I agree but I've already left the ecosystem. I sold my MacBook. Now I'm down to the iPhone and iPad. If the iPad stays at 1GB and then that's strike two. At that point I will probably try Android or a Windows Phone. I don't use many apps but need a 4.7-5" high res screen. I love the Galaxy s5 screen and want something similar like that on the iPhone. It appears doubtful though as more and more rumors are pointing to a 720pish resolution screen.

I was so excited for the 9th but slowly losing faith.

With every update, Apple gains more users. But there is always a smaller group that isn't pleased, and leaves for greener pastures elsewhere. If you've found another device that meets your needs in every way, then you definitely should go there. It's quite possible that some other phone has exactly the specs you want. They may not be the specs I want, or they may come at too high a cost (in convenience) for me, but then I'm not you and I'm not the one considering a change.
Apple can't be all things to all people.

Dear Trolls,

I think I can speak for 'most' intelligent Apple supporters by saying that we don't make our Apple purchases based on screen size, amount of RAM, battery capacity or any other ridiculous spec you like to throw out. We own and buy Apple products because we appreciate the careful thought put into the design, materials and craftsmanship of their products. When we spend our hard earned money on an Apple product we feel confident that we haven't wasted our money on a poorly designed, poorly executed product. Feel free to 'label' as zealots, fanboys, lemmings or flat out 'dumb' if that helps to somehow make you feel better about yourself, but we really don't care what you think because having a smaller screen, less RAM or lower capacity battery in our smartphones doesn't make us feel inferior to the rest of the worlds smartphone population. :apple:

So, it's just 'taller' again? I'll hold out for the 6s, and possibly the 5.5" variant of it. I've seen Griffin list cases in our store till system for both 4.7" and 5.5" sizes marked 'iPhone 6'.
It's not 'just taller', it's 16:9 as always. You must be either blind or trolling. Or both.

Not at all. I love Apple and have done for many, many years. Just from the picture in the article it looked like it was just a taller screen, as with the iPhone 5 from the 4S.

Way too much silly analysis with everybody guessing based on this or that leaked part or a bunch of leaked parts cobbled together. Is it so difficult to wait for 9.9 when all will be revealed?

Apple really has the sheep thinking 1GB of ram in a premium phone in 2014 is ok

Good job Tim cook

it is ok. It's not great, it's not fantastic, but it's not bad either. Like you said, it's just ok. Apart from a few tab reloads here and there i have no issues using my 5s in everyday situations. Most people probably don't even notice the tab reloads (the kind of people that don't browse macrumors)

This iPhone could have never ending battery life, a nuclear generator as a SoC... I don't care.

With 1 GB of RAM, we know people will be getting screwed when they buy one. To a lesser extent, it already happened with iPad Air, mini retina and even the 5s. What a bummer, if true.

Since the a7 is already limited by the 1 GB of Ram, they might as well use it on the next devices too.

I'm starting to think that it's safari not the 1 GB limit that is causing tab reloading as it occurs on high end macs too. I don't like the behaviour but I'm starting to doubt it's based on safari running out of ram.

I'm listening to Gruber's podcast right now (published yesterday). The first 30 minutes are all about this topic and why it makes sense for Apple to do it this way, especially given the sessions at WWDC about apps that adapt based on the device screen resolution.

He mentioned somewhat shyly at the beginning that he wasn't completely guessing and that he's talked with some people that claim to have handled the device.

Ok, so the 5.5" will have an even higher resolution than the iPads? And they could barely get the retina mini ipad manufactured and scrolling smoothly?

Sounds great, I wish it were true....

Spot on

reading macrumours around this time is like tearing open a corner of your christmas presents to see what your getting and then crying on christmas day because theres no magic feeling inside

Let's just all be surprised on the 9th. I'd love to hear that catch phrase, "Oh, and there's one more thing..." from Tim near the end of the presentation. :apple:

Can anybody explain the maths that results in 2208 x 1242 (736 x 414) being 3x retina?

And then also explain why having to design 3 different screen layouts (and not just scale) is even remotely good for developers?

I'm sure battery life will still be OK, and I'll probably try the 5.5" just for novelty (I can always change back in a couple years).

Are you sure you can change back? When we get to iPhone 7, maybe 5.5" is the small one.

If the 5.5" version turns out to have far more superior specs than the 4.7", I would be so mad.

Heck; if the 5.5" has 2gig of ram vs 1gig in the 4.7" that alone would piss me off. And don't forget about the $300 plus base cost for the 16gig 5.5". We might be looking at $400 for a 32GB 5.5" model on contract! The new Nexus 5.9" might be that off contract with better specs in every way.
I just know that the next 2 months are going to be good for tech geeks. Nice time to be a Apple or Google lover.

Now you're spinning some Phil schiller BS here...

Millions will line up for this device. Apple will make a fortune. Stock investors will be happy to see apple stock rise. Tim cook gets a bonus. Jony Ive's will still want the damn thing to be thinner. Phil Schiller will be happy to say, "can't innovate my A**!"

On the other hand, smart people can see there is nothing innovative about this new iPhone 6. NFC, LTE modem (cat 4), ridiculously retarded screen resolution, small battery capacity - all have been done by competitors already.

In fact, aside from build quality, apple is just milking the poor saps because you know the iPhone 6S will sport some trickle hand me down feature to make you open up your wallets again and pay for incremental changes.

Sigh, there's no point in arguing because no matter what apple dishes out, apple apologists will find another excuse to cover for them. It's hilarious to hear people say 1GB ram is plenty and how it can save battery while competition has 2X or more and yet still kill the iPhone in battery performance.

You must be loads of fun at parties.

1GB ram is plenty for 99% of the functionality on an iOS device. The only time i'm ever bummed i dont have more ram is when my safari tabs have to reload when i have 6-7 open. Other then that its not like my phones ever been bogged down or laggy.

Honestly specs in 2014 should be 32gb base model with 2gb ram, but in it's history Apple has never really gone for top specs, Millions will buy it because most people don't need 2gb RAM in a mobile device that is mainly used for streaming/social media/random internet etc. They will release the phone. It will be decent at the absolute worst. I'm hoping for solid camera performance, same or better battery life i get now, and a larger screen everything else is a bonus. Everyone I know with S4/S5/HTC One are always plugging in their phones to charge while my iPhone lasts me all day.

Hypothetically, is there any reason we shouldn't speculate that this 4.7 inch model could have been @3x of a base 667 x 375? The analysis here is guessing screen space based on the video.

Also, the boot logo is a gear because the software loaded onto it is called BurnIn. It's not very well known, but believed to be a diagnosis utility Apple uses. Considering this is built on leaked parts, it would make sense that it would have that software loaded onto it, and that it needs a specific computer to show anything more

wait...this is macRUMORS right.....

It s not 3x retina. It's 3x the number of lines (vertical and horizontal) of the original iphone resolution (elongated for the 16 by 9 aspect ratio since the iphone 5.

If the screen ratio is the same 16:9 but we have to add the forehead and chin to the different sizes of screen. This results in an overall phone dimensions changing slightly as screen size increases.

The Larger iPhones will have relatively smaller top and bottom parts so will appear more square than the current iPhone 5 not longer as you suggest.

*that's weird the quote turned from an actual comment to a TROLL?

The 5.5 inch iPhone 6 will have an A8 coupled with a best in class gpu. Pretty sure it'll be alright. And the resolution will still be lower than the ipads by the way.
