I went to the Apple store here yesterday and tried both. Both are small on me. I bought mine 44 alum from Amazon today (15.00 cheaper)
It would be a bit easier to do a fair comparison if both sizes had the same colour band and same watch face.Another year another version of the same ass dilemma.
40 on top, 44 on bottom.
40 feels a tiny bit too small, 44 feels a tiny bit too large. 44 with a band that has lugs is firmly large on me.
Wrist is 168-172mm roughly
I wouldn’t say the 40mm looks small, it’s perfectly in proportion to your wrist IMO. You can see a bit of the strap each side of the face whereas the 44mm just looks like a screen on your wrist.Another year another version of the same ass dilemma.

A lot of this will come down to personal taste too. Some people like oversized watches and there was a growing trend of women buying men’s Rolex’s, not that an AW compares, but you get my drift. I just like my watch to look in proportion and not be too intrusive or dominate my wrist and be bulky. I think the 40mm suits your wrist size better from the pics but it’s of course entirely up to you.Appreciate the input. I think that’s what I’d prefer. I’m just so used to always getting the big one. I used to weigh more so it was a no brainer.
Here’s a pic with a sport loop, which makes it look a fair bit smaller than the band oddly.
Best I can do atm.
Looks decent, try the 44mm in store, see how it fits.Yesterday I finally received my Apple watch series 6 40mm. Here in Europe we had to wait quite some time for it to be available.
Same as all of you I had huge dilemma what size should I pick, especially because it's my first apple watch ever. As I mentioned I went with 40mm since I thought that it might be a better option for my fitness activities having a lighter and smaller watch on my wrist.
What do you think? Does it fit me? I kinda wanna try 44mm just to see how it would look but I'm afraid that most likely it will be too big, especially because I don't really like big watches.

To me that looks just about perfect fit, keep in mind that style strap tends to accommodate a larger watch better than maybe the sport band would as well. Having some wiggle room for other strap styles is useful. If you went with the 44mm it would be getting closer to the width of your wrist and straps will then start to hang over the edge more, less so with the sport loop style above but the sport band certainly would.I think the 40 mm looks fine, though the 44 doesn’t look bad, either. I have a similar size wrist and despite what I said previously, I now find myself second-guessing a bit. It’s especially hard when you could reasonably go either way. My 40 mm SE arrives today and I’m still wondering. This is what a friend’s 40 mm looks like on me.

To my eyes that is a great fit, some wrist showing either side and the strap sits well. You could probably get away with the 44mm but it would look less in keeping with your wrist size, possibly get in the way more in daily use also.Yesterday I finally received my Apple watch series 6 40mm. Tough call, watch size works in both images but strap sits slightly better on the 40mm, sport loop might work well on the 44mm. I think you can pull off the 44mm though.Best I can do atm.

Sport band should be just about right with the 40mm. Interesting to see if the new solo loop and braided solo loop create less bulk where the strap ends attach - my current sport band does tend to protrude near the case to some degree.Thank you. Very good point about the strap, too; I ordered mine with a sport band.

Does it look so small though? Are you judging on looks or functionality?I think the 44 looks great, the 40 just looks so small!
I bought a 40 without trying it on, and it arrives today. In the meantime I got to try a 40mm.... its so tiny. I'll be returning mine when it arrives.
Knowing my luck, the 44 will be too big!![]()
