You can't even stream 4K right now. Give it time... a download option might be coming.

I meant I cannot stream at 4K ANYWHERE. Even with a 300 Mbps plan, Spectrum absolutely sucks in our neighborhood. Streaming in HD with Apple TV lags sometimes even. So I usually download it then do home streaming.

I can stream 4K with my 20mbps DSL service, but my point is that nobody can stream Apple's 4K at this time as no one has a Apple TV 4K yet.

A download option might be coming next week or the next. It's still early...

Rent the 4K HDR UHD Blu-ray from 3D Bluray rental.com for $5.99. The picture quality will be much better than a streaming version.

Gotta say, pretty cool and ‘generous’ (and smart) of Apple to upgrade HD purchases to UHD free. I just wonder how broad their selection will be,

...This alone might push ATV4k market forward quick, and even surpass UHD BluRay’s which have been slow to adopt (but helped by Xbox 1S having a 4K blu ray drive)
That's probably the only pro-consumeristic act they pulled.

Well that's the issue, and why this will fail. If the 4K Apple TV is required to GET the 4K content, I cannot download it on my mac over night and use home sharing.

Would the download option be the only reason to buy the 64GB vs 32GB ATV 4K?

I do not use discs. I watch content digitally. 4K digitally will still be better than 1080p digitally.

Weird under Purchased I show I own The Hateful Eight and in the iTunes Store the cloud icon is missing. Same goes for The Dark Knight.

Anyone know if the Dolby Vision movies will also play in HDR10? My TV only supports HDR10 and I'm seeing a mix across the store. Some movies say HDR and some say Dolby Vision. Am just wondering if I buy a movie that says Dolby Vision will it also play in HDR10 as well. Thanks!

The ATV 4K will definitely be required to display on your TV (unless perhaps you have a 4K capable Mac connected to your 4K TV).

However, a 4K download option might still be coming to your Mac. Apple's still working on things.

Discs are digital. 4K discs will be better than 4K streaming.

You know very well what I meant. It is a common distinction. Digital distribution vs physical media.

I'm not saying 4K streaming will be better than discs. Where did I say that?!

Yes but if the Apple TV is required to request 4K content, I cannot use home sharing and it will just be useless to a lot of people that have issues with their internet.

This is going to fail so bad. Seriously, no download option? I cannot stream at 4K. Internet in the US sucks horribly.

Beat me to it... I have so called 56mbps from TW and I'm lucky if my stuff looks 1080p for a full hr straight.

Not true, 1080P streaming was the same as the Blu-ray counterpart. 4K shows on Netflix were the same as the UHD counterpart as well. I’d assume Apple’s h.265 codec will be able to handle it as well. The flags are there but I don’t believe the files are available.

holy **** am i reading that right, John Wick for 8 bucks in 4K?
And here I am carelessly throwing 25-30 bucks a 4K UHD disc at Best Buy....

I feel like i've wasted so much money.....

4K titles should have never costed more to begin with, physical, digital or otherwise.
