Some people don't read through the whole thread, or they don't remember. :-|

First of all, the information given by the other user was posted external and as you might know these steps require creating a APN profile using the Apple config utility. The config utility does allow you to create an APN, but it gets more complicated when configuring the APN settings, unless on the 4S with the SIM swap utility.

Now I do understand that many users don't have the 4S, they may have the 3GS or 4. This doesn't mean I don't read through the whole post, as a matter of fact back about 4 months ago I kept doing research on how to go about changing MMS settings w/o having to JB. If you read my previous posts on this thread you will see a lot of activity from me back in that time table.

I'm not offended or mad, because I know that on these forums comes out more good informative and constructive material as a smartphone/iphones community, then commotions and insults and that is what matters.

Quick question about ST: can you use data and talk at the same time like you could on ATT? I imagine you could but I just want to make sure.

Yep, no offense intended. I should have made it clearer that I was including myself in that. So often it's easier to ask a question a second or third time rather than taking the time to read through a long thread, especially if it's over 10 pages (like this one). It's more efficient for myself, but takes other peoples' time. It's basically selfish. :)

So yes, I was including myself as someone who forgets and asks a question again.

LOL it's ok, many of these post are so long that we forget we have posted in them or have review them in the past.

Ps: is like searching on Craigslist electronics and having called the same person twice or three times with the same inquiry.

Lol I've done that before . Im wondering how fast Red Pocket Mobile is in Miami . Would anyone know this information?

Anybody in NYC using an unlocked iPhone with StraightTalk? How's the service?

Edit: just caught up on the thread. Service in NYC sounds terrible.

Yeah I'm using a Verizon iphone unlocked with the gevey ultra sim in NYC on my straight talk sim. It works great, but not the fastest speeds. I average consistently about 1.5 mbps. Not great, but definitely usable.

Hey Sunsean, about to do the same setup as you but before I take the plunge, are you around midtown by any chance? I left AT&T a year ago because they were practically unusable near that area but Verizon is just as bad now.

The $20 a month savings sounds appealing.

But is this service only on networks that ATT owns and operates? I seem to recall that, in the past, prepaid plans wouldn't work if you would have been roaming with the native service. And I normally go into areas that are roaming for ATT at least once a year.

The other problem for me is that, though my contract ends in July, I don't know how much longer I will be able to use my iPhone 4. It has never been quite the same since the orange juice incident. Noise cancellation is impaired, can't use the speakerphone option, and the headset plug is very flakey.

So do I just get the next iPhone when it comes out, and continue to pay the $20/month premium for my current plan ($67.01 total last bill). Over 2 years, I guess it still pay to switch, $20 * 24 = $480, subsidy of $350. But is it enough to worry about for me?

what service you choose? ATT or T-mob for ATT this is what you need to have.

This does not require you to be jailbroken correct?

Unlockit.co.nz also installs the APN and proxy for MMS.

so mms works with this?

I'm using it on two lines both with 3Gs. No reason to unlock. Why unlock to use T-Mobile's poorly designed network? AT&T coverage so much better. Only little hiccup is that unless ATT unlocks the phone, it is not possible to get to all fields of the APN FIELDS for setting MMS.

The data is 3G! Consistently getting close to or exceeding 1mb down. With favorable conditions, I have seen DL >2.0Mb

Question: is anyone using StraightTalk that was on Tmobile prior? If so, can you comment on whether ST is better than Tmo? In terms of call quality and data?

Hey, I actually switched from TMobile to ST today. Service is running excellently, so far. Good data speeds (since I'm running through AT&T towers), sound quality is good, and everything appears to working fine.

It is a better experience than TMobile, and im saving $10/month to boot.

so I finally made the switch from AT&T...

transferring number and activation takes little as 10 minutes! And it has been only 1 day but so far so good lol! :)

Loving the unlimited international texting! :)

I'm happy for you. You'll be saving tons of monies, imagine how much it would cost to communicate via Int'l text messages with the big carriers vs. ST :)

International Texts on ST

I just Chester's last post. Am I to understand that ST DOES include international texts? I emailed their customer service folks yesterday and was told that the $45 does NOT include international texts. That said, I read a post somewhere that someone has successfully texted internationally. What have folks experiences with this been? I'm dying to know.

i can text international just fine to Singapore and Vietnam numbers

ST sounds really good on paper and so far for me! Hopefully it will stay that way for a long time! :)
