority here, in that I've never lost my Apple TV remote. Is there really a pandemic level number of people losing their ATV remotes that want tracking devices on them, or built in?
Me too I guess. I generally really like the AppleTV remote but my few complaints about it was how slim and small it was, never that it was easily lost. Even with how much I like the remote I have to admit the new remote is much better and I have ordered one... for really 3 reasons, it is thicker, it's all-aluminum body and it has a mute button and honestly, I didn't realize how much I missed the mute button till I didn't have one.

do people still use a physical remote and not the remote app on the phone? I lost my remote a while ago and haven't even really bothered to look for it

I'm just going to assume they are planning to update it for the new remote, since the old one is so much worse than the new one that nobody in their right mind isn't planning to replace it. I just had one stop working last night. The new one can't arrive fast enough. But I'll just have to use my phone until May 21.

Printed one out myself. Works pretty dang well. Only issue... our two 6 year olds now hide the remote on purpose so we can find it. :)

It’s draining, all of these smaller lost opportunities to go “oh, how cool!” had we discovered that a mere flick of a button on our Watch or iOS device labeled “Find Remote” was incorporated into these remotes. It’s incredibly intuitive and would have added pennies to the product cost- so worth it. I can’t count how many times I’ve used my watch to find my phone. YMMV.
