Thank you guys.... again.

Will this be compatible with HD-DVD, I know i'm asking a stupid question. But if you don't ask, you don't get?

From reading up on their forum, no. However there are some windows only HD-DVD rippers, but none for the mac.

THANKS HB CREW!!!

(Now if VH would easily do the same thing with 2 audio tracks in MP4 we'd be all set!)

I have to give kudos to Handbrake. I just spent the past 45 minutes comparing the new Handbrake to the new Visual Hub. Here's the results :

Export a HD mpeg-2 5.1 Dolby Digital file from EyeTV.

Open the file with handbrake
Export using the default Apple TV setting..However I did have to reduce the video size manually to 960X540

Time : 1m 4sec

Did the same except I used Visual Hub. VH does automatically reduce the video size to 960X540. That is the only plus.

Time : 2m 49sec.

This was using a new Mac Pro 2.8 8-Core with the HD2600 Video card and 8GB RAM.

Handbrake ya done good !!

I would appreciate it if anyone who has tried can post what the changes entail on the GUI. Is it to simply select a new "Apple TV 5.1" option or do you have to filddle with the audio tabs.

I have a HD-DVD Ripper, I just need to convert the .EVO file to .MOV. Can't find it anywhere? Yet you can download the files of the net... which I don't want to do??!!!!

Either use the ATV preset (remember to update the built in presets first), or you can select the codec that says "AVC/H.264 Video AAC + AC3 Audio" and it will change the mixdowns in the Audio tab to include having AAC/AC3 as an option if the input track is AC3.

Cheers, Ed.

Dynaflash: Thanks for everything.

Everyone else: What are the benefits of encoding to M4V vs MP4? Seems like .M4V is specific to the apple eco system but is there any plus aside from that?

Thanks in advance

You guys are just going to be blown away by this new version.

I've done a few of my DVD already, and the quality of the video is so good, your guest will never know its streaming video from your ATV. The new DD 5.1 support playing on my 7.2 ( dual sub ) Onkyo is so powerful and clear, I'm just giddy with joy!!! All through your ATV :D
