Several movies are being updated to reflect 4K status on iOS iTunes Store. You won't see it in your library, but if you open the iTunes app and search, you will see:

This is exciting. Can't wait to see which movies get upgraded!

I wish there was an easier way to filter instead of just going to a movie and seeing if it says 4K. Is there a list somewhere being compiled?

It is exciting! I haven't seen a list yet. Of note, I see this on my iPhone, but not my iPad Pro yet. I am not running iOS 11 beta, only 10.

I've noticed when I checked some of my movies show HD really quick then switch to SD. They are even showing as SD in the TV app now. The Back to the Future movies are the main ones I noticed this with. Hopefully it's just a momentary glitch while they are doing the upgrade.

Can someone tell me how I can redownload my movies in 4K? They are not showing as 4k in iTunes from my MacBook.
I suppose that may all depend on what titles you've been looking at and if they even have a 4k version available.
Can your MacBook do 4K?

I checked Alien: Covenant which is in 4K on my iPad Pro, but not showing in iTunes. It just says "purchased".

I have a 2016 15" MBP (maxed out) and a 5K LG external display. Would that work?

Alien Covenant is showing up on my iPad for £9.99 4K to buy in UK.

That's half the price of a Blu-ray!
Amazon 4K are £23!

I hope the ATV 4K has 24Hz/P output!

Downloading American Sniper to my iPad Pro 10,5 with HDR enabled in settings gives me a filesize of 7,16gb. 1080P version is 5,18gb. Not sure if this is a 4k file of the film and the iPad downscales it to fit it's resolution or if it is a 1080p file with some HDR magic (which would be a first)... Kong Skull Island same story 6,41gb v 4,64gb. Looks Amazing btw.

Can you transfer it back to iTunes if you sync the iPad?
[doublepost=1505576158][/doublepost]Hmm I just downloaded it and it came in at 7.16 GB. Turned the HDR setting off and downloaded it again now it says 4.8 GB downloading.

Looks like some of the movies in my library are updating to 4K HDR/DV on my iPhone 7. I haven't had to do anything special, just went through my library and found a few.

Also, Everest, Kingsman, The Martian, Star Trek (was previously SD).

Weird that they upgraded Star Trek (2009) from SD to 4K, but I still have a few movies that are still SD (Iron Man 2, Inglorious Basterds, The Dark Knight, Fast 5, The A-Team, The Avengers). These were not purchased directly from Apple, but Digital Copies from a Blu-ray combo pack. But then again, Star Trek was also purchased this way. So, I'm not sure what the criteria is.

I don’t think any of these films have been released in 4k yet

Ooh I will have to keep an eye on this myself as my Star Trek is SD (I'm in the UK)

I'm in the UK and I can't find anything that shows up in 4K, is it a region thing?

I was gonna say have a look at Kingsman, Alien Covenant, Logan but any reference to 4K or HDR has been removed on my iPhone 6sPlus, however still showing on my AppleTV 4.

Well at least you're having the same issue, I saw them the other day as well but it's all disappeared. Prob come back on the next IOS update.

There's an about AppleTV 4K guide on Apple.com
It mentions at the bottom if your TV doesn't support HDR10 or Dolby Vision, hope I don't run into any issues as mine has neither.
If I have to set the resolution at 1080p and let the TV upscale to 4K then I may as well just stick with the ATV4.
