I don't think this is their strategy... Maybe because they reduced the production of the iPhone.

Don't know about NYC, but I grabbed a 16GB iPhone yesterday at an ATT store. They had plenty in stock.

Which ATT store...I had to go to the Park Meadows one yesterday to get their last one (or so I thought). I still haven't busted the shrink wrap on it yet if Apple announces a price drop or new model..... and articles like this make me want to wait even longer....but it is so tempting.

They are still all out- its been nearly a week. That combined with the apple store at Roosevelt Field on Long Island being closed for renovation makes it really difficult to get an iphone around here

There's always Walt Whitman mall or the dozens of ATT stores in the area.

no 16gbs anywhere

i was in the walt whitman store on Friday and i heard someone who worked for apple saying there are very little of them left on the eastern seaboard.

April 1st is Apple's 32th birthday AND it happens to be a tuesday.

May we see a 32GB iPhone on April 1st and maybe a pricefall, and EOL of 8GB?
EDIT: EOL= End Of Life

Hmm... This makes since...

Lots hope they host an event.

FWIW, the Cherry Hill Apple Store (opened yesterday) was flush with 8 and 16GB models. But that's about an hour's drive from NYC, down the NJ Turnpike.

They also did not seem to be imposing any limits on iPhone sales, as I witnessed a couple people walking out of that store with bags full of iPhone boxes, no doubt on their way to being unlocked and eBayed.

Outages in PA

I went to the Ardmore store today which is just outside of Philadelphia and the sales lady said they were nearly out of iphones. There must be something going on. I mentioned that there probably is a new phone coming soon. Usually I get a snide remark from the sales people saying that they know no such thing but she didn't even fight me on it and just smiled. Who knows.. take it for what you will.
