All jobs is going to show is a faster tower, a quad athlon!
I think that would be a stupid move. Steve is smart enough to know (and yes for sure he read those rumor forums as well) that we expect something spectacular this time. He won't let us downThe mini super laptop or something else surprising will come! He will use the "one more thing" trick again!
I feel it!

1gb for <$7 is fairly cheap, all the better that it's reusable, more durable, and convenient.
It's cause they're not the favored method of file transfer anymore. In an ultraportable, it is almost illogical because no matter what Apple does, they can't make the stupid thing take up absolutely no space. It HAS to take up space, and space is of the utmost importance. Even if it's a slim tiny ridiculous optical drive, that TINY space could have been room for something more useful. There is no way on earth you could convince anyone otherwise. Period.
I don't debate the occasional usefulness of CDs. And in your situation, sounds like there isn't much else that would work as well. But you're just making flimsy excuses as to why an optical drive should be in an ultraportable when it sounds like there are ways that would satisfy your problem without angering the majority of people who probably do not want one built-in.
1. No, more like I'm still in tune with and think about the general public and not just with the young, rich, tech-savvy people.

As I said, not everyone will allow non-employees into their networks. They usually configure their machines for their networks.
As I said, one flash drive is cheap, but not when you start buying 10+. It adds up.

As I said, the $7 per flash drive adds up when you have to purchase large quantities of them. I would not consider them a replacement for a CD until they reach...say 99 cents for a 1GB model. Then, I can see more people giving them away like a CD.
I wouldn't mind having a bay for the optical drive as an option as someone suggested earlier in the thread. Maybe have a regular notebook hard drive and extra battery in its place if Apple is really going with a 32GB SSD drive. I think that would settle this for both of us.![]()

First of all, you just need one. Give it to your customers at the end of your presentation, and they can mount the drive and copy the file in a minute or two, and give it back.
If you're so worried about this being so expensive, perhaps it's time to ditch the powerbook and invest in an easel, flip book, and markers.

Take it for what it's worth, but Jim Goldman just reported it could be on shelves by the end of May. Also mentioned ipod Touch production is being increased to meet demand, and that the ultra-portable macbooks will be introduced at Macworld.
Go easy on me- this is my first post.
Not to diss Apple, but the Macbook is just not a great product in my opinion. And since this is the only 13" option Apple have it is hard to accept. I own a Macbook myself and I dislike it.

Bas
