Hi

Is there any possible way to listen to live radio on my iPhone, mainly BBC Radio 1? Thanks.

radio 1???? i hope not...

gimme all the other channels and leave radio 1 out please.

OK  - is there a way? It is my own personal preference, so I'd like to know if there is a method. FYI, the station is available in FM, DAB and live on the website in Real Media and Windows Media formats. Thanks :)

I don't think so..... real/windows media not supported on iPhone or iPod Touch.....

You can "listen again" here

I know you can get radio stations if you jailbreak your iphone. I'm assuming that a radio app will come along after the sdk though.

Genius! Thanks for this link.

I do like that while other parts of the BBC website have a webclip icon, this part that is properly formatted for the iPhone doesn't!

I can get BBC world news but is there a way to get BBC Radio 1 as I can't see it when I'm looking through the stations.

Yeah, Radio 1 is the particular station I'm looking for. I wish the BBC would launch an iPhone radio app. That'd be so cool. I'm guessing that when the SDK comes out something like this will be possible, right?

The problem was the BBC chose RealPlayer (cross all three main desktop platform) and then the sub standard Windows Media.

Quicktime would have been a smarter choice, considering Quicktime has trounced Windows Media when they have clashed.

Yeah there is a live stream of radio 1 on the BBC site, it just can't be played on the iPhone. So in theory an app should be able to take that and make it playable on the iPhone. Fingers crossed.

The BBC podcasts work on the iPhone so all is not lost I suppose.

Hopefully something will come with the SDK!

(I feel like I'm putting too much hope into all these cool apps coming once the SDK is out. I'm scared half the things won't ever come out..)

Fingers crossed. I'd like to listen to a bit of radio on the move. :)

Given the realhelix project I'm very hopeful a player for Real audio will appear shortly after the SDK ships.

Problem solved then really. I hope the BBC website team will use their 10% time to build an iPhone interface for Listen Again.

BBC Radio Mobile is easily streamed with the iphone. It has a whole list of all bbc radio channels, including sports, and news. All the bbc radio channels can be easily streamed over any internet connection, wifi, through pc or mobile/pda. Follow the link http://www.bbcradio.mobi

Thanks, but sadly those are .Ram (Real) files which aren't supported on iPhone

listen to live bbc radio on iphone

ootunes media server will let you add any of the windows media bbc streams to listen to them on your iphone. it's $20.

I'm still trying to find someone with a radio remote to confirm the FM tuner works with an iPhone now.

If it does, wouldn't it be better to get that instead? It'd use up a heck of a lot less battery for a start…

Aaah, you're right... I was thinking about it from my own perspective... I live in the states so an FM transmitter doesn't pick up the BBC.

There were 8 on there that are .asp, which ooTunes can play...

BBC Radio 1xtra
BBC 6 Music
BBC Asian Network
BBC 7
BBC Radio 5 Live
BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra
BBC World Service
BBC World 24 Hour Live News

I've added them to the ooTunes demo, if anyone is interested in a non-tuner option.

Thanks, but sadly those are .Ram (Real) files which aren't supported on iPhone

I wouldn't be too hopeful that anything other than a realplayer would work for you then anyway. The new higher quality radio streams are geo-IP locked.

I have the radio remote for my 3G Nano. Sadly when I plugged it into my iPhone it says it is not supported.
I really wish the BBC would include radio on the mobile iPlayer site!

I'd like to be able to get 5 live sports extra so I could listen to TMS. Hope BBC sort something out, that'd be awesome.

Bugger - it had been reported that it was in the 2.0 firmware.

Thanks for checking.
