iPad 4.2.1 Untethered Greenpois0n RC5 supposed to work on iPad

Worked perfectly for me but now I can't access my books in iBooks. The app opens and I see my books but when I open one it says, "There is a problem with the configuration of your iPad. Please restore with iTunes and reinstall iBooks"

I assume if I restore, I'll lose the jailbreak? Is this a know thing with jailbreaking? Thanks for any help!
 
Now that there is a JB for those of us running windows at home it is time for me to upgrade to 4.2+JB.I have a 16G wifi that is Jbed. I have read through these threads and I am a little confused.I get to restore through I-tunes,load 4.2,then JB on a "clean" machine.My confusion is that what do I have to do to reclaim my cydia apps and settings?Is there somewhere that I store them and reload them after the new JB?I really have not been in to big of a hurry to load 4.2 as I am real happy with the way my i-pad is set up.It just seems that more and more apps that I would like to check out require at least 4.somthing to run.
 
Hello. I am currently on a stock 3.2 that was JBed day #1 way back in April.

I am ready to upgrade and try either the Tethered or Untethered.

Question is what is the best upgrade path since I am still in 3.2?

I see sparkomatic is still having trouble with iBooks. Is this the case for everybody? What about BlueTooth?

Also, if I decide to go with the untethered at the expense of iBooks and/or BT, should I upgrade to 4.2.1 then JB, or can I try the tethered JB first for a while? Or would that make it more complicated trying to get from a tethered JB to untethered?

Well that was fun. Just went through a restore and lost the jailbreak. Oh well. I use my iPad for iBooks alot so it looks like no jailbreak for me.

I know this is the iPad forum but does anyone know if this jailbreak does bad things to bluetooth on the iPhone 4?
 
Isn't this still beta? Think I would wait a little longer before trying any of these.
 
@man00, sparkomatic, I think there were rumors of 4.3 getting released on 2/14. I hope you guys have your SHSH blobs saved for 4.2.1.

Check Cydia..
 
Just checked mine and iBooks and Bluetooth both working fine.

Maybe it's to do with running it on top of the redsnow JB - seems to give you the best of both worlds...

I have not a clue if I do or don't have them saved. Thought you had to be JB to do that.
 
Just used Greenpois0n RC5 for windows to update from 3.2 JB to 4.2.1. No problem AT ALL. And I even have all my previous installed apps from the 3.2 JB. The installation of Cydia via the "loader app" also worked flawless.
 
i JB'd my ipad i already updated to 4.2.1 awhile ago, i tried to use Redsn0w before but i never worked

i used greenpois0n and worked flawlessly now i have a untethered iPad now

0. Back up in iTunes
1. Closed iTunes
2. Unzip greenpois0n
3. Open greenpois0n
4. Press and hold power, power off iPad.
5. Press power for 3 seconds
6. Press and hold power + home for 10 seconds
7. While still holding home, release power
8. Click jailbreak in greenpois0n
9. Keep holding home until jailbreak is complete
10. Wiat 3-4 minutes for iPad to boot up.
11. Done.

All apps are there, cydia working. Can reboot fully untethered. Skull Logo at boot.

Same here! I had the tethered RedSnow 4.2.1 and hated that I had to re-run redsnow everytime my iPad ran out of battery or an app froze on it.

I also tested my iBooks and all of my *cough* free ibooks run just fine on it.

It was really easy. I just ran greenpoison, put my iPad in DFU mode and blam it works!

Also, I do NOT see the stupid skull logo at boot. Maybe it only installs if you started with a non-jailbroken device.

WoW!! I am really excited to try.

I just ran the LONG backup. Is there anything else I should do before running the GP?

Remember, I am on 3.2...and I don't even remember what JB I used back in April. My SHS is backed up through Cydia and TU. If I mess up the upgrade, with my SHS backed up even though I am on 3.2 and never upgraded to 3.2.2 or anything else, will I still be able to go back to my back up I just made?

EDIT!!!!

WOW!!! I JUST WIPED MY ENTIRE iPAD!! For better or for worse, two hours later, and nervous nail biting, it is a clean slate, and GP (I think...no skull? Just normal Apple), Cydia running.

When I connected, it wanted to either Set Up as new, or restore to one of my backups. I don't guess there is anyway to get anything from my backups? Am I just going to have to start from scratch? All of my photos? Text documents?

I did send most everything that I thought only existed on the iPad to email, but I forgot about some Keynote presentations.

You can restore from backup and it will load your previous config plus keep the JB Cydia apps.
 
First jailbreak in a 32 Gb Wi-fi running 4.2.1. Used greenpoison rc5 b3... all went fine. No skull in b3 apparently. Did it without doing a stock restore (afraid of data loss), still no issues (till now at least).

No orientation problems here. Haven't read anything on bluetooth... whats the problem exactly?

Yes, it's a known issue. Just keep trying to open that book. It may take a lot of tries (sometimes up to 10+ tries), but eventually it will open. Also, this problem happens only with books purchased from the iBooks store. Free books and books from other sources work fine.

I'm trying to open the free book Winnie the Pooh and it will not open. I tried 25 times in a row. Also tried redownloading from the book store and it's still not opening.
 
Not a problem for me as well. I've had 4.2.1 ever since it came out to take advantage of multi-tasking. Now my iPad is finally complete again.
 
Just jailbroke with greenpoison, cydia didn't install, so i redsn0wed it and everything seems to be in order... I'll update if something happens.
 
I think the skull logo when the device boots up is only for the phones. I JB my iPad first & didn't see it. Then when I jailbroke my phone, it showed up.
 
iPad 'virgin' jailbreak. Took a few attempts but eventually done. So far have some problems with ibooks and cydia in landscape orientation.
