I just exchanged my 32g wifi for the Verizon one today and set it up. My iCloud restored well and everything works fine this time.

But why is the 3G coming up and not LTE? It's working fine with out wifi so I guess I won't complain

Update: I turned off cellular data last night bc I was at home and only needed wifi, why waste data plan? So today I wake up and LTE is showing!

That's good but I didn't turn it back on.lol when I'm at home I only have wifi on and turn off LTE and cellular data off in settings
.

Did you sign up for a plan yet?

Are you in a LTE coverage area?

Did you set up the Verizon service? It won't show LTE until you set up service ... on top of that, are you sure you're in a LTE coverage area?

Then it should show LTE. Go to your nearest Verizon store. If they have other devices there catching LTE and yours doesn't, I'd exchange it.

Oh no im so tired of exchanging lol. Is it odd that I'm on the 3G network now?

It seems odd. If you are on a LTE plan, and you are in a LTE area, it should say (and perform like) LTE. I'm not as familiar with Verizon iPads, but at the very least I'd have someone at Verizon check it out.

Yeah esp bc I'm paying for LTE service.

Mine is doing the same thing, but I haven't left the house with it yet. Even though I'm inside the Verizon 4G LTE map, I assume my house happens to be in a dead spot. I have AT&T for phone service so I don't have anything else to test with until I take it out tomorrow.

Stupid question I know... But is LTE on in settings? Don't want you to make an embarrassing trip to the Verizon store. ;)

Anyone else have this problem and get it fixed? How do I check sim card?

Area coverage maps are sometimes inaccurate, especially at the peripheries. Could this be why you're not picking up LTE?

I had the same issue because I didn't want to initiate a data plan unless I was sure that I'd get LTE, so I first went into an Apple store to ask the why the "LTE" was not appearing in the corner of the screen. The moron, er genius, told me that that was normal and that 3G actually was what it should read, that it meant LTE. I politely thanked him, not arguing with him, even though I knew he was completely clueless. I then went to a Verizon store where they had an iPad running on LTE and sure enough, it said LTE in the corner. I then showed him my iPad that only read "3G" and he informed me that it would not read "LTE" until I actually initiate a data plan. I haven't done it yet, but I at least confirmed that there was LTE in my area because I'm not far fom the Verizon store.

Thanks for post. I signed up via one the iPad and received confirmation email from verizon w my new wireless number for the iPad. Is that initiating it? It's still saying 3G.

If you're paying for a data plan and Verizon's website says you should get LTE, and you're still only getting 3G, I would take it to the nearest Verizon store and show them, maybe get a refund.

Have you Enable LTE? Theres an option in Cellular Data.

Did you test it outside of your house? If you look at the Verizon terms of service, you'll see that they don't guarantee service inside home.

It's not odd. I'm in Los Angeles, a Verizon LTE area. I get LTE. But yesterday, inside the mall, it dropped down to 3G. It happens. Once I moved to a different area, back to LTE
