i know how you feel. i used my $100 off from my iPhone to get mine, so it made it a little easier for me to decide to go ahead and get it.

i'm happy with it so far, after they fixed the problems.

i just got a new sensor this weekend, and now i have to calibrate it

Doh, recalibrating sucks!

I realized that what I should do is hold off until may. I'll be getting a new mac, so I can probably get a nano for free (depending on when they start the promotion - it's been may in the past, right?), and that would be best. But I don't know if my nano will make it 3-4 more months - I sorta doubt it.

I just added up the miles for the 25k challenge. Unless I can't operate a calculator, we have 2161.45 miles as of this post. Pace would be 2459.02 by the end of today...so, we're a little less than three hundred off the pace.

I haven't been able to see how many miles we have in a while. I just see a blue bar and the letters mi... Who ever coded that interface...

But from what you tell, it looks like we are actually making up for previous month(?) ... or is it just wishful thinking from my part?

I can't see how many miles we have directly, either. If you go to "My Options," there's a link to "View Leaderboard." I just added up all of those numbers.

yeah, recalibrating isn't fun. maybe i can do it today. we'll see.

that might be the best decision. hopefully they'll have the deal again. maybe you'll get lucky and your nano will make it. just curious, do you know what mac you'll be getting?

thanks for the stats. hopefully we can start closing that gap soon

I just recalibrated, but now my nano seems to be underestimating. Cut about a half mile off my run today (though that included a few miles of tempo running, so maybe it'll be better on more normal paced runs ).

I'm planning on getting an imac. Once I graduate (law school) I won't need a laptop anymore. A mac pro is waaaay more than I need. A mini would *almost* be a good choice (I have a good external display, HD, mouse, KB, and speakers already)... but I'm not doing the integrated graphics thing again. So I think it'll be an imac, pretty much by default.

well i tried to calibrate it.....actually i tried twice. both times it said it didn't go the right distance. the first time, i ran 400 meters, and it said on there 0.22 miles or something. so the next time, i kept running past 400 meters, til it said 0.25 miles, and still it said i didn't go far enough. i gave up after that. i can't waste my whole day trying to calibrate the thing.i might try tomorrow.

oh ok. the new iMacs are nice, and maybe an update by May. i hope you get the 24" inch. nice HD resolution. law school....i hear is pretty tough. i'm surprised you can run as much as you do while in law school.

Yeah, it's a real pain. And the worst part is that whatever you do, it's still only going to be accurate within a relatively small range of paces.

If no update by May I think I'll hold off and just use my macbook because the current ones would be about 9 months old at that point. I do think we'll see Penryn in the imacs by then... at least, I hope so. I'll probably end up getting the equivalent of the 2.4 Ghz 24" model (i.e. whatever is in that price point in May). I do want the bigger screen, but can't see paying that big premium for the processor upgrade.

Law school is hard, but it's not studying every minute (at least not for me :p). I believe that we all manage to make time for what is really important to us, and the stuff that doesn't get done is stuff that, whatever we may *say,* isn't really as important to us, deep down. Whatever else is going on, I make time to run.

yeah it is a pain. i guess i'll have to run .26 miles for it to work. we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

yeah i would wait for the update also. even thought they should be updated by then.

yeah i'm sure law school tough, but still time to do certain things, like running, if you choose to do so. good luck with it

I've been thinking about calibrating my Nike+ kit once it is a little warmer, but I was wondering, do you want to race the mile when you do it or do you want to run it at a "normal pace"?

i usually just calibrate it at 400 meters, but i guess you could do a mile if you wanted.

you are supposed to calibrate it at your normal pace. but just remember that if you calibrate it at 7:00 a mile, and one day you feel good and run 6:30 a mile, it won't be accurate.

and i tried to calibrate mine again, and it just won't calibrate. i tried twice again. i went .26 miles, and then .25 miles, and it said it wasn't the right distance

Thanks twood, I've always wondered if I was suppose to race it or not. :)

yup, try to run at whatever your "normal" pace is because paces very close to that are the only ones at which it will be accurate. The problem, of course, is that many of us run at pretty varied paces. (I probably do about 7:10 on most days, but my tempo runs are often under 6:00, and when I'm dead tired I could be doing 7:45.) But such are the technical limitations of the nike+. I know they have the technical ability to do better, and I wish they would.

Sorry to hear you can't get it to calibrate right twood. But think of it this way - it probably won't be any more off than mine is! :p

thanks. i'm wondering if it's the new ipod that's the problem? i might try to calibrate it with the old ipod, and see if that works
