A very good idea there Sir! And the kids can use it without me being worried about them losing my work on the Pro.

Hey guys,

I know this can be subjective, but please help me. I recently upgraded my Apple TV 4th gen to 4K version, on the same 1080p TV, same setup, same movie (TV show) I noticed different, more vibrant and sharper picture with ATV 4k. Why is that? is that because of some sort of software upscaling or better processing that 4k has, or I am just subjectively see better picture because there is a new toy in the room?

There is a few factors on this, one the frame rate match on the 4k (which wasn't present till recently on the 4) can make a world of difference in smoothing out the picture. Also the 4k does have an upscaler that is reasonably decent (miles ahead of tv's but a bit behind the shield imo) and seems to get better with every update.

Hi guys,

I have an Apple TV 4K playing on a 1080p TV (it's a 21:9 set and I just can't live without that ratio!).

I've been reading on this thread about the HD Fury Linker. I've also read elsewhere about the HD Fury Vertex https://www.hdfury.com/product/vertex-4k60-444-600mhz/

I wanted to know which one would be best for my setup to play 4K on my antique TV. I know I won't get full 4K, but want to know if it's worth me buying either of the Linker or Vertex (the Vertex is considerably more expensive). Also, if Apple ever brings out Atmos, would either of these devices pass it through my AVR?

My setup is this;

Philips 58PFL9955H 1080p television
Apple TV 4K
Onkyo TXNR-3010 AVR (some blurb from Onkyo regarding 4K upscaling... "while a combination of Qdeo™, HQV®, and ISF technology upscales and calibrates video sources to 4K resolution".
HDBaseT http://store.aclasstechnology.com/h...ectional-ir-bi-directional-poh-poe-1691-p.asp

The Apple TV 4K is connected to the Onkyo. The Onkyo goes via the HDBaseT to the Philips TV.

Have you tried AVSforum? They have a Video Processors section, you might have better luck getting an answer there.
