I think we should I just wait patiently hope it's delivered before last day of may27 before its concerning that was the day given to us we should just wait it out now, before we now it we all will have our watch, and we will be here next year complaining about Gen2 watch delivery

Reminder to those with waning excitement: first promised delivery day was May 13. I won't start getting upset until we get past May13, but if we get much past May 13, I'll grow impatient. If we get past May 27...I'll blow a gasket.

Yes, and at that my point I may consider canceling my order and waiting for v2.

Apple's previous track record on new product releases causes us to hold the company to a high standard, maybe unreasonably. I was up before the pre-order window and foolishly didn't try to use the Apple Store app until several minutes after the hour, resulting in a May 13 - May 27 delivery window. I was disappointed that I didn't secure release date delivery, but I don't blame Apple. No one forced me to buy the Watch when I saw the later delivery window. Sure, I wish I had it on my wrist now, but my disappointment does not equal bad faith or even bad business on Apple's part.

Finally, Apple should have just sold the damn watch without forcing the customer to accept the band Apple is giving them. Let them pick the band they want at checkout and ship the band separately. I know it doesn't make for fancy packaging but maybe they wouldn't have had to produce twice as many bands for one order, when a customer doesn't really want the Sports band in the first place.

I think the thing we have to remember is this...one of Apple's biggest selling points is CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE. Had Apple shipped the watch by itself, and then production issues limited the customer's choice of band, and the customer now had a watch in their hand that they couldn't wear...then, there would be people putting up rants about having a watch they can't use yet...

No, Apple did it right by shipping the bands with the watch...that way the customer has the full experience right out of the box.

What they did wrong was offer so many different variations with different bands. I agree that, straight out of the box, the AWS should have been a silver or space gray watch, both with black bands. AND THEN, let the customer spend $49 to add a color band to it. Same with the SS...sell it with a basic band, and then let the customer spend the extra to customize.

These are not MBPs that are customized in the order process and then built to specification...they all do the same thing...the only difference...the size and the finish. Don't add complexity where it isn't necessary. Let the customer customize after its in their possession. Just means more money for you in the long run. The more people with watches in their possession, the more bands/accessories you will sell.

Btw, if it wasn't obvious, my "reptilians" post was meant to be funny...kinda reflective of my morning before my first coffee, lol.

My wife has been sending me texts via her 38mm SGS that was delivered yesterday. She was asleep while I was up ordering them. I want to cry.

To my knowledge the first delivery date was April 24 (Launch Day), promised or insinuated. Never was I told if I did not order a 38mm blue band sport watch I would have to wait until May 13-27 for delivery. I have never had a problem preordering in the past, starting with the first iPad, and every model since its launch. And ordered 2 on each occasion of different colors. Same with iPhones. This is not cool and if I had not seen the joy my wife is getting out of her 38mm sport blue band watch and the envy I have, I may have “cut off my nose to spite my face”, and canceled my watch. Not going to happen.
This reminds me of the two buzzards setting in a tree, and one says to the other, “patience hell, let’s kill something”.

This thread went from order updates to a bitch session. Not a good way to start a Friday. Come on Apple ship my damn watch! :D

There was a report yesterday about the process used for the processors in the watch and how there may be room in the next version for a smaller processor and more chips. If they add both a cell radio with embedded sim card AND GPS capability on the next generation Apple Watch, they'll have a landslide of orders.

And by that I mean, perhaps, the most pre-orders of an Apple product ever. Think of the wait time then...

I'm in similar boat to people waiting as I ordered April 27, status says June and immediately also got EOD with 3-5 weeks. That said I am also seeing the other side of this.
And don't know if this will help anyone else but they did studies that showed people were happiest when anticipating a purchase (dopamine rush).

Once they get the purchase they may be content but is not the same happiness Rush ( it hits a different milder part of brain--no more dopamine ). Think of how you feel about your phone or iPad now --you may enjoy it but not same intensity as right before you got it.

By the way they say this is only for purchases -- for good experiences the happiness level stays up. So I'm starting to plan a nice outing this weekend...

Mini

So I ordered my 42mm SG on 4/10 like most here, I also ordered a new Mini Cooper on 4/22 that has already been produced and is on a boat making its way to the US. Sadly, I will probably get my new car before I get my watch. Seems kind of messed up that a custom built car can be manufactured and sent via boat and get to me before a mass produced watch that will be flown from China.

Congrats on the Mini we love ours and hope to love the watches as much

Another disappointment this morning with no movement. Apple is a victim of its own success because it currently can't fulfill the vast number of orders. But what frustrates me is that they announce this thing in October, essentially to tease people into not buying anything else and to have us wait until "early 2015". Then "early 2015" becomes late April for the official release launch. Then 4 minutes into ordering many models started getting sold out and pushed out for shipping timeframes. I recognize its just a watch, and I DO have more important things to worry about, but it's a little frustrating given they have been discussing this thing for 7 months. They had plenty of time for a large product supply buildup. I mean they announced and released the first iPhone in slightly less time and that was a completely new and revolutionary product which also needed a third party to work, AT&T.

Let's go Apple! iChop, iChop!

Supply

Except Apple knew we were coming...the car company didn't. By looking at a few websites I realized the SGS was going to be wildly popular before the launch...Still not apples to apples but I get it (pun realized but not intended). Seems Apple was so concerned about having too many watches sitting on the warehouse shelves, that they failed to get them where they needed to go...on people's wrists. I mean, I have seen more proof in the wild for Bigfoot than I have of this watch.

I'm patient until I realize that someone screwed up...they did. We'll live but the finish is a bit tarnished. My opinion...and my first/last pre-order experience.

I agree with a previous poster, they should have limited the choices on the initial release. Sports grey it the color to get they should have built up a supply before launch day of that and say they silver white sport and then just had bands separately. At least until the initial wave was over.

Wow, never thought of that. Many Apple Watch owners will own their watch for well less than a year before v2. Now pushing August delivery dates for some preorders - that's should be a big concern for Apple.

What makes you think they will be on a yearly update cycle? I don't think that's necessarily true.

Apple Is amazing. We're just having a bout of impatience. Not easy to be the worlds Santa Clause. Some of you guys should consider giving this company some slack. Just my opinion.

I wasn't saying Apple shouldn't ship the watch with a band, but not force someone to pick a color. I'll even say your idea is even better. All watches should ship with a set color. Silver gets white, SG gets black for the Sports watches and the Stainless Steel should be limited to bands within their category. Those watches should not have been allowed to ship with Sports bands as you could not order the sport with anything but a Sports band.

Apple PR can spin this anyway they like but it's still a failed launch. No matter what they want you to believe, the Watch is NOT here. Other then imgur posts I've yet to spot one in the wild. Online orders only, with up to a 4 month wait? Stalled shipments? Trickling supply chain? Faulty parts? Two weeks since launch and only shipped the first 7 minute of orders? Now there are rumors they are stocking stores with product? If they even think about opening sales in their retail stores prior to fulfilling the 4/10 online orders all hell will break loose. As the Men's Warehouse says, "I guarantee it"

I see one in the wild everyday; My wife ordered hers on the EVENING of the 11th (!) and received it the Tuesday after launch. She loves it, and I get to stare at it (and her) longingly everyday.

Date

I really hope to get it before the 26th. We are leaving for Hawaii that date and hope to have the watch in hand before that. When I got the 13th-27th timeline kind of got worried it would show up while we were gone. Sadly I was online before 12 refreshing the site only to find it opened on the desktop site late and luckily discovered the phone app got me in earlier but had I known to start with that would be the case I would have started with the app. Sigh!!! hopefully soon.

Same here, wish I would have known the app was going to be up first since the other didn't come on line till well after 12.

I think the problem they are having with the watch delivery that they did not have with the IPhone or IPad is the fact they had too many variants release day. If they had stuck with fewer color schemes and concentrated on the larger 42mm and maybe to a lesser degree the 38mm when building up supplies before release things may have gone smoother but that is spilled milk and I just hope they ramp up and get them out to us.

How is it a failed launch? Until they've failed to meet the estimated ship times that they were straight-forward with then you ordered, then it isn't a failed launch.

To me failed, is not able to meet and deliver the number of pre-orders on the launch date. That is just saying the launch was a failure not the watch itself. Once the inventory for pre-orders was gone, there should have been no more orders accepted. They had months to get in front of this and for some reason did not.
