FYI...

If you check out the Maxfield's thread guys were walking into the store yesterday and placed a order and they were called today to pick them up!

this system is SO UNFAIR!

I just had a conversation with a gentleman on the Apple Executive Relations team about this. He wanted to know the feedback and I think, while the system is unfair, they are looking into it. I agreed it is messed up that you can walk into Maxfield and get a watch the next day and I made that point to him.

I have a feeling that they have done this on purpose. i hope i am wrong!

I spoke with them yesterday about this and the response I was given is, "Don't believe everything you read on the internet" and while i definitely don't, there are too many people posting that they are walking in and getting a call in a day or two to come pick up their watches, too much of a coincidence

I really think they are all worried about the way buyers feel about that. It's the first time they do this way – maybe it's Angela Ahrendts' idea – and it surely was a hard decision to make.

My guess is that they had a very few stock of watches so they could not supply all of their stores. Moreover how could they decide which store to supply, which one not to. So they decided to go online for the Apple part.
In the same time launching a brand new product without having retail stores was just madness. And they wanted that product to be more fashionable than any previous products. So picking the trendiest store in each country was the way to go. Besides, choosing a third-party super hype stores is clever because Apple can easily explain why those are short on supply. Trendy stores have always very few items in stock since the most fashionable items are rare, and expensive.

For all of you complaining about MaxField...flip it around and look at it from the retailers side.

First, the only way it's worth it for MaxField is if Apple agrees to keep them stocked with enough product to keep customers walking through the door. If everyone that went to the store to buy had to wait 2 months then there would be no reason to buy in store vs online. MaxField wants to draw people in to have the opportunity to sell consumers on other items as well.

If I still lived in SoCal I would've went to pick one up long ago. Hating on people that are able to walk in and buy a watch same day is pure jealousy. Getting upset about "waiting" on an xx:xx order is ridiculous as well since they promised us the 13-27th and we knew that at checkout. If the 27th comes and goes and you still have no watch then get upset and call Apple to complain but until then have faith that they're working around the clock to fill the orders.

Just my .02

Amen.

We're just a bunch of kids complaining that Santa did not pass by our house yet, on the 3rd of December.

Exactly.
Well said. I wish I still lived in LA too. But I don't. But I'm not gonna hate on those that can go pick one up. As long as I have my watch by the 27th. I'm ok.

I don't think most people understand west LA very well. It is a very congested area and can take 1-2 hours to drive there from most areas in SoCal. Then there's parking, waiting in line, waiting for the appointment, placing the order....and then coming back and picking it up a day or two later.

For all the resources spent in time, gas, traffic, parking...you earned that watch. You would be MUCH better off mowing my lawn a couple times, taking the cash and buying one off of eBay.

Everyone wants something for nothing. Just pick up an overtime shift at work, skip a fancy dinner, or cash in a vacation day and pay for the damn watch on the secondary market. Or simply wait another month and have it delivered to your door.

I can't hold my tongue any more, I am so sick of the ignorant sheep who say, "Did they miss your 2 week window? Then you have no right to be upset."

BS.

First of all, Apple marketed the watch for ages as being available on the 24th. That was a complete farce, the few that trickled out did not qualify as being available. If you got your order in 4 minutes after their site went live and got stuck with a May 13-27 window, then that is not available.

Which leads to the sheep's second ignorant statement, "It is hard to have so many combinations available. Apple cannot predict the future." More BS. They have teams dedicated to market research. Any company that is going to sink so much money into a new product does their due diligence to ensure they have solid numbers on which items to produce more of.

This is not Apple's first time at the rodeo. They flat out screwed up. They finally admitted the tactic engine problem. What they should have done was push back the date of the preorders until they were confident they had enough stock to fulfill the majority of orders. You know, the numbers they did market research on.

Apple, and any other company would love for people to blindly agree with everything their PR department puts out. However we, as consumers spending our hard-earned money, have a right to voice our concerns. And forums like this are a perfectly healthy way to vent our frustrations. God knows our significant others and family members don't want to hear it.

So if you want to blindly follow along Apple's marching orders, feel free to go read the posts on 'peeling bands' and 'show your watch face'. But stop telling people how they should or shouldn't feel.

Calling people "sheep" is such an original form of attack, particularly on an Apple fan forum. Bravo for your creativity.

Many people received their Watches on the 24th. Sorry you didn't; I didn't either. I knew when I purchased my Watch that I wasn't going to, though, because I was given a shipping timeframe before I confirmed my purchase. I assume you did too, which leads me to believe that your indignation is based more on jealousy than anything else.

Which leads to the sheep's second ignorant statement, "It is hard to have so many combinations available. Apple cannot predict the future." More BS. They have teams dedicated to market research. Again with the sheep thing. None of us has any more insight into the production problems than anyone else. Complications due to combinations, issues with the taptic interface, peeling bands...who knows? Apple. And they apparently knew well enough in advance to stagger delivery windows...which we knew when we clicked order.

This is not Apple's first time at the rodeo. They flat out screwed up. They finally admitted the tactic engine problem. Other than not catering to your desire to have a Watch on April 24th, what have they screwed up exactly? Pushing the release date back would just mean that hundreds of thousands of others wouldn't have their Watches either; is that really what you want? If you can't have it right now, no one should be able to? That's just jealousy, friend.

Apple, and any other company would love for people to blindly agree with everything their PR department puts out. However we, as consumers spending our hard-earned money, have a right to voice our concerns. And forums like this are a perfectly healthy way to vent our frustrations. Vent away. But why is it fair that you get to come on here and lambast Apple and its "sheep" followers without any feedback? Dialogue goes both ways; if you want to vent to a silent audience, go talk to your dog.

So if you want to blindly follow along Apple's marching orders, feel free to go read the posts on 'peeling bands' and 'show your watch face'. But stop telling people how they should or shouldn't feel.

The only "marching orders" I'm following is waiting for the delivery window that Apple gave me before I finalized my order. Not much different from any other pre-order I've experienced where demand outstripped supply. You can get upset at Apple and "sheep" like me, I suppose...but what are you really angry about? That other people got their toy before you? Maybe you could try freezing yourself in the Colorado mountains until your delivery window arrives so you don't have to suffer through the interminable wait any longer. Just watch out for the otters...they'll betray you.

First of all, Apple marketed the watch for ages as being available on the 24th.

You're right. Since every product which gets released has an availability date.

That was a complete farce, the few that trickled out did not qualify as being available. If you got your order in 4 minutes after their site went live and got stuck with a May 13-27 window, then that is not available.

They did the maths and, guess what, they issued a statement the 9th to tell that the demand would exceed the supply at launch. https://www.apple.com/pr/library/20...re-Preview-Online-Pre-Order-Begin-Friday.html

I really think they did not anticipate enough how much the 42 mm Space Gray Sport has been ordered, though. But still, the actual shipping date are pretty in line with the one we got just before and right after we ordered our watches. And the other models are shipping even more faster.

This is not Apple's first time at the rodeo.
But it's their first time at the "fashionable timepieces" rodeo.

They flat out screwed up. They finally admitted the tactic engine problem.
And they handle that issue pretty well, don't you think? Picture this, that company had to deal with a major issue in one of the most important components of their new devices, during a launch process, while hundreds of thousands of that devices have been ordered. It could have been really worse.

What they should have done was push back the date of the preorders until they were confident they had enough stock to fulfill the majority of orders. You know, the numbers they did market research on.
Hum we can argue here. They could have waited a bit longer, I agree. But they could have faced the same (or other) issues few weeks later. They had to pick a date to start the mass production.

But stop telling people how they should or shouldn't feel.
You're right, none should tell people how they feel. But helping people put things in perspective is nice. Especially when the main goal is to make you relax.

ZombiePete and Kyone - I'll agree that calling those who toe the Apple line sheep was uncalled for. But I stand by everything else, especially the biggest point of my argument is that people need to stop telling them how they should feel about this launch. I feel Apple screwed it up. You don't. However I don't tell you that you shouldn't feel your way.

This is a thread aimed at those eagerly waiting for the specific version of their watch. There is bound to be some angst. I encourage you to start a thread for you and your like-minded friend that are perfectly happy and content with the way Apple handled this. You all can congratulate each other on how patient you are and what a great job Apple did with this launch. And I for one will not tell you are wrong to feel that way.

I don't think most people understand west LA very well.

I lived in LA for 8 years..just moved back to South Florida 2 years ago. I know all about planning my travels, and life basically, around LA traffic patterns. You're right, West LA is very congested and low on parking.

I personally would still make the trip and make it happen. That's just me though...many people wouldn't.

When I clicked submit, my delivery estimate was May 13-27... If I didn't like that then I would have cancelled. That same option goes for you.

Until then just sit back, grab some popcorn, and be patient. Apple can take as long as they want to ship out your purchase, as long as they hit their window you were promised, I don't see any harm. It really doesn't matter what is happening on Apples side, all they owe you is an Apple watch in the promised time

Pardon, but I have a SGS with a delivery window of May 13-27, so I'm perfectly within my right to browse and post in this thread. If you don't like my feedback, then I suppose I might encourage you to go make a thread where you and your impatient friends can feed off each other's vitriol until your Watch arrives. But I won't, because I can handle a little criticism without getting so upset.

Uncle. I cannot compete with you all. I am wrong. Apple had a wonderful launch. And shame on anyone for thinking otherwise.

It's not a competition. You can believe and say whatever you want; I really didn't care that you're feeling impatient, it was your personal attack on everyone who disagreed with you that I couldn't stomach.

I really, truly don't understand why you would voice an opinion on this forum and then shy away like you were burned when a few people dissented. You have lots of up-votes; you're clearly not alone. Stand your ground. Apple screwed up; you're pissed. Fine. Just don't try to silence me and call me names because I disagree. That's all.

Hi all in the patiently waiting club here.

I have an order time of 12:17:05 according to Apple and an email which is 4 seconds later. I ordered on the website and I was sure it was before 12:10am. The website did not work until something like 12:07 for me. Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Good luck to all and may the watch Gods shine down on you soon.

Yes, that was my experience as well. I waited for the website to come up because I wanted to use my PayPal account, and ended up with a XX:10 order time (don't know or care about the seconds). Oh well.

Praise science!

Same thing here. I'm pretty sure I placed my order around 12:10, yet my confirmation email arrived at 12:14:02
