38 for sure.

They're both pleasing to look at, but I think the 38mm on your smaller wrist will hold up better with time. It's much more subtle. IMO, the 42 is way too big on your wrist and says "big black touchscreen" more than the 38.

I have 150mm Wrists and 50mm with and I am still not Sure if I should buy 42 or 38mm.
Today i had my... puuh let me think... 5. or 6. tryon in the Store
At this time i am leaning forward to the 42mm.
What would you guys advice me?

I would strongly advise you to ignore any advice that is made based only on your photos. It is widely acknowledge that photos of the watch on your wrist do not give an accurate impression of how 'big' it actually looks - the only way to get a decent piece of advice is to go to the store with someone who knows you and let them see it in person. Or just decide for yourself.

Go for 38mm if you want the best look from a fashion point of view and safe the extra 50$ - go for the 42mm if you don't care about fashion and want the bigger display or if you simply like the look more. I'd definitely go with 38mm if I was you. It doesn't make that much of a difference, but I think the 38mm looks definitely way better on you. The size is perfect for your wrist. But your wrists aren't that small that you couldn't wear the 42mm either, if you really want to go for this one. I'd stick to the 38mm though.

ermm, excuse me but I am basing it on my experience with the 38mm and 42mm with my in-store appointment. I assume many are doing the same too.

6'5, 180 lbs, very tall but very thin and thin wrists- got the 38mm and EVERYONE says it is the classiest thing they have seen, 42 looked awesome on the try-on too, definitely try them on to help you decide, but as long as your wrists aren't huge, you should be able to pull either off. hope this helps!

38mm, 42mm is huge and looks like an ugly android watch.i have 150 wrists and opted for 38mm because I don't want to look like I'm wearing an iPhone on my wrist.

Watches that look large on the wrist give off a more sporty/techy vibe (most smartwatches, diver watches, sailing watches, and gps watches are large). Watches that look smaller/more balanced tend to be perceived as more fashion/timepiece. So... think about what vibe you want to give off, how much you want the watch to be noticed, and what band you plan to pair it with.

IMO you could go either way, based on the pics. It's up to you what image you want to project.

38mm for sure. People have some sort of size compensation going on with the huge watch on medium / small wrists. I have about the same size wrist as you and the 38mm is perfect IMO.

Not to hi-jack this thread but I still need help too...I ordered the 42mm but I'm becoming impatient now that it seems like the 38mm is shipping faster...I'm now 2nd guessing myself.

Should I just get the 38mm? Which one fits me better in your opinion?

I think the 38 looks better on your arm.

You really cant use close up photos for this.
On a closeup picture even the 38mm looks huge and in reality is is super small.

Mhhh its really weird, that we are now close to 50:50 for 38/42mm.

This is NOT weird. In contrary, it is exactly what I would predict because both watches work on you. That is, the 42 mm is not too big to the point that it looks ridiculous, while the 38 mm is by no means too small on the wrist.

The reason why some like the 38 mm and others like 42 mm is because people have difference opinions on what is the "right" watch size. It comes back to what the OP of this post (earlier quoted) was saying about whether one prefer a "smart watch" look, or the more "traditional watch look".

Perhaps you should ask yourself what were your previous watches like. Do they tend to be on the big side, or small size.

The good news is, you can't go wrong either way. The bad news is, which ever one you end up getting, you'll always wonder if the other one actually fits you better.

Finally thought, seeing that you described the 38 mm as super small, and that you concluded the "credit card test" to be wrong when it suggested the 38 mm for you, I think your subconscience is telling you to go for the big one.

Credit card does Cover the whole wrist.
I dont think this test is very useful.
In my case, i think the big hands are important too.

Wow, this was truly a very helpfull post #
I think you are right, that my subconscience want the 42mm.
Normaly I doesnt prefer big watches and years ago I hated to wear a watch and only startet with that because of the Pebble.
A small Watch is for sure much more comfortable, but over time I liked even my Pebble steel as an fashion accesoire and a watch is the only "jewelery" i am wearing as a man. I have no problem to show the watch and sure it can stand out a little bit. It even can look like a smartwatch.

I think I will go with the 42mm at the end.
Maybe I will went for a last appointment tryon but I will see.

To everyone else who is not sure:
Do not judge pictures of orher people too much and even not your own pictures. At least you have to took the pictures from a bigger distance.
Pictures of the watch and even Papercuts does not show the real size. If you didn't have seen it in real, you will wonder how small the 38 and even the 42mm are.
Everyone with a wrist of 160mm and a with of 55-60mm can wear the 42mm.
For People with less than 160mm it is a hard choice.

Totally not the question you're asking, but the all black one looks great with your skin tone.

Help needed too...please.

Unable to go and try them both

Torn between 38 or 42. I have a 165mm wrist, 53mm width (just under CC size 54/55mm).

I love chunky watches, so with a 137mm wrist I went with a 42mm. It doesn't look large in real life. Don't be scared and get the 42mm.

Its funny to see this. Your Papercuts are telling more the truth looking, than the photos here everywhere.
I think its because the Photos are 2D and in real it is 3D.
I would go with 42mm.

You are pretty much my wrist twin! I'm 165 and a bit over 50mm width. I'm still trying to decide too honestly. I do think the paper cutouts give a good representation but the best way to view them I found is in a mirror. I put some cardboard backing on the paper cutout so it doesn't curve around my wrist and looked at them in a mirror to get some distance and see it how it would fit on my wrist. To me this seems to give a really good representation and I wasn't shocked by the size in the store and in those situations using the mirror and even in store I tend to prefer the 42. But when I see some of the pictures on here with people saying they have 170mm wrists and it looks like a TV on the wrist it really makes me second guess the whole thing. Also in pictures when guys with smaller wrists have the 38 it tends to look really good even from distance. So I really have a tough time. I'm probably going to go back in for another try on and have them take some pictures from distance. I really do think we can probably go either way though OP included. Also OP I agree that you really seem to want the 42 so I say go for it.

Thanks for your tip. I'll try your mirror test :). I think that's more important the width than the wrist size.
I'm also a bit scared of the 38 with the screen with the "mechanical watch face" (circular) that in the 38 will look like a small coin.
I've painted the paper AW black to figure out if the 42 won't look an iphone on the wrist or TV screen.

Still trying to decide...like you :)... Going nuts :)
