i never had a battery issue while on 4.1 jailbreak. it started when i installed 4.2.1

Restore and run your iPhone w/o the backup for a day or two and you'll see the difference in battery life span. That's all I'm saying

i too am have really bad battery drain issues. i restored to new, then loaded my latest back up and jailbroke with greenpoison 4.2.1 rc5. now my battery is at 30% at the end of the day when prior to jb with 4.2.1 i would be at around 60%. i am not doing anything different. any help?

You didn't jailbreak from new when you loaded your back up after restoring.

You should try with this order:
- restore to new 4.2.1 with iTunes
- let the phone be activated by iTunes
- when offered the choice to set as new or to load back up, quit iTunes
- turn off your phone
- jailbreak
- install cydia
- restart iTunes, you can then load your back up.

I jailbroke yesterday with greenpois0n (running 4.2.6 on vzw iphone4). Battery overnight dropped from 67% to 59%. I think thats within the normal range, no? I had about 15 random apps loaded in the multitask bar (phone, msgs, facebook, email, setting, a few games, etc etc), with email on fetch every 15 minutes and push notifications on. Wifi was on as well (I'm not sure if it stays on or not automatically, but I didnt turn it off manually).

Yes... It's ok.
There's no such battery problem in jailbreaking, that's not true. Unlocking maybe, but jailbreaking, hell, no.

My 4 had battery drain issues after using GP rc5_4, and i noticed that the usage and standby time were always exactly the same, no matter what I did. I figured that gp must be running something in the backround so I completely powered down (as in, hold the lockswitch, not using the shutdown command sbsettings gives you) and after turning it back on the problem seems to have gone away. I now see normal, pre-jailbreak battery life and my usage/standby totals behave like normal. I haven't had a reason for my 4 to restart/respring yet, so I'm not sure if the issue will return or not

tl;dr: do a hard shutdown after jailbreaking and watch your usage/standby numbers to see if you have a battery problem

Hanging freezing unresponsive

Hey ppl. I jailbroke my phone as soon as I could using greenpois0n when it first came out and had no problems with it all.

A couple of weeks ago I started having issues with the phone hanging and being unresponsive out of the blue. This tends to happen when am using iPod to change tracks, sending SMS or even just locking the phone with the sleep button. It's almost as if it is doing some kind of process before it can move on.

Last week I decided to do a full restore and upgrade to 4.2.1 and then jailbreak with the latest greenpois0n but am having the same issues with freezing and slow response times. The new jailbreak has only snap tap, screendimmer and bite SMS. Decided it may have been the many winterboard themes that may have been slowing it down but seems to not be this.

Any others having these issues? Have had a search in the forums but can't seem to see any solutions around.

Hey guys I need some help with Greenp0ison. I have an Iphone 4 on 4.2.1. I try running Greenp0ison and it goes into DFU mode with no problem, then I click on the Jailbreak button and it just hangs. I have tried it numerous times, different USB ports..same issue. The process bar never starts(never starts turning green), hangs from the beginning and eventually I get an error stating jailbreak failed.

Are you using the latest version of GreenPois0n? Mac or PC?

I had the same issue on my Mac, then I used GP on my PC and it worked perfectly.

Does it slow down the iphone4?

Iv heard it does, but im not sure,

Thanks..

I don't think you fully comprehend or understand what jailbreak is and there are plenty of sites including here to read up about it. All jailbreaking does is giving you administrative control over iOS similar to that of logging in as admini on your mac or pc. Its what you INSTALLS AFTER you jailbreak that can cause issues with your phone. Get it?

Try following the method linked in my signature.

Are you on Mac or PC? When I did my friend's VZW iPhone, his Mac didn't work...we had to use a PC.

I am using Windows. I was able to JB it using Redsn0w though...so its now JB but tethered...guess its better than nothing but the tethered part is kind of a pain.
Should I leave it alone? or can i try running Greenpoison over redsn0w now?

Did you run as administrator and in windows XP mode?

I ran Greenpois0n right on top of redsn0w.

I did run it as admin, however not in XP mode..I just tried it in compatibility mode and did not work....i'll try to run it on an XP machine to see if it helps. Thanks!

After JB with gp on 4.2.1, I cant send MMS. I searched and found another thread that said it could be cause by backing up from an unlocked tmobile backup. So my question is, does this sound plausible and if so, would restoring the com.apple.mms_override.plist fix my problem? What should it read? Thank you for any help
