I own both iPhone and Bold...

mainly texting (most important)

If you do a lot of instant messaging then hands down the Bold is it. Its first and foremost a communications device, and gives you a feeling of instant connectivity when you're using it, which makes it incredibly addictive. You've been warned!!

I love the iphone too, but for some things it's extremely frustrating. For instance I had to purchase a $16 IM application (Beejive) just to keep me logged into Yahoo Messenger if I switched applications. The lack of push notifications means I get a new mail message everytime someone pings me. Problem is, I don't know if its an email or an IM when I hear it buzz.

With the BB I get a custom tone, plus a notification. BAM hit the task switcher and switch to Yahoo. The whole time I've got Slacker radio streaming WITHOUT interruption. I find myself more productive on the BB.

I use the iphone for its unbeatable media abilities and safari browser, but on my recent business trip the Bold did it all. I tethered it to my Macbook air while waiting for my plane, watched a movie during the flight, and used turn-by-turn GPS to find my hotel. I even used it as an alarm to wake me up :)

I have to admit, I DO really miss the extremely customizable notification alerts of a Blackberry.

I am assuming they are the same way on a Bold as they are on my 8800.

I don't know why everyone overlooks this, but if you want to use your phone as a media device to listen to MP3s, listen to internet radio and watch videos then the iPhone is fantastic! Every other smartphone I have used has fallen short when it comes to this. The iPod UI on the iPhone is great! Sound quality is great! Video Playback is great! Being able to sync with my iTunes collection is great!

I love only having to carry one device to have my phone and tunes with me wherever I go!

PS - I also love the email, apps and browser, but I feel that having a quality media player is just as important to me.

Things I use phone for:
mainly texting (most important)
checking email and some replying to emails
surfing the web
gaming

If anyone has experience with both devices please help!

Thanks in advance!

I have both right now. This is purely my impression and several factor behind it such as no unlimitted gprs in my country.
First Blackberry phone, this is the first blackberry that I use, and I like it, here's the summary of what I like and dislike (Please do not flame me or anything):
PRO:
1. Keyboard is good
2. Phone fit on your hand
3. Email is superb
4. can copy paste (sort of)
5. texting is best
6. Unlimitted data connection when use blackberry apn
CONS:
1. Battery life is not that great (only last for a day, I know I read a lot of discussion that the battery life is longer, but I don't know why, it's my experience).
2. There's a small percentage of the bold has somekind of error that make your bold's body hot, even when you're not charging and not using it.
3. For web browsing, it's not that good when you visit a java script page (which almost all the web using it), you will need to use opera mini, but .... I still don't like it
4. Gaming is not that good (how do I say, it's a usuall game, it's kind of different from game for iphone).

IPHONE
PRO:
1. A pretty good battery life (mine at least last 2 days, I turn off 3g, wifi, bluetooth, location service, push)
2. Safari is best no complaint so far
3. Games are available using different technique than older games for another console (like using acc sensor)
4. Texting is also good (but miss important features, copy and paste and forward for sms, and copy and paste for email). As long as you get used with the keyboard. You will get use to it after you spend sometime using it.
5. In my country doesn't have unlimitted data package so pretty much I just browse when I found wifi
CONS:
1. no copy paste and forwarding sms
2. Limit bluetooh capabilities
3. No sms delivery option
4. IM is superb when you open the app, but when you close it (if you're like mine don't have unlimitted data) it's pretty useless.

Hope it helps, and again I don't want to start a flame, this is only my experience. Basically I use blackberry for bussiness and iphone for fun.
