Any news regarding the iPhone 4 and BB 1.59.00 with this jailbreak?

I don't need to install Ultrasn0w right now, but I am hoping they fixed the 1 signal bar issue.

Use redsnow to fix the 1 bar problem.

I was wondering if someone could provide a little clarification on upgrading my iP4 from 4.2.1 to the new 4.3.3. I'd like to maintain my 1.59.00 baseband for unlocks. I use it when I go out of the country.

I have SHSH blobs on TinyUmbrella and have created a custom IPSW with the latest version of Pwnage.

I entered DFU mode, started the TSS Server and then tried to restore w/ the custom IPSW. It gave me a 1601 error. I was able to exit out of DFU and phone looks ok. Did I do something wrong to get the 1601? I'm afraid to try again until I know what that error is.

I'm running 4.3.2

How do I upgrade to the 4.3.3?.. restore phone first then jailbreak? or can I just upgrade the jailbreak only?

The same way you always upgrade a jb phone;

1. Upgrade to 4.3.3 in iTunes
2. Re-jb
3. Reinstall all jb packages or use pgkbkup to restore them (after backing them up before Step 1)

The 4.3.3 update and Redsn0w JB went without a hitch. Very smooth and fast. As previously mentioned, if you have used Tiny Umbrella to save your SHSH, then it will automatically put a redirect in your Hosts file. You must remove this redirect or else you will get the "ineligible" message when trying to update. Previous post does explain this.

I am on ATT so I don't preserve my baseband. I can't help with this. I never seemed to have a battery life problem before, so I also can't say if this version is better.

Use redsnow to fix the 1 bar problem.

I don't want to upgrade my baseband, I would rather keep the value of my phone.

Worked Like a Charm! THANX!

For the "this device isnt eligible for the requested build" error in itunes, this solution works like a charm!

I had the same problem. Found the solution in comments to the Dev Team Blog post.

I'm copying and pasting the instructions below, and it worked for me.

Check your hosts file to make sure 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com is commented out. It's a file that the operating system uses to resolve domain names to IP addresses.

On Windows it's located at C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
On Windows 7 you might need to Right-click on Notepad and 'run-as administrator' to be able to edit the file. Then browse to C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc.

In OSX it's located at /private/etc/hosts
The best way to edit the file here is run the following from the terminal app
sudo nano /private/etc/hosts
When it asks you for your password use the same on you use to log into the system.
Add a # before the 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
Press Control O to save, hit enter, and control X to exit the editor

I'm getting an error 21 when I try to update to 4.3.3. I haven't seen that error before. I can get out of the error, but why is it happening? How can I update to 4.3.3 if I keep getting that error.

Also, all that is in the hosts file is two lines - two gs.apple.com lines. I could have sworn at one time that file had more than just those lines. Am I missing something in the file that could be causing problems?

Try snowbreeze out...

Does this mean ultrasnow works with pwnage without issues?

Well it works but it will still kill mms and vvm. Taking your sim card out and putting it back in does fix that but it's kind of annoying. Not sure why the dev team can't seem to figure this issue out but it must be pretty complicated if they can't fix it.

If my VM and MMS (although this isn't a big deal for me) are disabled, I don't consider that to be working.
I thought I remembered reading there were multiple reboots, amongst other things, involved as well. Is the sim card reinstall applicable every time you reboot or is it a one time thing?
I don't have an issue with staying on 4.2.1, but I wouldn't mind being able to use tetherme's hotspot function in 4.3.x.

redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 is out, fixes the vibration switch problem some people had, and also i0n1c said on Twitter "BTW: by using the latest RedSw0w you also might decrease the battery drain.

"If you’re already jailbroken at 4.3.3 (by either redsn0w rc15 or custom IPSW), you can install this fix simply by running redsn0w rc16 over your existing 4.3.3 jailbreak. Just uncheck the “Install Cydia” option and check any other options you want. "

Gonna run it now

If I am on 4.3.2 and do not want to upgrade to 4.3.3 can I still run the new redsn0w over it to fix the vibrate switch problem?

YES! Just ran the update...went off without the hitch.

I had completed the jailbreak yesterday and noticed the vibration switch issue last night. Not a dealbreaker...but kind of annoying...glad to see it's fixed.

@i0n1c fixed this and he even doesn’t have an iPhone!

Again, if you are already jailbroken you can run the redsn0w over top of your existing jailbreak. Just run as you normally would EXCEPT uncheck "Install Cydia." Works well.

BTW, in case anyone is wondering, the vibration switch issue was/is that when you flipped the switch to vibrate on the iPhone the phone didn't vibrate indicating the change. When you turned vibrate off, it then did the vibrate indication essentially functionality behaved backwards). Then it kind of went random and maybe worked right or didn't...you never really knew what was happening.

I'm going to say that's a no.

Update #1: PwnageTool and redsn0w have been updated to include a fix for the iPhone3GS/i4 side switch vibration issue (only for 4.3.3!).

@RobT43

How exactly do you run redsn0w over your existing jb? I used pwnage to create a custom 4.3.3 ipsw and did an alt/option restore in itunes so I'm already jailbroken. When I try to run redsn0w it's asking me to select an ipsw. Do I select the custom ipsw I created? Or is there a way around that? All I want to do is patch my jb to get rid of the vibration switch bug.
