Out in the real world, the sheep doesn't know how much ram it has.

iPhone users are so tech stupid that if you tell them that they have 512MB of ram they would think that they have 511MB more than a 1GB phone. iphone users don't buy for specs. Those that do jumped to Android a long time ago.
So why should Apple upgrade the RAM? Their still going to buy the phone.

to me, you're points seems like an apple apology.

I said in another thread: There are very few smart people in this world; But there are many dumb people - with lots of money!

And those will be the ones in line for this pathetic 2014 device. Same boring UI, same crappy RAM, same bullcrap marketing retina.

If people that buy Apple products are so dumb.... what would you call a person who spends their time in an Apple forum reading about Apple news about Apple products, who doesn't even like/want them....?

I said in another thread: There are very few smart people in this world; But there are many dumb people - with lots of money!

That's excellent for smart mobile app developers. We want app customers who have money and will spend it (on both spiffy new devices and our apps).

So far, that mean we develop for iOS device users first. Users of all other devices spend far less, both in average and in total, on apps. I don't care how much these types like big device spec numbers. They're worth little to the app business.

So now we are resorting to calling people dumb or smart by what device they choose?

Yea...that real mature.

Yet your here on a Apple forum.

iPhone 3GS resolution: 480x320
iPhone 4 resolution: (2*480)x(2*320) = 960x640 (2x retina)
iPhone 5/5s resolution: 1136x640 (2x retina with 16:9 ratio)
non-retina 16:9 display resolution: (1136/2)x(640/2) = 568x320

I think that the 16:9 3x retina display resolution will be (3*568)x(3*320) = 1704x960.

A 3x retina on a 4.7" display means 416ppi => close to Samsung Galaxy S5 (432ppi).
A 3x retina on a 5.5" display means 355ppi => huge gap from the competition

In conclusion, i think that the 3x retina display will be on the 4,7" iPhone 6.

If the 5.5" version turns out to have far more superior specs than the 4.7", I would be so mad.
The 4.7" will be fine what ever the specs are.
Personally trying to make a call with a 5.5" iPhone will be like trying to make a call with an iPad mini clamped to the side of your head..!
You can see someone making a call on a Galaxy Note at night from about a mile away.
They draw muggers like ******* fire flies...! Lol
I'm guessing buying a nice pair of dungarees with a big front pocket will be the next must have accessory for the 5.5" iPhone 6..!
Still perhaps having a 5.5" iPhone 6 in your pocket might make me more popular with "The Ladies"..! Lol

Now you're spinning some Phil schiller BS here...

Millions will line up for this device. Apple will make a fortune. Stock investors will be happy to see apple stock rise. Tim cook gets a bonus. Jony Ive's will still want the damn thing to be thinner. Phil Schiller will be happy to say, "can't innovate my A**!"

On the other hand, smart people can see there is nothing innovative about this new iPhone 6. NFC, LTE modem (cat 4), ridiculously retarded screen resolution, small battery capacity - all have been done by competitors already.

In fact, aside from build quality, apple is just milking the poor saps because you know the iPhone 6S will sport some trickle hand me down feature to make you open up your wallets again and pay for incremental changes.

Sigh, there's no point in arguing because no matter what apple dishes out, apple apologists will find another excuse to cover for them. It's hilarious to hear people say 1GB ram is plenty and how it can save battery while competition has 2X or more and yet still kill the iPhone in battery performance.

OK, fine I'm with you. Now point me to a phone that performs better than the 5S, a 1 year old phone. Hey, I know what will perform better than a 5S and even lets me use Apple's ecosystem and all my purchases...an iPhone 6!

Thanks for preaching the "truth" here but real consumers don't pull out their dicks to measure every time a new challenger comes on the scene. Apple never set out to produce the best battery life, fastest processor, most resolution in the industry. But that doesn't meant hey don't give customers the best overall smartphone experience.

Okay... I haven't been keeping up with all of the iPhone 6 comment threads...

... so this thought might be elsewhere in comment threads ...

Does anyone else get the feeling that these "leaks" are actually an Apple marketing ploy?

I have a feeling that in the past Feld & Volk would have been slapped down hard for this constant stream of leaks. And by slapped down I mean have their NDAs revoked and removed from partnership programs. I don't think they would set Feld & Volk up to look like fools unless they were really upset with them.

I am guessing that the reason for this is to fuel the pre-announcement hype and because the iPhone 6 isn't the most significant part of the Sept 9 event.

We will see what happens in just over a week....

It's sad that this is true :(
And Apple know it.

It would take a few years of genuinely bad phones, before many would not buy Apple models.

Funny how macrumors doesn't doubt a second of the authenticity of the video...

The iphone does look real, and built with apple parts.
But the boot up procedure? no...

What's up with that gear image at 0:42?
I know, I know it's a new phone. But:

1 - Since the iphone 1 in 2007, the recovery mode has never changed. (graphics slightly different, but it's always the ituned icon+cable icon, nothing else.)
2 - The iPhone 6 is on iOS8. Why would iOS8 have different booting or recovery logos depending on the phone used? I have been running iOS beta for a while now, and never saw that gear.
3 - Check out that gear icon. Check out your settings app on your iphone. The design lines are so different. Now Check out the android settings gear. Uh Oh...

I appreciate being skeptical of the video - it's important to try and see both sides of things.

But if this truly isn't legitimate, and the people in the video went to such great lengths just to fool everyone, why even leave the gear in there? Why not make sure it doesn't show up? Or why not edit the video so the gear doesn't appear at all?

Not saying I don't agree with you (because I do!), but at the same time, we hear this every year and then it turns out the leaks are real leaks.

I think it was before the 4S or the 5 that people thought that the next iPhone would be a different form factor. There were cases depicting it as curved and all but then it did turn out to be the way it was.

Yeah, that's right, the iPhone 6 is going to be a pile of junk. Millions of people WON'T buy this phone.

True. And millions will. Probably 200 million a year. ;-)

I'm pretty sure "innovative" doesn't mean what you think it means.

This is exactly what the burn-in OS looks like on iPhone 5, 4, etc. This is not running iOS8. It's running the software Apple loads on prior to loading the OS on, to test the device.

Honestly, it is the size of text and pictures that are important to me, not the number of pixels. For me the aspect ration of the iPhone 5 is awful because it is too thin, thus I hope the aspect ratio does change in the iPhone 6 to be wider.

Dude. Stop trying to use software to disprove a hardware rumor.
And even then, they were just showing the physical phone, not IOS 8.

Again. The phone they had was built from parts they gathered separately. Its not a production phone. It's just the most complete look at the iPhone 6 currently available (since before we just had screens, fronts, backs, buttons and parts seperatly).

You do realize most if not all the flagship phones are 16:9 ratio? People need to think before typing

I agree. I mean if you only use Safari with 1-2 tabs you'll probably never see the problem.
...

In the iPad section, I have posted multiple videos of my air refreshing tabs with only safari running, and only two tabs open. When I get back home I'll post one in this thread.
