Tempted to upgrade to 4.2.1 and jailbreak my iP4, but I think I will wait till 4.3 comes out. Iam on 4.1 atm.

Anyone else waiting for 4.3? Any idea when it's out?

Can anybody advise me on my previous post?

I've got a 3GS new bootrom on 6.15.0 already jailbroke on 4.2.1 tethered using redsnow and then unlocked with ultrasnow. I believe I can just run this new greenpoison over the existing jailbreak to go untethered is this correct? Basically go into DFU mode and run the programme? Will I loose my unlock or can I reinstall ultrasnow?

I'm currently on 4.1 and I'll wait for 4.3. It's currently working flawlessly so no need to install something that will only give me "Find my Iphone" functionality.

Yeah your right. Run GP over redsnow and you will be untethered.

OKAY SO IT"S OFFICIAL...Greenposi0n is the battery draining problem!

I jailbroke my iPhone 4, restored as new and JB with GP. I tried RC5-2, RC5-4 and RC5-Final...I would charge my battery up to 100% and just leave it over night on standby mode, with NOTHING else running in the background. I'd wake up 8-10 hours later and find my battery depleted by over 40%-50%.

Yesterday I re-jailbroke my phone with Redsn0w and put everything the same way it was when I was using GP...well this morning after leaving the phone on standby for almost 10hours I woke up to a full battery with an 89% charge.

I'd say this is proof enough that GP is the culprit!!

No offense, but don't you think if that would be the problem thousands of users would have complained by now?

I am JB with GP on 4.2.1 and am not experiencing the batt drain problem. My phone was about 90% last night before bed and I woke up with 83% batt.

What's official?
Greenpois0n is one of the most smooth tools to jailbreak your device. No battery problems.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)

I used greenpoison rc6, no battery issues here.

Not yet...now re-jailbreak w/ GP and I'll start thinking you have something. As of now you've proven nothing. Esp since nobody else is complaining but you.

I've had this exact same issue with a non-jb phone. After a few resets it finally cleared up. To this day I still don't know what caused it, but it wasn't a JB program.

just jailbroke my new verizon iphone today running 4.2.6 with greenpois0n rc6_final. worked perfectly, im happy so far!

Done mine yesterday and it works perfect for me too.

I recently Jailbroke my Verizon iPhone with GreenPois0n and it worked great. However, I'm now thinking ahead to iOS 4.3. Assuming there's an untethered jailbreak available, I will certainly want to upgrade. But since this is my first time Jailbreaking, I'm not sure what happens when you upgrade firmware? I believe you lose your Jailbreak and Cydia apps, right?

So what's the correct procedure for upgrading for a newbie like me?

1) Upgrade firmware to 4.3 using iTunes
2) Re-Jailbreak using whatever method is available
3) Re-install Cydia
4) Re-install all of my Cydia apps

Will the Cydia store remember what I purchased and allow me to re-install them easily? Or do I need to make a list of everything I installed so I can remember what to re-install? What about any settings I had - will I have to redo all of those as well? Is there an easier way to backup and restore all of your jailbroken apps/settings?

Thanks in advance!

i too am have really bad battery drain issues. i restored to new, then loaded my latest back up and jailbroke with greenpoison 4.2.1 rc5. now my battery is at 30% at the end of the day when prior to jb with 4.2.1 i would be at around 60%. i am not doing anything different. any help?

By restoring your backup you have effectively restored the issues that led to poor battery in the 1st place or as in yr case actually made it worse. Restore to new, re-jb and re-add your contacts/music/apps/etc and start over again from scratch

Just wondering but how do you manually add everything instead of restoring from back up?

Yep, pretty much. Upgrading to 4.3 will reset your iphone completely back to factory default, and you'll have to re-JB, and reinstall all your cydia packages.

Will the Cydia store remember what I purchased and allow me to re-install them easily? Or do I need to make a list of everything I installed so I can remember what to re-install?

From what Ive tried in the past on my iPod touch, I've never had much luck with cydia remembering all of the packages I had installed. However, I have read that it is supposed to. It just never worked on mine.. So I made a list in the notepad app, and refer to it whenever I need to re-jailbreak. I havent yet had to re-JB my verizon iphone, but when I do, I'll be relying on my list. If cydia happens to remember, then great. If not, at least I'm covered.

What about any settings I had - will I have to redo all of those as well? Is there an easier way to backup and restore all of your jailbroken apps/settings?

Before upgrading, make sure to do a full backup and sync of your iphone so that you can get gamesaves, contacts, settings, etc, back after upgrading. For the most part, this should retain your data. Also, it never hurts to have a backup in case the JB fails...

Yeah your right. Run GP over redsnow and you will be untethered.

For anyone who is in the same situation as I was I just done the above kept everything as normal put phone into dfu mode and ran greenpoision. Everything is working 100% untethered, phone stayed unlocked with ultrasnow, still had Cydia as before, didn't loose any data and I never ran a fresh 4.2.1 update as I've seen some people mention.

Only thing I noticed was the 'Loader' app never appeared but the phone is working untethered and I'm happy with that :D No more worrying if the battery is going to drain on me or if the phone will freeze while I'm out and about - what a head ache that was.............

I'm waiting for a 4.3 release and JB. I'm at 4.1 and see no benefit to going to 4.2.1 at this time. The only possible benefit is to fix iBooks, but I don't use my iPhone for iBooks anyway. Plus Kindle is far superior, IMO. Apple's feeble attempt at using iBooks to check for JB is reason enough for me to get the same book (and more) from Amazon rather than Apple.
