4.7-Inch iPhone 6 Logic Board Shown With 16 GB Flash Storage

What's up with you Apple?! It's annoying enough not to be able to pop an SD card in, but 32gb ought to be the base model!

why? just get the bigger one.

----------

My old iPhone 3G from 2008 has the same amount of storage
than the new standard iPhone 6 will have in 2014, almost 7 years later.

It's just laughable at this point.

not if there is a market of people who want it and buy it. like...my dad.

16, 64, and 128 make perfect sense. Apple will have way more profits this way as most people will be willing to pay the extra 100$ for an extra 48 GB of storage.

If the base model was 32 Gb I would not pay more money for more storage. With 16 GB being the base, this is like a 100$ price increase for the iphone.

This makes the most sense to tempt people to upgrade from 16gb and squeeze that extra $100 out of them

What would be cool but I doubt would happen is 16 GB for $199, 64 GB for $299, 128 GB for $399.

I think that is exactly what will happen! All the upgrades will be 100$ appart.

There may be less people going for the 128 Gb version, but the amount of people that will to pay extra for the 64 Gb will be significantly more.

16 GB seems to be what the majority of people want. Every thread where people ask for more storage has a bunch of people jump in claiming that Apple has it right and people only need 16 GB. I wouldn't want Apple to have to pay an extra $5 for phone to give people a reasonable amount of storage.
Maybe they'll come out with an 8 GB model so I can save some money and not have to pay for a whole 16 GB.

Why do you think people want 16GB ?

Please consider what you are saying here. They WANT 16GB or 16GB is the right price point?
So, if the 16GB model was removed and the 32GB model put in it's place for the same money, people would be less happy as they WANTED 16GB ?

I don't think people WANT 16GB.

Apple has sold MILLIONS of iPhone models with 16GB and 8GB capacities, and even some with 4GB.

If people REALLY wanted larger capacities, they certainly aren't showing Apple that.

I like having more than 16GB. So guess what - I only buy devices with more than 16GB storage!

Apple has offered 64GB since 2011. Most people don't buy that.

If its true that a 5.5" model is coming you might see that phone's base model at 32GB. The 4.7 and 5.5 coule be compareable to 5C and 5S, 4.7 being the lower end phone and 5.5 being a higher end phone.

Most people (like me) have gone with 16GB model purely due to price point. And some people only use their phone for texting, calls, and Facebook so they have no need for a 64 GB model.

I bought a 5S with 16GB because my 4S with 16GB had plenty of space left.... Now overtime I run an update I have to clean up my phone. Next time I'm getting the 32GB model :/

It entirely depends on your individual needs. I haven't had a 16GB iPhone since the 3G back in 2008. Then I went to a 32GB iPhone 3GS in 2009, then a 32GB iPhone 4 in 2010 (only because 64GB wasn't available), then a 64GB iPhone 4S in 2011, I skipped the iPhone 5 and then in 2013 got a 64GB iPhone 5S. Half my storage is from music, then I have hundreds of apps that all have their own storage requirements. I take tons of photos and video which take up a lot of space, then add up all the other things that take up storage (emails, messaging apps etc...) and 64GB is as low as I want to go. I will be very tempted if a 128GB model comes along.

16GB is a pathetically small amount of storage these days. How much would it cost Apple to double that amount?

Not much, I'd guess.

It's all personal preference. 16GB may be more than enough for one person and I think you'll find (along with the 32GB version) it's very popular. If Apple release a 32GB version, both the 16GB and the 32GB versions will fly off the shelves.

I can't see Apple dropping the 16GB anytime soon.

I suspect Apple will sell many more 64GB iPhone 6's, for $299, giving customers a better memory value, and their iPhone 6 profit margins will be even higher.

I'd be more surprised at Apple offering a 16GB model than if they do in fact release a 5.5" phone. I understand not everyone uses 16GB, but the same can be said about why computers don't ship with 2GB RAM instead of 4-8GB+ if all someone wants to use it for is to check their email. People will always find something to use that extra space with.

16GB? 2012 called and they want their RAM back lol. No way Apple will ship a fancy new phone with a paltry 16. 32 or higher only.

RAM and HD/Flash storage are NOT the same thing people.

A few dollars. Maybe $5?

Its 5$ but apples responsibility is to their shareholders. I have a 16 GB phone and use 11 GB of stotage. Even thought I don't really need the extra storage, I would pay the extra 100$ for 64 GB as I think its a bargain. If 32 GB was the base amount I would not upgrade to 64 GB and apple would be out 100$

My first iPhone was 16 GB. Which was also the 3G. It's funny because I was contemplating getting the 8GB at the time. I quickly filled up the 16GB. The next iPhone I got was the 32GB and the next was 64GB. I always fill up whatever I've got. However for some 16GB is perfectly fine. My mum and boyfriend are people who get on well with 16GB.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start to adopt the new iMac structure across more of their ranges. A basic model to to keep the entry price low (16Gb in the iPhone), then a gap to options for the more intensive user. (64GB and 128GB). This might explain the lack of 32GB noted in the story.
