Did we determine if the option to add a gift message disappearing has anything to do with the charges/shipment getting close?

Don't know for sure, but seems like a good sign. My order is still displaying the option. I'm xx:13:39. Was hoping that today would be my day but it's looking less and less likely.

With a spigen cover clip on case not bad at all just got yesterday in time for today's delivery

I just don't get the cases? What for? What do they do? Just a bumper?

Anybody have any thoughts on the reason for the huge burst one day and then (seemingly quiet) for a few days, then another burst?

It seems that, if the watches are rolling off an assembly line at a regular rate, then there would be a fairly constant number of charges each day. Or is it possible that it takes a few days to get enough watches off the line to fill up a shipment bound for the US?

I readily admit I have no direct experience in manufacturing and assembly lines, so I am only speculating.

Because it takes a while to fill enough shipping containers to send a 747 full of stuff.

Ummmm.....ragberry, I think you missed his (valid) point. Although you are right, Apple is within the delivery window, what he (and so many....myself included) are unhappy about is the fact that supply was underwhelmingly limited (if existent) prior to launch. The fact is, the watch "launched" about 21 days ago and they have yet to fulfill all of the pre-orders that were initiated in the first 12 mins of preorder window (to which was 2 weeks prior to "launch"). So yeah, it is true we cannot say that Apple lied about delivery times, but we can damn sure be unhappy about the AMOUNT of time it has taken for delivery to take place for an order that took place 34 days(ish) ago.

Is it Apple's fault? Maybe, maybe not. Perhaps the delays were due to the previously mentioned quality control issues with the haptic engines. I get that. I accept that. Could this issue been identified in the previous 7 months from the reveal? Maybe, maybe not. Could Apple have ramped up production a bit sooner than yesterday morning (yeah, I'm being mean about that one...lol)? Maybe, maybe not.

Perhaps much of the anxiety would not be evident today had there been a bit more communication from Apple on the launch, potential delays (and why). I'm not necessarily pointing fingers at them. I am sure, however, that Apple has learned a lot from this, and that the lessons learned can be utilized for more successful (and less stressful) launches in the future.

Current anxiety is born out of excitement to receive this watch. We all know of Apple quality and engineering. Yet, to YOUR point, we also have to understand Apple has never, ever, had enough product to fulfill demand on launch day.

<steps off pedestal> We may all now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

I know most want this "beaten dead horse" to stay dead but does anyone know how many SG 42 watches were sold? I don't and you don't and it may turn out the reality is that the number could be staggering. We will likely find out at the Keynote of WWDC how many have been sold. Sometimes you launch something and hit it out of the park farther than you wildest dreams.

The other thing that gets forgotten is the 3rd party supplier of the Taptic Engine had a huge failure rate early on. Who knows how many watches that had been assembled had to be reworked before they could be shipped. Huge time delay.

I don't have that option anymore and I'm at XX:19 unless I'm being dumb and missing it.

They could have changed the release date to say July when they would have more than enough of ALL the variations of watches. Would you rather chance ordering in April and maybe not get it until late May because of short supplies of that model, or would you like to wait until July?

There are plenty of other products be other companies that have not had supply to meet demand. Think of the hottest Christmas presents with people trampling and fighting each other to get the last one on the shelf. I'd much rather order online and wait then fight the crowd.

Also, before you purchase, the Apple did show the anticipated shipping window. If that was unacceptable, you could either no complete the purchase or wait until they are available online or in store to make your purchase. There are many other sites that will either tell you an item is back-ordered and either not let you buy it or not give an anticipated delivery date or worse yet, let you buy it then send you an email later saying it's unavailable and will be delivered as a later undetermined date.

You also have not paid for anything until your item ships.
I'm wearing mine now. I don't want to wait until July because not everyone else has theirs.

Just got a charge from apple for what I assume to be AppleCare since it was $49. My order was XX:16:36 so I'm not getting too excited, but this is the first activity of any sort since I ordered!

I wouldn't look in to that too much because I have never had that option to add a gift message.

I am wondering if we will have to wait until Friday to see another big wave, like last week, I hope not. I am crossing my fingers that it starts tonight.

xx:13:53

Yeah I was hoping to see some movement today by now. Hopefully soon we get something at least.

So I called Apple Support to add AppleCare+ to my Watch; when the guy answered he gave me the spiel about wanting to fix any issues I might be having with my Watch or answer any questions and all that. When I told him I just wanted to add AppleCare+, he was like "Oh! Yeah, I'd love to handle that for you!"

They have to be getting more silly questions and phone calls about the Watch than usual being a new product line; glad I was able to throw him a softball. Be nice to the customer support reps when you call. ;)
