Why would Apple be concerned that the inferior iPhone would not be selling as well as they thought.

Wouldn’t that imply the pro is the one being chosen? And that would mean more $$$ to Apple?

pro has also tanked in Japan. Total iPhone 14 sales value is down (according to nikkei shinbun) 69% from apple’s peak with the release of the 12 series, clearly not all due to the 14 plus.

I bought the pro max on release. Sent it back four weeks later and went back to my iPhone 11 Pro Max.

50% price rise for the same rank phone is nonsense.

2019 : iPhone 11pm with 256gb
=109,999 yen.
2022: iPhone 14pm with 256gb
= 179,999 yen.

They can take a long walk off a short pier AFAIAC.

I expect incredible new features that make this the best iPhone Apple had ever made. I expect the iPhone 15 to allow customers to do even more with their iPhone and pro users to have the tools they need to do even more incredible work on their iPhone.
Nice.

Yet regardless of such a great new photo sensor coming up it makes no sense to brag about it if only to have shoddy glass lenses not fine tuned to get the best quality image to the sensor.

Apple since the iPhone 12 has been playing checkers with camera lenses while Oppo, Song and so many others area partnered with top tier proven camera lens companies and really make some top end quality.

It’s getting embarrassing and this is JUST pics during sunlight.

So many other companies use "Pro" now, the Pro effect for Apple is gone.

I think it's alright to have a great iPhone 15 and a top spec iPhone 15 Ultra that isn't just a showcase for what iPhone 15 will get next year. The line-up could be iPhone 15 (you choose a mini, standard, or large screen) and iPhone 15 Ultra (1 size, the largest best screen, the best ***** phone in world).

Personally want a Product Red 🔴 iPhone Pro Max. The ‘Deep Purple’ iPhone pro 14 is damn near black. Let’s inject some life and pop into these phones, already!

USB-C? What is this new devilry? How did the mages at Apple devise such wondrous technology?

This isn’t because Apple wanted to make the planet better and give less frustrations to their consumers. It’s because EU wanted to implement some dang common sense. Honestly USB-C should have been universal long ago when it caught on. Now RCS messaging is on deck 👀

I moved directly from my beloved 8 to a 12 Pro and found it the right time move and a world of difference in performance, screen and overall experience. I can’t see anything yet to convince me to upgrade to a 14 or 15.

I'll say it again I think it's more likely we'll see portless phones, not USB C

I am waiting for an iPhone Pro starting at 256 GB at no additional cost. 2030 here I come. I guess USB-C iPhone will do until then.

You really didn’t see a difference between the 11 Pro and the 14 Pro? I’m not being sarcastic here. I updated from the standard 11 to the 14 Pro Max and I was blown away. 3 months in and I’m still blown away.

That's my plan as well. Looking forward to USB C and some photo improvements! :D Hopefully some noticeable battery life improvements as well.
The rumored 35% increase in battery life to me would be the only feature out of all the above to make it worth upgrading from my 12 and it wasn't even listed in the article. :(

If they get rid of the Pro models. What are we supposed to order?

iPhone Mini is no longer around. So we’re left with iPhone 15 Plus. 😞
I think the point is merging the two lines into one with all of the current/future Pro features and keeping the current iPhone 14 and 14 Plus pricing. Maybe drop the stainless steel for lighter aluminum. Maybe call them 15 Ultra (6.1”) and 15 Ultra Plus (6.7”).

How about 120hz on all models… Absolutely ridiculous to be selling a $900+ phone in 2023 without it, when $250-$300 androids have it…
That’s what happens when Apple goes overboard with withholding features to differentiate their ultra premium smartphone from their smartphone that still has a premium price but falls short of cheaper Android phones. It’s backfiring spectacularly with the 14. Maybe Apple will reach a point where consolidation of their two premium lines may become necessary.
