When they give me 3g and 64 gbs of space I'm on board!

64gb in a cell phone? i think we're getting a little too greedy and impractical.. people are forgetting that its really a cell phone. Same goes for 3G, just the fact of having even "2.5g" real life internet in your pocket wherever you go should be appreciated..

TheYankees1903 makes a good point that I've raised before - Apple has a tough positioning strategy here. As soon as they announce a 3G phone, sales of the existing phone will plument. If you discount the phone in response to the annoucement, then you have the iPhone and the iPod Touch at the same or similar price points.
True and I believe that once they get FCC approval (months ahead of time) that is public information so will be out in the wild right away, hurting current sales (even though the general public might not be aware of it, unless they really watch apple like we all do). That is kind of a pain for apple, but I don't think there is a way of getting this.

I have been waiting for OLED or AMOLED screen for a long time for iPhone....
Hopefully they do incorporate this screen in the coming iPhone....

This might help to increase the battery life as 3G is energy consuming.

hope 3G iphone hit the store on June.... Many are waiting... 10 millions order may not be enough for a year supply Apple...

OLED?!?!? Hahaha dream on!

You people are insane to think that Apple can actually crank out a 3.5" OLED screen in the next few months. I'm sure that if they did, they sure as hell are not going to sell it at the prices you HOPE for them to keep them at. Big name companies such as Sony and Samsung that have already dealt with this technology are up to the day still struggling on harnessing its true capabilities.

There are only a few "pocketable" consumer products out there that are actually using OLED displays, and they are nowhere near 3.5 inches! If you look at one of the latest Samsung MP3 players, the YP-U3, it has an OLED display, but its only a 4-line word display and is just a little over an inch big. Samsung had also released another OLED product, the SCH-A930 cellular phone, and the only OLED portion is the outer LCD with again is only 4-lines(!!!), they weren't brave enough to make the larger internal screen OLED also. Creative is spitting out another MP3 player, but it only capable of rocking a 1.7" display. If you were paying attention to TVs, did you remember how hard it was for Sony to spit out that 11-inch (again, 11-inch!!!) OLED TV that costs thousands of dollars, just for that small amount of screen.

I myself have a product that uses OLED, my Nokia 8800 Arte. Nokia only has two products that are using OLED, the Nokia 8800 Arte and the 7300 Prism, and the screens are barely 2 inches big, how much do you think they cost? The Prism retails for $700 with a 1.8 inch display, while my Nokia 8800 Arte retails for $1500 with a 2.0 inch display.

1.0 - 2.0 inch OLED displays are what is happening at the moment because OLED displays are still in its baby stages, and do you think impending Apple converters are going to be happy to think their phone's display has a limited lifespan? For those that are not too familiar with OLED, OLED still has a limited lifespan, and Apple does not want to get hit with a big lawsuit when all of a sudden a regular consumer finds out they shelled out $400 - $600 on something that will expire, not just a battery, but the freakin display

3G, yes, I see it coming, but stating that OLED is coming, is clearly making this PAGE 2 material. I would so love for OLED to get into the iPhone this year, but I know that is just beyond question and not attainable at the moment, especially if you people want it to hold at $400, you must be crazy! A 3.5" inch OLED display will cost nearly 1.5 - 2.0x as the current unit itself.

I don't think that 64gb is feasible right now, but it's not greedy to ask for it. In any other phone it would be, but the iPhone is a full-blown iPod.

Would the next gen iPhone have to go through an entirely new FCC approval process or could they just request to update the specs & technology thereby shortening the cycle or tipping there hand?

Good question, anyone else know what other cell phone companies have to go through?

If I'm not mistaken, since they are adding a 3G radio inside the iPhone, it would need to go through the FCC approval. I'm assuming that they are going to announce it at WWDC and release it late summer. We'll see, I already have my money saved to buy a 3G iPhone. 16GB would be alright, it doesn't matter.... I have 60GB of music anyways. ;)

haha dude, Chinese MP3 manufacturer Teclast had introduced its M30 featuring 2.8-inch 320 x 240 AMOLED display 2GB $69 and 4GB $82

Think outside the box but may be you haven't travel around the world.

Now you dont need to wonder will Apple have the technology or not

You should wonder how large is the premium will Apple charge for wooing local consumer who lack of global view

Thank you sweet Jesus! I'm going to miss my pearl thought... But not too much!

I don't think apple with pre-announce the new iPhone as sales on current phones will drop off. My guess is they will announce and release within a few days. Like updates to MacPro, MacBook Pro, etc they announce and release updates.

Apple doesn't charge a premium for hardware. What you are paying for is the software. The ease-of-use.

Jobs has stated over and over again that Apple is a software company. And software is much more powerful if designed for specific hardware.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED :D I have been waiting to buy this baby for a year and a half since the beginning of the rumors of the initial iPhone.

I'm not expecting OLED although it would of course be awesome. I just really really want 32GB. I don't think 64GB is doable yet. Also an upgraded camera with a flash because I am not going to buy a new digital camera, my iPhone will be my digital camera from now on :)

Other things that would be nice but I am not holding my breath, iChat and front facing camera, GPS, software features like email multiple pics and save pics from emails, copy paste, search, finder, etc...

This is going to be awesome, i seriously wouldn't be surprised if there ends up being huge crowds of people on day one like when the iPhone launched. Apple is going to do it again :D

that's a good view to explain to yourself....

when apple gather their parts from China and assemble them in Taiwan... I don't see why a macbook cost 1099 and a macbook pro cost 1799

when apple position its products as high end with its successful marketing campaign

you buy it and feel cool and other might feel you're cool and have good taste...

whether you think you're buying a luxury, better software or cool gadget...
you still paying a premium because other manufacturer could sell at lower price... :)

There's no way this can come out this year and be "above and beyond the original 10 million". They aren't going to sell non-3G iPhones AND 3G iPhones.

What s/w will that competitor use? I suppose Linux if you want to keep that discounted price on the hardware. But does linux = os x in terms of features and ease of use?

I'll let you be the judge.

Also, learn about the benefits of vertical integration as it applies to Apple's hardware/software strategy.

As of today my Pearl is my phone for China only. Trust me you won't miss it much!

I'm going to catch flack for this, but Kevin Rose is hearing the same rumor and to top it off - not only is it 3G, it's also has built in GPS. Take it for what it is.

I'm in wait and see mode, no need to geek out too much. I sure hope they also have a Touch update.
