And some people are still wondering why people like me are buying screen protectors or cases

That's so sad. Buying a screen protector for a watch only points to one thing bad watch design. Oh and silly consumers who buy crap design.

check your credit card. my credit card has 90 days of accidental damage and 1 year extra warranty.

Also, if you don't have those services with your cc, I would attempt to return the watch and just tell apple you are not satisfied with its function and quality. You do have 14 day return policy and although its scratched up, that's the only issue. I think apple will accept it back.

He'd better not. Than the rest of us pay for his stupid mistake.

I dare the OP to post a youtube video of him crashing his Seiko into a concrete wall the same way he did his new watch and showing us the lack of scratches.

Integrity is when you do the right thing even when it hurts. If the OP has integrity, he'll either keep the watch or sell it. But returning it to Apple would be dishonest.

You already pay for Apple's huge margins, why is another fraction of a fraction of a cent bothering you?

This is precisely the excuse I used when I pirated Commodore 64 games. I at least had the excuse of just being a dumb kid.

Calling it a "stupid mistake" seems unfair. More like "something bound to happen." I get the rationale for buying a cheaper first gen product, and I get that some people prefer the look of the sport. But a lot of these watches are going to look like crap way too soon.

Sorry, but...what?

Go take another glass-faced watch and drag it along a concrete wall.

I wouldn't buy a screen protector to wear on a watch, either, which is why I bought SS AW.

Thx to both of you for the clarification.
I think I was thinking ac, not ac+.
Perhaps I did not properly understand the difference.
If that is indeed the case, & they will cover even cosmetic scratches, & add it sight unseen... I stand humbly corrected.

Edit: really not trying to start an argument where none exists... but, it also occurs to me: how would one provide proof of purchase from something off Craigslist... technically, couldn't it well be stolen? Those are all local cash deals.

It's not hard, as long as it's legit. I bought mine off of craigslist, but got a copy of the original receipt, checked the serial number to make sure it was correct and had the name of the previous owner. That night I called Apple support to change the registration to my name and provided them with the name of the original owner. Today I called Apple support to add AppleCare+. They ran a remote diagnostic, charged my card and that was it.

BTW, You call 1800-APL-Care and not 1800-My-Apple.

There are so many things wrong with this post that I don't even know where to start...

There's going to be a lot of angry, angry Sport watch owners in about 6 months.

I think it's just as handsome as the SS, in its own way, but it seems pretty fragile. I've seen threads here showing folks giving their SS watches big ol' dings and sanding/polishing it till it looks perfect.

The Sport is going to be a debacle for Apple. People paying $400 for a watch should be allowed to expect better than this.

People pay $600+ for an iPhone with the same durability...

You get what you pay for

I would have paid the extra $$$ for the black steel — but the freakin' unbelievable $499 for the black link band was out of the question. The watch that was the best option for anyone who works with their hands had a band that cost as much as the watch. Just unforgivable.

The part of the entire launch that pisses me off the most is the artificial marriages between case and band. Pick a case, pick a band. We're all smart enough to put it together ourselves.

When people buy Movados, Bulovas, Rolexes, etc, do they buy screen protectors? I know for a fact Movados and Bulovas screen will scratch because my brother scratched his screens and didn't know how. Are those watches bad design too?

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I think the difference is most of the watches such as those you mention have screens that are recessed even if so slightly below the dial.

Therefore, it's far more likely you'd hit the metal or whatever meterial the dial is made of rather than the glass.

With the apple watch the glass sticks up so high it's impossible to not hit it first In most scenarios.

To say I'm bummed would be an understatement. I'm currently trying to get some chat support to see if such extensive scratching just 5 days in is normal or not. Only thing I can think that happened was bumping into a the parking garage wall last night on accident. I know it's no sapphire, but surely ion-x glass should be more scratch resistant than this?

What on earth do some people do their devices? I've had mine since the 24th and it has zero scratches. I've not even tried to be anymore careful than I would be normally with something that expensive.
