Carrier $45 Unlimited Talk, Text, Data on Straight Talk (AT&T MVNO)?

Nice one... capitalising your post totally makes it more believable.

+1 Haha. Love how they write this crazy sketchy post, and expect people to ditch their safe legit ST service for a hacked super sketchy offer, and on top of everything and the huge risk people would be taking, it's not even a huge savings.

Thanks, I think I'll spend the extra $10/month for legit service.

Sorry for the typo Susean LOL blame the iPhone auto correct.

I'm in the same situation because I didn't know if I was going to keep it or go back to AT&T, but I might switch to the 3 mo. As well.

Yeah, I will look further into it, if there are savings involved I might do the 3 month option, otherwise I'm fine with month-to-month. That's one of the things I like about ST, not having to be committed to a long contract, so unless the savings are significant I'll probably just stay month-to-month.

My tentative plan at this point is to stay with ST until the new iPhone drops, and then possibly get it with a new contract with one of the big boys. Unless ST can deliver LTE speeds on the new iPhone, I don't know if I'll stay with them, even though the plans are so cheap.

I brought a locked GSM iPhone 3GS to StraightTalk a few weeks ago and it was fairly cheap and easy with no hacks required. I picked up the handset from New Egg ($200), the ST SIM ($15) and the ST unlimited service ($45 recurring).

StraightTalk provides general directions with the SIM and the iPhone Config Utility, available from Apple, is used to create the provisioning profile on the phone.

May I get somebody to look over my settings on my AT&T iPhone 4. Does it have the proper data/mms configuration for straight talk? If not, may I get some help in getting them right. I edited them via TetherMe

Yes these settings are correct. With these settings you'll be able to send and receive MMS. In my 4S I don't have visual voicemail setup (I don't even know it is necessary). But yes, you do have the same settings as I have so they have to be right.

Thank you for the confirmation. Hope you have a great weekend.

Thats inconvenient, why don't they just sell the sim locally at like Walmart or 7-11?
Probably because there's not enough consumer demand to stock them at those places. The potential market is only those with AT&T iPhones that are out of contract.

Red Pocket and iPhones

I have a 3G iPhone and service with AT&T. Bought 4S for my wife and now my bill is outrageous; had to buy data and have unlimited text plan. Neither of us use much data or text but are paying for it. We do talk. Red Pocket seems like a good deal, once she is off contract. I looked at Red Pocket at Frys and they told me I had to get unlocked phone. Several writers on this site say No. Please confirm. Can I use Red Pocket with 3g and then with 4s once off contract, and w/o unlocking?

According to this thread, you don't need an unlocked iPhone (just like Straighttalk). I only use Straighttalk, so I don't know for sure, but I think it should work.

I am using a locked AT&T iPhone 4 with Red Pocket, works fine just need to jailbreak it to get MMS messages.

You can use ANY AT&T MVNO. This includes Air Voice, Jolt, Red Pocket, Straight Talk, PureTalk, and several others. No unlocking or jailbreaking required. The only caveat is that MMS often does not work without either a jailbreak (older iPhones) or an iPhone 4S "SIM swap trick" which can allow you to change the necessary settings to get MMS working. Voice, Text, and Data are easy. If you are like me and don't use MMS anyways I don't even bother.

Actually, you don't need to jailbreak or do the SIM swap to get MMS working. There was a post a few months ago on HowardForums where someone posted the steps required to activate MMS on StraightTalk without jailbreaking.
I tried it and I'm pleased to say that it works.

How is that? I have a 4S and I had to do the SIM swap in order to get MMS working.

LOL You don't remember? Here are some earlier posts in this thread....

Excellent news! It is now possible to activate MMS capabilities on an iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1 without jailbreaking.

Thanks to gillham over at HowardForums

I had tried it a few days ago with no success, but with additional testing, was able to get it to work.:)

You know I actually learned about this via the youtube video I saw here and on my very first post, I did state so but I'm sorry I didn't provide the video tutorial here ==> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y9wU8J24RA4&feature=my_favorites&list=FLJZUvSCpSGql5vNBv6el7QA

So those who had AT&T before, StraightTalk works just as well?

I am contemplating making the switch if I can cut my bill each month by 50%.
