Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with that device, so be advised you are on a forum thread where most of us have iPhones.

It sounds to me like you may have an issue with APN settings. I don't have an Android device, but I've compiled directions that should be able to help you:

1. Touch the Menu key
2. Touch Settings
3. Touch Wireless & networks
4. Touch Mobile networks
5. Touch Access Point Names

Then, input the following settings where applicable:

APN: att.mvno
Username: (blank)
Password: (blank)

MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.33:80

Once you have that in, save the changes and restart the phone.

Let me know if that works.

No it didnt work. i already made these settings when i first got it in the mail. i guess ill have to just keep messing with it. i dont know why im not allowed to browse. it just keep sending me to the tracfone homepage

I'm really thinking about switching over, data doesn't matter I use most of my data on my ipad.

Do you really lose visual voicemail?!? I've grown so used to it that I don't think I can do without it. How does it work with ST, do you have to call your number and check VM the old fashioned way?

You know what... I'm not really sure. I haven't set up voicemail yet on my number. I've never used voicemail before (in any form), so I'm not too bothered about it.

yes. Long hold 1. Is losing vvm really a deal breaker to give up unlimited everything for $45/mo?! Get used to the old way again lol

I would recommend getting the YouMail app for a visual voice mail replacement. It is quite awesome

If you jailbreak, you can have it replace the VM button in the phone app. If not, you just access your VM's through the app itself. A minor inconvience and very easy to get used to

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/youmail/id308331524?mt=8

Visual Voicemail requires a server-side component. It works only on AT&T postpaid accounts. It will not work on any prepaid service. Replacement would be something like Google Voice or YouMail.

Personally I hate voicemail, and Google Voice does the trick when I need it. No way in hell I'd pay AT&T the extra $50+ for that "feature" but to each their own.

Cydia YouMail that is integrated into your phone app isn't ready for iOS5 yet...

The itune version is a standalone app...a minor irritation to open a seperate app to listen to voicemail but whatever works for each person...

Really kind of amazing that YouMail hasn't been updated for iOS 5. We're gonna have iOS 6 before it's finally updated. Does anyone know if the YouMail team is still working on an iOS 5 version or did they give up?

Using Google Voice for visual voicemail isn't too much of a pain. Plus it has extra features like transcription.

I very much doubt the same developers are responsible for the jailbreak application integration.

as the early i4 adopters, my ATT contract is coming to an end in one week time and thinking of switching to ST....

I have been following this thread in its early days and since it has been awhile now, can somone chime in and let us know how is the service so far?

I have been reading the reviews on prepaidreviews and it is pretty pretty bad, some reviews are downright scary...

You will be ok with ST, besides it is a prepaid service and you can always go back to AT&T provided you are out of contract with them.

I'm happy so far, (have not been saving, but redirecting monies towards paying expensive gas on my auto per month), but in terms of service it runs good here in S. Florida. Data speeds are not as fast as AT&T used to be, but I'm able to pull fast enough speeds to steam YouTube and browse the web. About the unlimiyed data I don't really know if it is true they'll cut you off after 2GB, b/c I have been pulling per month only about 1.3GB (under the radar), the remaining 3.5GB I have pulled them over wi-fi. Talk and messaging is uimitted and so is international messaging as well so you'll feel free as to not go over either. The best thing about ST is that it runs off AT&T towers so you are getting pretty much the same quality of service as AT&T minus the price tag.

If you're in for the saving, and ability to swap a GSM SIM at anytime, choose ST.

I'm entering my third month with Straight Talk, and couldn't be happier. Except for paying my bill every 30 days, I have no idea who my provider is in day to day use, i.e. AT&T, Sprint, Strait Talk, Virgin, etc...it just works. Don't even think about limits - need to make a call, send a text, look something up on google? Do it and don't worry about it. Only thing I'll say about the data "catch" is that their TOS explicitly say it is only for mobile web and not intended for streaming tons of video or tethering devices. If you don't do A LOT of either of those, the data really is unlimited. I use it freely for standard uses (safari, youtube, email, weather, maps, googling things, etc etc) and have not had any problems.

Thanks a bunch for the your inputs...I guess it wouldn't hurt to give ST a try once my contract is finished...worth a little hassle to cut the bill in half :)

Some reviews actually noted that not only they would cut off your service if you go over the 2Gb data limit, but if you used too many minutes or too much texting, to a particular number as one reviewer noted, they would also threaten and even ban that number....:eek::eek::eek:

but I guess YMMV in using such a heavily subsidized unlimited* service....

PS: will update in the future of the experience with this service!

Yeah, I've been using them about 2.5 months and it's been pretty good. I'm not a very heavy user though, so I've never hit the limits.

Does straight talk have limits on talking and texting? I go through ~5000 minutes per month on at&t. Thanks.

Susan have you tried using the 3 month auto debit payment they offer. I have the month to month and every month it'll auto debit my bank debit, send me an email+text confirmation and I don't need to worry about loggin in every month to make the monthly payment. They offer monthly, 3 month and 6 month if I'm not mistaking. Set, pay and forget :)

Haha it's SUNSEAN not Susan, but no worries, easy mistake :p

And yes, I'm actually enrolled in the auto-debit, but I'm only doing it monthly, not every 3/6 months, as I wanted to use ST for a while before committing to anything long term. But now that I'm in my third month and everything seems great, I might switch it to the 3-month option, as I think you save a little money in the long run that way too.

Sorry for the typo Susean LOL blame the iPhone auto correct.

I'm in the same situation because I didn't know if I was going to keep it or go back to AT&T, but I might switch to the 3 mo. As well.
