Right back where I started...
Happy February!

25,000 Miles in 2008:
One month down and the total miles has entered into the phantom zone of the nike graph for the 25,000 mile challenge. I can say we are behind and that we need to make the most ofthat extra day ;)

We have 43 runners (we need more) - of that 4 have logged 0 miles and 7 more are at 5 or below. We need to catch up a bit in the month of February and thank goodness it is leap year...:) Great months by the top guys as always, but props to speltiori for rounding out the top 5 getting over 100 miles logged - great work!
dylanb and ICTRUNNER were close to the century mark last month so perhaps the top 7 in February will all be at 200 miles or better.
Everyone is doinga great job and pumping in those miles can not be easy - stick with it you will feel better and if we can meet this goal it will be something! In the meantime keep running and recruit new folks and encourage the group already signed up!

Continuing Birth Month Challenge:
Summer loving (really it would be more like winter loving to make this right :p)

Top 5 months on the board with August and June leading the way - April is the work of only a few folks. Another month to see - recruits can help reshape this graph too.

Show the mental fortitude stick with it through the month of February - probably one of the hardst months for the folks in winter areas. Spring is around the corner - or at least it should be - find out tomorrow Mr. Groundhog.

Good luck! Stay healthy! Log more miles!

thanks again ziwi! i love your reports.

now we need for everyone to get busy running, or get busy getting new runners. seriously, we have to all come together if we are really going to get this goal.

Ziwi, can you add me to the challenges?

I figure all this time I suffer on a treadmill until it warms up again should be beneficial to someone!

What is worse is that the top four runners stand for more than half of the miles we have accumulated so far!
The entire challenge is right now completely dependent on these people. We need to somehow "inspire" the low-milers to chip in.

Good news.... the insurance company told me today that they're giving me the cash for the Nano (why couldn't they have decided that 3 weeks ago!) so I've ordered one that should be here along with my iMac so I can load up the songs tomorrow :D

Depending on when it arrives and whether the forecast snow also arrives, I should be able to get some miles logged this weekend :D

I'll help! I'm about to go and do a 6 to 8 mile run sometime today. (No practice on Fridays until track starts)

No problem - I will get you in there later today - you do have the Nike+ - Right? :)

I do - I'll finally pull my replacement out of the packaging and calibrate it and be good to go! Hopefully my dog won't eat this receiver like he did the other...

MR could offer up a post count per mile offer for a month ;)

Or some billionaire could pay $1 per mile - or some kind of sponsorship for the site...

now there's an idea! anyone come to mind? i think we'd need a lot of help with that one. maybe one of use could start a website on this? i can try, but i'll need some help with it.

yeah, i kinda figured that. i'm trying to talk positive to people, and encourage them, but i don't know what else to do.

so i'm guessing you haven't said anything to your coach? come on, asking never hurt anybody.

haha, yeah hopefully he won't eat it.

on another note, my nano just told me that i need to replace my sensor soon

well it turns out my girlfriend hasn't been uploading her miles. i'll try to get her uploaded this weekend. that will help some. hopefully her nano didn't lose any of the miles

I did and he said I couldn't use it. :( Even worse, when I was using it yesterday it died while I was running so it cut my run short at four something miles instead of the six something I ran. Don't worry though, its all charged up now ready to go for later today. :)

Now let us just hope her b-day is in august. :p

like August even needs it. hers is October

Less great news... the iMac arrived but the Nano got delayed and won't be here til Monday :(

dang. well at least you'll have it Monday.

oh ok. well at least you tried.

I'll admit it... I'm one of the 4. My ankle still isn't right since I sprained it before Xmas so I've not done any running. It's getting there though so I hope to get back out there soon and log some miles for the challenge.

It is okay because you are hurt. Only once you are better go run again, but don't do it before or you will end up screwing yourself over for even longer.

i'm sorry to hear that. hopefully you'll get better soon.

when i sprained my ankle in late 2007, they said that i couldn't go any more damage to it from running (unless i turned it of course). so maybe if you have it looked at they'll tell you that you can run on it? or you could be like me and just run on it anyways.

on a side note, i was actually playing basketball on thursday night with some of the guys on the team and turned my ankle again, but this time it was the other ankle. i thought nothing of it then, but the next morning my foot was a little swollen. i had a workout that day also. i ran on it fine though, so hopefully nothing will come about it

That's the reason I haven't been out for any runs yet! I do hope to get out there soon though - I had only started a few weeks before I did it (playing football / soccer) and I was starting to get into it and enjoy it.

I don't think it would necessarily do any more damage to run on it - it's more the fact that's it's still painful sometimes without doing any sport. I'll be back out there soon though...

well do what you gotta do. everyone is different. mine actually hurt more walking than it did running. but i had to run (for college)

anyways, hope you get better soon :)

oh dear... my oft-malfunctioning nano has really done it this time. On today's run it reset itself every 5 minutes or so. Couldn't even get through one song sometimes. :( I don't want to buy a new nano because I have an iphone, so never use the nano for anything but nike+. But if I can't fix it by restoring to factory settings with itunes... I think I'll have no choice.
