As title says the expected 4.0.2 update, to fix the exploit used by jailbreakme.com, might be released today according to dev team member CPICH. Remember to save your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella if you haven't already. Since 4.1 will be released in a month or so I don't see the dev team wasting an exploit on 4.0.2, so anybody who accidently upgrades without their SHSH blobs will be unable to jailbreak till then.

I hate small releases because it'd say something like "bug fixes". Blah Blah Blah, Apple, we all know why there is a 4.0.2. I hope 4.1 has more features than the betas have, because as of now, it should be a 4.0.2 release.

what is an SHSH blob?*

is this the thing that cydia backed up to make my "life easier"?

thanks for the info

Apple stopped allowing iPhone firmware downgrades. You now have to save a little file, called an SHSH blob which is unique for every iPhone, so you can downgrade.
There is more to it than that, but that's the basic idea.

Why would anyone who's jailbroken update to 4.0.2? There's already a fix for the exploit in Cydia. Unless we're talking about those people that must hit the Update button in iTunes while sleepwalking and afterwards have no recollection of how they possibly could have updated their phones.

The 'Fix' just warns you you're about to open a PDF. You could still fall prey to a trusted source. As much as I would like a true fix yep it's not a good idea to update if you want a jailbreak

If you have already jailbroken you phone and said yes to the 'make my life easier' question in Cydia then you'll be fine. Otherwise just wait till the download links are back up
