I find it weird that people are so sure what model they want to get. I intend to get iPhone 13 of some sort as my 6s is really crawling towards the grave and I need a replacement but I will not decide on what particular model of 13 I will buy until all the new models are revealed.

People complaining how they don’t need 120Hz, well a modern display will also be variable and allow always on display, plus lower battery consumption for other sub-60Hz activity.

Just think of the 120Hz as a bonus. Like how the iPad Pro has an M1 that is completely pointless for the tasks iPadOS is capable of.

honest question. Why would I want an always on display?

Since Apple appears to be throwing out their major advantage over the competition, privacy, I'm done with them. Why pay double for the same thing?
Ditto. Fortunately for Apple only a small percentage of their customers cares about privacy and other human rights.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max has been such a great device that it will take some really cool new features to get me to upgrade this year.

I truly don't understand the obsession with high refresh displays, especially on something so tiny. I've had an iPad Pro with the Pro Motion display, and I really can't tell one way or the other any difference from my iPhone or my desktop monitor which is 60hz.
For some, especially tech blog muggles, specs are everything, the only thing, the reason for existence. Even though there is absolutely no way 120hz will make any difference on a smartphone screen that crowd will swear they see it. If the specs are there they will claim to see or feel them, like audiophiles or gamers.

To check the time or if you have any notifications without having to interact with your phone. Especially useful for countdown timers where you want the information to update but don’t need the phone fully open and refreshing at 60Hz.

If Apple felt like making more than the minimum effort they could even allow widgets to present information like weather or calendar. So when you go to pick up your phone you see something like “rain expected in 10 minutes” without manually unlocking and checking.

tldr; quality of life

If iPhone 13 needs iOS 15 I won’t be upgrading to it.
There is a (very?) high chance that 13 will be released with IOS 15. At least if previous years is anything to go by. But i guess only Apple knows so.

More interested how much Apple will be selling the XR or 11 for in my country when the 13 is released. Right now, the base 64GB XR is priced at around $530, which is actually not bad considering the US MSRP being $499. This is in contrast with the 64GB iPhone 12 being priced at more than $900 (compared to US price of $799).

The one good thing about Apple's incremental updates to iPhones is that I have no reason to upgrade every year, or every other year, or even ever 3rd year. My iPhone XR is still great. I am good at least until iPhone 14 gets released in Fall of 2022!

I'm still on an iPhone 8 and AW S0, so I'm overdue for a double-upgrade. I love the size of the 8, but my eyes are starting to get worse, so as much as I think I would love the mini form-factor, I think I'll have to go for the regular. Definitely not doing the max thing though!

It has been beaten to death, but unless you specifically want a smaller iPhone the mini just isn't a good deal. It needs to be priced less and/or have better battery to attract a wider base than the people like me (who would gladly pay the same price for the more convenient form factor).

We have three iPhone 6s's in our family and are looking to upgrade. Definitely want the mini form factor, but didn't get the current one because of the daft price and battery life. Hopefully they get it right this time, but if they don't we'll just get battery replacements for our existing phones.

For me it's not about one single feature, like a 120hz display but a collection of features. So, if the 13 (or whatever it's called) has that 120hz display *and* an always on display *and* a smaller notch *and* something like an astrophotography mode then I'll be tempted to upgrade even though the design won't change much.

My 12 mini has been awesome, got a great deal on trading my X in so I'm only paying $1 a month for it and the battery life has been great. If they release a 13 mini it should also be a hit.
