Indeed it is. What's that faint sound?......It sounds like people with jailbroken phones updating. The horror....

Quick! Help!!!

I just updated to 4.02 and all my stuff is gone. HELP!!!!

I keed. I keed.

Seriously though. Once the JB for 4.02 comes out, will I need to re-download all my "apps" again or does the SHSH or whatever remember my stuff? I assume the iTunes backup would remember all my fixes but I just needed to make sure. Thanks.

iTunes backup will save all your Appstore apps/notes/contacts etc. You'll need to install your jailbroken programs again, unless you use pkgbackup from Cydia.

Also I very much doubt there'll be a jailbreak for 4.0.2 seeing it's just a exploit fix and adds no new features.

iTunes won;t remember any of your jailbreaking apps or setups unless you are running a special package like pkgBackup. Your SHSH blobs are just encryption keys to sing your firmware and fool iTune into downgrading, have nothing to do with the actual apps or settings

I agree. The jailbreak will likely be saved for 4.1, which should be a major update to the OS. Though if comex found another "easy" exploit, he might just update jailbreakme.com with it.

And thank you to you as well :)

here's a question,

i've always had a jailbroken unlocked iphone 2G and just recently upgraded to an iphone 3gs on t-mobile.

i just did the jailbreakme and ultrasnow unlock on monday on the sg3.

is my blob automatically saved through cydia or do I have to do it on my own?

is it too late now that 4.0.2 is out?

are there instructions on how to do it and why is it important to do so?

Damn, I'm still waiting for my iPhone 4 to ship (my first iPhone!:D), I was hoping to get it while I could still jailbreak.

I guess there's the slim chance it'll arrive with 4.0.1, but if not am I just out of luck until the next jailbreak appears?

pkgBackup works well? was thinking about this b4... means one could run, say, the 4.1 update (when it's out), then restore everything jb'd to the iphone? (once, of course, 4.1 is jb'd)??

just want to be sure i understand this LOL...

Can someone explain how to backup the SHSH blobs?

Cydia do it for you and you can manually do it using a program call tini umbrella, however you need to that "BEFORE" a new firmware is release (since the signature is coming from Apple servers, they will not sign anything older than the current release).

If you didn't do it before 4.0.2 was live you are SOL, sorry!

Does Cydia automatically back up SHSH files? I ask because when I went on TinyUmbrella, I didn't see my 4.0.1 SHSHs, but Cydia App said it was on file. I saved it through TinyUmbrella anyway, but the app is confusing to me.

Also, what happened to the "Make My Life Easier" button? Is Cydia just automatically downloading the SHSHs now?

so if cydia did it for me when i jailborke and unlocked my phone on monday am I still ok?

Maybe someone can explain for me (I jailbreaked for the first time two weeks ago). When I plug my iPhone into the usb, will iTunes automatically update me to 4.0.2?

Even if they don't, what about when 4.1 comes out and there's a new jailbreak. If I use that app that people mentioned that remembers the jailbreak apps I've bought and downloaded, will all of my settings and everything remain in tact? IN OTHER WORDS: will my phone look the same (background, folders, settings, passwords, themes, etc.) after a new jailbreak comes out? What do I have to do to maintain everything my phone looks like and does now?

I believe you see the "make my Life easier" the first time you open cydia after jailbreak (at least I did).

iTunes won't do it Automatically, it will ask you if you want to Download it, Download and Install or cancel...you click cancel...

If you got PKGbackup, yes once the new FW is jailbroken you will run your restore and all your app will be back (giving that all app are "compatible" with the new firmware, if the new FW "breaks" any of the app, they won't work, that is out of the control of the PKGbackup or the app developer)

There is a short overlap time where both are being signed.
You should try and get 4.0.1 anyway (I was able to re-dl my 4.0.1 hashes well after 4.0.2 was released just as a test)

That said, why do people always wait until the last minutes to do something so easy yet so important to staying jailbroken ??

So what happens if I update my iphone 4 using itunes?

I will loose all my jailbreak stuff?
