If it comes out that Apple intentionally constrained supply to build demand then I fear my image of Apple and the products they create will be forever tarnished.

This is one of the Anti-Apple memes at EVERY Apple launch. They claim this EVERY time and are proven wrong EVERY time.

Hey Guys, 265 pages is a lot to comb through, so I'm not sure if this has been posted yet. But looking back at a thread when apple watches originally shipped, people could see when their watch was first turned on in manufacturing because it logged activity, all the way through shipment and to people's doors.

Ordered a xx:07:47, got mine on May 12. Looked into activity, and it looks like the watch was initially activated, boxed and shipped to holding on April 28-29, then just sat there until Monday, May 12 when it was fedexed overnight to me. Keep in mind, I didn't open it until Tuesday, so that activity logged on Monday is the watch sealed in the box in shipment, proving it didn't move Sunday or any day before that.

Any theories on how this could not just be artificial inventory constraint? Looks pretty iron-clad to me.

we are also suffering because of black marketing of these watches as well..........

I don't think so! I ordered my iphone 6 plus at 7AM (PST) in the morning and i received it launch date. That's 7 hours after orders opened. I ordered the Apple Watch 15min after the hour and this is week 5. Back then iPhone 6 plus black market on ebay was crazy! crazy prices.

For me the frustration comes down to the fact that I tried to do everything right and yet I'm still waiting without any real idea as to when it will come.

I decided very early on that I wanted their Watch. I was up at 2:45 am eastern time on pre-order day and knew which one I wanted. The store didn't come up until a few minutes after official time so my order didn't go through until 12 minutes after 3:00 and I got the 5/13-5/27 delivery date. Now, I know Apple has not missed my delivery window but with such slow movement, I'm really starting to doubt that I'll see it on the early end and could be waiting another couple of weeks.

Simply said, it's frustrating. It's starting to lose the "magic" for me I guess.

That time frame is probably the standard lag time between being manufactured / tested and arriving at your door. The watches that shipped in the first wave (April 24th) were probably manufactured weeks before that. That dead time doesn't mean it was sitting somewhere to constrain supplies. Things don't magically jump from an assembly line manufacturer in China to your doorstep instantly. For all we know, that time it was turned on could have been midway through it's production process.

Also there is a way to check week of manufacture by looking at the serial number using this key:

Exactly the same as me! I feel your pain.

I sat there at 3:00, refreshing the web page (I had the EXACT order site bookmarked)... nothing... 3:01... nothing... 3:02... I'll check MacRumors... ah - the SITE is down, but using the Apple Store app is possible now.... but I can't DO that!

2 days before I PREPARED by putting exactly what I needed on an Apple Gift Card (which I paid for in CASH - after I saved up).... so I did everything right... EXCEPT how was I to know that the Apple Store app would not accept Gift cards? (I told an Apple Store retail employee my 'game plan' and they assured me it would work)

So there I was waiting, impatiently, already hearing about people's orders going to May and beyond.... and I'm STILL NOT ABLE TO BUY ONE. Because Apple decided not to put their web site up.

The web site finally goes up at 3:08am. I get to the store, perfect, order, enter the Gift Card number (that I already had in my cut-and-paste buffer to save time).... then get to the sign in page, and submit... all within a minute, and I get my email at 3:12am.

So I was super prepared, and it also ruined my entire next day, because I had a tough time sleeping before 3am, because I didn't want to sleep through my alarm, and a tough time getting back to bed, to get up at 6am for my day.

It also hurts that Apple chose to have the Eastern US time zone to have the WORST POSSIBLE pre-order time. Australia got the best - 5pm, after being able to try on watches all day, while the EAST got screwed. Midnight PST - so much better, order before going to bed.

My order status changed - Finally last night
Available to ship: 5-6 weeks
Delivers: 22 Jun, 2015 - 29 Jun, 2015

Apple Watch Sport 42mm Space Gray Aluminum Case with Black Sport Band

Order on : April 11, 2015 4:15 PM

Wow. So between now and June 22 only orders placed within 37 hours (at best) will be shipped. I can imagine the bulk of orders were placed within the first 12 hours but still-wow.

Has anyone seen order times with shipping windows in early June (between May 27 and June 22) for this model?

btw: I had my finger on the button to preorder with you guys but went back to bed vowing to not get caught up this hype (yet again). I wanted to make sure I'd like the size of the 42, so waited to try it on. Ordered on April 22. BUT I still follow along with the hype in this thread anyway. :p

Just noticed preparing for shipment on my order page (I looked because my phone said my credit card was charged) - yeah!

I'm in MN - order xx:12:02.

(As an aside not really an Apple to apple comparison but I participated in a Kickstarter for Central Standard Timing's world's thinnest watch. 2 years later they blew through over $1,000,000 and now they say they need another million or more and they claim they have shipped some watches. Of course Kickstarter isn't a store, but my money is gone without any product.)

Do you think that when a watch is packaged from the factory that they immediately put it on a plane and send it out to you?

Or is it more likely that they wait until they have enough to fill a plane or a pallet or whatever?

That's pretty amazing, considering I and many others ordered iPhone 6 Plusses less than an hour after orders opened and didn't get them until over a week after launch. Your experience is not the norm.
