between selling your 5 and getting a 5C, you probably will pay out of pocket a bit to quite a bit or at the very best break even. The c is maybe for cheap, color, china, but for you, it's just plain childish.

Assuming internals are the same, why would you do that? How would that be beneficial to you in any way? Even if you love the look of a blue plastic iPhone.

Just throw a plastic case on your 5 and call it a day.

Less trouble than touching the contract, buying/selling, paying out of pocket.

I know most 5 users won't, but to even consider it seems a bit silly to me. And vain

And then complaining Apple doesn't innovate, while supporting such a lateral if not downgrade move in Apple's release. I understand why they do to tap into the more price-sensitive segment and asia, but 5 users don't seem like a major part of the market they're appealing to.

The best democracy/forum for profitable companies is where your cash is the equivalent having a voice and shaping the way they go about business.

Yep.

This is MacRumors.

Not MacFacts.

:D

But I'm insulting people under the assumption that specs are the same and the body is the only thing hardly changed. It's a theoretical insult I suppose.

I'm not planning to buy one not with what we know about it currently.

But here's the twist.. what if it had better battery life?

Even if the specs are the same and the body is the only thing to change, maybe someone wants a colored phone? Calling someone a child for purchasing something they want is in fact childish.

That would be a good twist.

It'd have to depend how different the battery life is. If double, then maybe, possibly I'd at least consider it even if not do it That'd be pretty awesome. And JB would have to be available. But I'd still be slapping myself for the downgrade in the design.

But let's assume 20% more efficient or something marginal, nope.

I think lining a tech company's pockets on the basis of wanting a color change, and then complaining to anonymous people on a forum that Apple brings nothing new to the table ad nauseum, is childish.

Not to include you in that bunch of people, but I'm just saying.

Don't be upset, I really didn't mean to come out guns a blazing. The title is a bit strong I will admit, but eh.

You can insult the products I have and I won't change my mind. My iPhone 5, iPad 3, 2011 Air.

You would think that if they were going to make a 5C-like device that it would at least be as thin as the iPod touch.

The "C" gives people choice.

Choice is always good.

I do not understand why the 5C threatens people, but I do remember how the larger screen on the 5 did the same. :p

Most people aren't as enthusiastic about Apple or the iPhone as the Internet is.

• In a poll for a men's magazine, it was asked "What do you think about Apple?" 85% of people answered, "I couldn't care less."

• In another poll, it was asked about mobile phone preference, the strong majority of people preferred Android phones.

• In yet another poll, it was asked what interest did people have in the iPad mini. A strong majority of people did not care to buy it at all.

Well I wouldn't dream of selling my iPhone 5 for the 5C as there is no need. I think aesthetically the 5 looks a lot more premium if the spy shots are to be believed. It will serve a purpose but me selling my perfectly decent phone is favour of one is not going to happen :)

If you want to "upgrade" from the IP5, you'd get the IP5S.

The IP5C is the new low-cost IP5. Based on current rumors, there will be no reason to get that phone if you already have the IP5, unless you want a colored shell.

The IP5C is the next-generation replacement for the IP5.

I can understand how a 5c may be a disappointment for some.... Speaking from my standpoint.... I have been a long time Android user....but a lower priced iPhone will probably entice me to buy one. I can also see how a lower priced iPhone could penetrate new markets for Apple. :)

Going to be a lot of jealous people who can't afford a new phone so they post stuff like this to justify not buying one only the reason is there broke

Sure. Switching from 5 to 5C might not be such a good idea but if youre coming from 4 or 4S, it could be great.

As for childish. Sure. My 8 year old daughter is going to love the pink one. So why not?

I'll be keeping my 5 but depending on how it shakes out a 6C will likely be in my future next year.

Wouldn't this be anything that involves color?

Cars, house paints interior/exterior, carpet, furniture, clothes, etc...

Why line a paint companies pockets just to change the color of your living room? Is that what you are saying?

Seems weird too me that you can't grasp that might be a big deal for someone. When you bought your iPhone when they asked you what color you wanted did you say "whichever..."?

It all depends on the pricing - I think if you could sell your used 5 and pick up a new 5C at no cost to yourself (or even a slight profit), some people might be attracted to that, assuming the rumours are true and the 5C is internally identical (or maybe even mildly improved, with some of the design gremlins worked out after a year).

The plastic case doesn't horrify everybody; for some people it will be a lot more practical than all that scuffable aluminium, and they may well prefer the colourful look too.

I know my mother specified she wants the 5c over the 5s. Not because she can't have it but its a waste. Think about the following:
-tweens/teens
-more durable
-it has actually a good phone despite the criticism

Hes just one of those people that thinks if he doesn't like it, no one else should. Theres quite a few of them around here unfortunately.

I prefer the uniform look of the iPhone 5C to the iPhone 5's design and I can probably sell my iPhone 5 unlocked for a lot more than the 5C will cost. Not a hassle at all.

Because consumers will do what consumers will do. It's like trading in a perfectly working car for another perfectly working car. Both cars will get you from place to place, but sometimes change for the sake of change is welcomed.

Polls can be manipulated by the whom they target the polls at and by how the ask the question(s) in the poll.

Think of the reports where for Apple, it's the units sold and for other companies it's the units shipped even if they're sitting in stores or at a distributors warehouse.

And as for a iPad mini poll - remember not only is it competing with non iOS devices, it's also competing with the full size iPad. It's not what percentage in a poll like that, it's how many iPad minis can Apple sell? And the answer to that is more than enough to have made it a worthwhile product for them.

Apple are probably going to change a lot in this round.

That means offering 2 iPhones instead of 1. But there has to be a reason, otherwise it's pointless.

So the iPhone 5C will clearly be targeting the younger crowd on Colour, Cost and probably something else big that we don't know about yet.

The iPhone 5S will just continue the general improvements. If you have a 5 (like me) then this update doesn't really matter at all to be honest, it's more about iOS 7.
