Bear in mind that in the same three years in my home rig, I went from a 512gb to a 2TB NVMe costing the same price. But no, Apple have to take the piss with their pricing.

A lot of that is preference, but I feel you on the above. Sometimes it sucks remembering how things used to / could be.

Thank you, Cpt. Obvious... :). When is making a choice whether or not to purchase a luxury good, not preference?

Also, a lot were actually objective measurements...

Objectively better macro by far
objectively stronger processing (which cannot be undone later)
Actually heavier device
actually sharper edges
actually thicker profile
actually bigger screen.
actually more intrusive Dynamic... (sorry, I puke a little bit in my mouth when I hear an adult say it) Island, that is visible in more playback media than the notch since it digs further into the image than the notch ever did.
This is especially egregious now that 21:9 is becoming more and more common for cinematic and gaming videos and is a backwards step.

But yes, you are right, it is preference.

It's possible that one would like non removable processing,
like a heavier device, like sharper, less comfortable edges,
like a thicker phone,
like a camera that intrudes more into their media.

The fact is that most of these are tradeoffs for the benefits of a bigger screen with thinner bezels, a more modern design and a bigger battery to offset the more powerful CPU.

Seeing the way China is using Face ID to control its population I will be keeping my trusty iPhone 8+ until Apple comes to it's corporate sense and brings back Touch ID.
Even if it means abandoning the whole Apple Ecosystem and moving to Samsung.
Big Tech corporations tend to have "15 years of fame".
IBM was king of the hill until they became fat and arrogant and were then ousted by Microsoft who in turn were overtaken by Apple. Watch out Apple, your turn is coming. Don't take your customers for granted.

Agree the only color I somewhat liked was SB. Still mostly looked gray but at least light gray. PB MG DP all look black or dark gray most of the time.
iPhone 14 Pro - Deep Purple
iphone 13 Pro - Sierra Blue
iPhone 12 Pro - Pacific Blue
iPhone 11 Pro - Midnight Green

This is for others wondering because I had forgotten myself. I also fully agree with the comment and very much dislike Apple’s misleading renderings showing these phones having more color than they actually do. Even the Sierra Blue, which I own, isn’t as bright as they make it seem. I still like it out of the four listed, though. Fingers crossed for something really special on the 15. We’ll see! But I’m not holding my breath.

You going to start buying your phones from IBM, Microsoft? Have at it.
I loved my windows phone, which was in-sync with my Xbox account, until they discontinued support due to lack of app development. It’s still my favorite mobile OS to this date. ‘Live Tiles’ was truly innovative and made the phone feel fun & alive instead of just a tool clicking on static icons for app launches.

I’d love to see a windows 10 phone.

Me too. I'm a big fan of inefficient charging and data transfer.
I didn't say I want it necessarily, just that I think it is coming
No, "portless" solves nothing because you still need to carry around a proprietary charging cable. The whole point of going to USB-C is you can use one charger & cable type for all your devices!

MagSafe charging is also significantly slower than USB-C charging, which will be particularly noticeable on big-battery devices like the iPhone Ultra.
It solves the issue of the space buttons and charging ports take, as well as limited waterproofing and dustproofing. We've already seen sim-less phones and rumours of solid state volume/lock buttons, so I don't think its unrealistic to imagine. Plus wireless charging and transfer speeds are always improving

The MagSafe induction coil actually takes up a large amount of space within the device: much more than a USB-C or Lightning port!
