It most likely will not be anounced until Macworld 2009.. Its To early for them to anounce/release it because it is right after christmas and everybody just got one.. it would simply not be right to do that to the consumers:apple::apple:

Mentioned every where!

This hasn't really been mentioned - it's simple, but I would LOVE if Apple upped the capacity of the Touch. I've been iPodless for about 2 years (various reasons) - I've been waiting for the Touch to reach at least 30GB before I pick it up. :D

Maybe not in this thread but what you want has been mentioned every where. In fact I think it is the number one request, with Bl;uetooth just a smidgen behind that.

More importantly I think Apple will have to up capacity real soon if they expect to rent videos or continue to sell them. For many people the sizes of the current Touches are not that bad, if Music is your only media. Just as many people (maybe a lot more) however have much more than music that they want to put on the units.

This is when 8 or 16 GB starts to seem really small. That for the average user. The record collector is another matter all together and frankly you probably couldn't satisfy them no matter how much you expanded the Touch.

Then we have the Touch as PDA user. That is the person that installs and uses a lot of applications.

So in a nut shell the demand is there!!!

I would like a 3G iPhone, i think it would work well with the market too.

Actually I think Apple will eventually do 3G but I see 3G as pretty much a dead end technology. What Apple really needs to do is a WiMax capable "phone". That is go directly from Edge and cell technology to a WiMax VoIP alternative.

In the end everybody will be better off with the better performance.

Why would they wait 2 years to upgrade the phone? Besides all the consumers who received an iPhone in Christmas 2008 would be upset and in your words would not be the right thing to do.

You know that there is a pretty large UMTS (3G) world market outside of USA?

Interesting stuff.

I'm one of the iPhone procrastinators I'm afraid - I want one badly, and 3G isn't all that great (almost no coverage with O2 and you can forget 3.5G, and it's a battery guzzler) but my current contract doesn't run out until.. May. I'm also going to be lacking in money until around then. All and all it'd be more sensible to wait.

Liking the sound of the little laptop but ironically after waiting all this time for a replacement for my 12" I'd be more tempted by something with more screen estate.
