just did a speed test after the update to 4.0.1 and 8mb download with phone flat on the palm of my hand, 10mb download when phone is put in the grip of death. ?
clearly. but before the update, it was 8mb flat in palm and 600k in death grip, so how does that figure?
It doesn't. This upgrade should have absolutely no effect on WiFi performance. I would say it's a coincidence.
Just saved my SHSH blobs for my iPhone 4 via Cydia. Any reason to do it through Apple? Sorry, if its a stupid question, but its my first time saving blobs.
I don't post wrong information - show me where. I'm quite upfront about what I do and do not know.
If I express an opinion or and it's wrong, I ALWAYS admit it - I have zero issue with being wrong. That's kind of what these forums are for - to learn more and gain a different point of view - sadly others just see it as a place to vomit biases person opinion on everyone else w/ no regard for the truth.
If you have issues with what I'm saying, I suggest you add me to an ignore list - nothing would make me happier
I find no reason to be as rude as you, and others, are being lately. This forum is a community, and one that I quite enjoy participating in. If you are going to sit in the wings and just bash everyone I have to say - useless to you or not - I'm certain the same will end up happening to you here. I'm truly sorry that you think what I am saying is useless and that I post "wrong information" - if you go back and look at my threads you will find a mixture of tongue-and-cheek and also me trying to help people, encouraging people, and adding to what has been said, which from my understanding is just being part of community. I see no real reason to say what you said.
Yet you feel it necessary to add 'useless' comment to the comment(s) that you find useless.

@flakinson Not sure if the next JB will be able to activate yet. I recommend borrowing a SIM from a friend on an official carrier.

That's what PlanetBeing is suggesting. I live overseas and have used my AT&T sims to get past the 'Connect to iTunes' screen several times as well as 'activating' it on my iPhones here.
Maybe consider picking one of these up - they have proven useful over the years.

Just wait for the jb and unlock to come out and see where this all lies - wonder if the unlock will leave you at the connect to itunes screen.

I ran around to see how i can get those SHSH Blobs and whatever and it worked for me (at least that's what it said) I have a 3GS iPhone Running iOS4 (not 4.0.1)
I don't really want to upgrade, I just want to get my Unlock in the future, but will the SHSH data i got help me in a near future if i accidentally update?
forgive my ignorance, but I am in the same situation and I have a few probably dumb questions.
if I don't plan on unlocking to put on a different carrier, does it matter if I update? That I didn't back up my shsh blobs?
Will I still be able to just jailbreak? I haven't updated yet and I don't know what to do. I just want to jailbreak when its out and tether.
Save your SHSHs if you even want to have a chance to hack your iPhone. Although, the last I heard was Apple stopped signing 4.0 as of today.
It matters. And know that if you need to unlock, you almost always have to JB first. This is why saving SHSHs for applicable phones is important.
As far as JB goes, if you have your SHSHs saved for an earlier FW, it's helpful because it will allow you to downgrade to a FW version that has JB tools available. This is why you see all those 3GS 4.0 to 3.1.2(3) tutorials which require saved SHSHs for 3.1.2(3). Only those 3GS' with saved SHSHs can JB/unlock. All other 3GS iOS 4 users without SHSHs who need their phones JB/unlocked are in the dark for now. The same will apply for iPhone 4 with subsequent firmware releases.

I'm so pissed because I have my SHSH saved for my iphone 4 right now but I'm getting a replacement. They attempted to deliver it today and I wasn't home so now I'm going to have to wait until Monday
. That means I'm not going to be able to save my SHSHs for the new phone. Hopefully it will be a moot point.
If it's any consolation, the window closed overnight so you wouldn't have been able to get your new SHSH on file or saved anyway.

. Although I'm still annoyed that I have my brand-new SGP Ultra Oleophobics sitting here and I can't install one until Monday now. I stay home all morning, leave the house for 1 hour to run some errands and FedEx shows up while I'm out. Never fails.
