I don't think anyone who suggests a Mac for demanding games can really be trusted.
I've made my point abundantly clear later in this thread (... use a real machine/computer). To this day 2GB for my SE IS plenty. And btw, I for one don't think anyone who makes hasty judgements can be taken seriously.

Apple absolutely excel in hiding the reality of their tech from the public, just like they hide the reality of their business practices. If they were actually honest about these things, they wouldn't be doing nearly as well. Can you imagine how bad it would look in their advertising if they had Johnny Ives saying things like: "Because we felt that you wanted the best performance in your device, we brought in the latest 1.3 Ghz dual core processor, and 2gb of ram to keep all your apps ready at any time." Or maybe "Our phones have the latest 720p displays, to keep your images sharp and beautiful." Apple would be a laughing stock if they did that. But, that's the reality of their tech.

99% of people out there have no idea what a 1.3GHz dual core processor is. These are the same 99% that couldn't tell you how much horsepower their car has because to them it doesn't matter. They want a phone that works and runs the stuff they want, just like they want a car that gets them from A to B and don't care about the specs.

This is why they've been so successful. It's not at all about hiding specs from their customers. Toyota doesn't hide the specs of the Camry engine from their customers but they also don't put a huge focus on it. Instead they focus on what their customers want which is a reliable car that costs what they're looking for and offers the features they want.

Only idiots buy phones based on specs. For the other 99% it's about what a phone can do, not what the specs are. Apple advertising has always focused on just that. It's not about having a 2.3GHz processor, it's about what the processor can do for you.

Look at any successful company and you'll see their marketing focuses how the product makes your life better, not on the pure features and specs of the product.

There's this notion out there that specs don't matter. It's especially common among fanboys of certain brands that (almost always) produce mediocre phones.

SPECS DO MATTER! My year old iPhone 6 Plus is already miserably slow and laggy because it only had 1GB RAM. It's a year old phone and it's already basically useless. But my Galaxy S5, even older, is still running perfectly fine. It's every bit as smooth as the iPhone 6S.

So yes, specs DO matter.

Of course some specs matter more than others. A quad core phone won't really offer your average user more than a dual core can. So I agree with you that most specs don't matter.

But here's the problem. Apple ISNT just skimping on the useless specs. They're skimping on things that REALLY matter, like RAM and storage. They're still selling a 16GB phone in the year 2016 for christs sake! Unbelievable!

So yes, as an Apple lover, I'm MORE than furious that these corporate bean counters are taking a device that USED to be awesome and pumping out phones that wouldn't even be considered for a mediocre Android phone.
