5C = a waste of time and money... just doesn't make sense... go big or go home..

The 5c is an upgrade from the iPhone 4 which was released in June 2010. I agree with you there, but then again it should be. I feel like iOS7 GM slows down my iPhone 5 (compared to iOS6) so in year 1 the phone will probably be fine. If you sign a 2 year contract at $2,000 plus I would worry about the speed when iOS8 is released.

To suggest the 5c will only be good enough for 12 months is ridiculous, people are using iPhone 4/3gs still with no issues, hell my own iPhone 4 is still perfectly fine.

I'd love to get both the 5C and 5S, but the 5C is a little too high priced off contract for a backup phone.

Still - because I can get the early upgrade iPhone pricing, I might go for it at some point. I actually happen to like the colors, and besides all that I'm a device junkie.

By the end of 2013 I plan on having 4 smartphones - 2 iPhones and 2 Androids :p

OP, go with what YOU want and prefer. Going from the 4 to 5c will be an EXCELLENT upgrade. Heck, I was running iOS 7 on my 5 since the Beta was release, and since I sold it to prepare for purchasing the 5S, I've been on a 4S with iOS 6 and can't WAIT to be back with the 5S......IMO, even moving from the 4S with iOS 6 to the 5 with iOS 7 is a big upgrade.

Enjoy!

I'm very happy. The 5c IMHO should of been the iPhone 5 to pay tribute to the 3GS and allow time to perfect the current iPhone 5/5s design which is awful. The two tone colours are crap and make it look cheap. No doubt the iP5 is cheaper to make than the iP4/S and they're making a royal profit from it.

Hoping my 32GB Yellow 5c appears next Friday here in the office :).

Hi,
I currently have iPhone 4, ordered 5c this AM, 32gb. I am pretty excited about getting a new phone. I have thought about 5s, but am not sure I really care about the fingerprint and camera. My husband is a photographer, so my pics are usually for FB.

I realize the 5c is basically the 5, and like I said, I am excited, but after reading all these posts, will I be disappointed going from 4 - 5c? Should I cancel and get 5s 32gb?

Analysts are expecting shortages in the availability of the 5s, since the FP sensor is difficult to produce in huge numbers. You'll have the 5c much sooner than the 5s. This is why you can't even pre-order the 5s.

Our definitions of running fine are completely different. I'm just saying for a $100 difference which is not a lot of money that the speed difference will be much more noticeable in year 2 (that doesn't mean the phone won't be usable.)

Ahhh you're one of those people who worry about not having the latest model, I get it. And to quote yourself, peoples definitions of running fine are different, so getting the 5c is perfectly FINE in others opinion.

It is a good one now, but the phone's internals is based off of last years components - that's my only concern. When you're locked into a 2 year commitment, by the end of the 2nd year it may be a bit long in the tooth.

As I mentioned if it were me, I'd get the 5s, just because of the A7. I have an iPhone 5, so for me there's no reason to upgrade and I'm in mid contract anyways - I need to wait until next year to enjoy the subsidized pricing

Agreed. I would get the S over the C because of the better internals, metal body instead of plastic, and I don't like the colors of the C.

Personally, I think an extra $100 is worth the speed and difference the 5S has :) Plus, the gold color is a nice change!

Having second thoughts is perfectly normal.

That said, you've made an excellent choice. I would stay with it.

In my case I have an iPhone 5, and I buy the latest iPhone every year. But NOT this year, it's simply not wort it for a finger print sensor that I don't care for, and it would be a waste of my money since iPhone 6 is sure to be significantly better.

Apple's milked the same old design for four years. 4 / 4S / 5 / 5S. They cannot get away with it any longer or they will lose customers.

Your 5C is a very nice model which frankly I find far more exciting than the 5S.

Last of all don't buy into "it's last years technology". That's just bunk. Apple builds high quality long lasting phones. You don't have to have the "latest & greatest" when in fact the 5S is only a very minor change over the 5.

Enjoy your new 5C I think you'll be delighted :)

i currently have an iphone 5. My wife has a 4. I am giving her my 5 and upgrading to the 5S. Most likely gonna pick up the gold option (not really crazy about any of the options since white has become boring to me) but really wish the 5S came in the same color options as 5C cause I LOVE the green. :D

If you find you do not like the 5C you can always return it and get the 5S.

Give it a shot!:D

What you're proposing is somewhat of a self imposed purchasing trap.

It's some psychological principle, even before you order and you're just researching the options, you start feel like you own something. Returning or cancelling an order feels like a loss. Something as trivial as a plastic shell, colors, or a lower cost could be considered a loss.

That's why 30-day no-questions-asked returns policies usually sell stuff. People could return those items but they generally don't. Because its feels like losing something.

Better to make a calculated decision up front and not worry too much about it. What's important is that you are confident in the decision.

Weigh all the factors including price. $100 is not much, but it is a factor. With that $100 you can double your storage, or buy a few decent meals. Or consider that savings as something you put towards a new ipad that will have a lot of the 5s technology in it. On the other hand, you may have performance demands that would point you towards the 5s.

I personally am going to wait to see and test in stores and let other people test for me.

Good advice.

I really don't get all the "last years tech" hate - at the end of the day the 5C has just slotted into the same price spot that "last year's iPhone" always takes, except this year the tech has actually improved - whatever you think about the plastic shell, the increased LTE coverage, improved FaceTime camera and slightly bigger battery are actually improvements over the iPhone 5, so in that sense buyers of the 5C are getting relatively newer technology and a better deal than last year's buyers of the 4S, or people who bought the 4 the year before.

And since when did iPhones ever become obsolete or unusable after a year, or even two, or three? They're all solid phones backed up by very efficient high quality software, they don't just drop dead after 12 months or even at the end of a two year contract. The 5C will carry on being a relevant and well supported phone for many years.

To suggest the 5c will only be good enough for 12 months is ridiculous, people are using iPhone 4/3gs still with no issues, hell my own iPhone 4 is still perfectly fine.

My iPhone 1 on iOS 3 is doing reasonably well till this very day. So the 5C will last for a long time. Maybe not officially supported by Apple for as long as the 5S, but you'll easily get 2-3 years out of it, if not more.

I got 2 5c unlocked Sim free versions for me and my girlfriend.
White for me and pink for her.I change phones every year but for some reason I wanted to skip 5s this year. I might just buy it on 20th but I m kind of excited about the 5c. I still wish they had it like 449 or 499 for 5c and 549 for 5 and 649 for 5s but I guess its fine. Its still excessively over priced in Asia and europe. One arguement for that is that the Asian currencies have depreciated greatly in past few weeks.

YES YES YES.

I think you must be very stupid to buy a last year specced phone with such a high price.
Wow, how insulting.

Consider that not everyone needs or wants a fingerprint sensor, and the camera upgrade is one of those things you need to know you really care about. As for the processor, if you don't do processor-intensive stuff, you won't notice the difference. For instance, I don't play things like Infinity Blade. How much faster will Bejeweled be on the 5s than the 5c?

And I'm not a fan of the aluminum body of the 5/5s, so the more durable plastic body of the 5c is more appealing. I know I will obsess over scraping up the pretty aluminum where the plastic is going to take much more to mark it up. I don't want to hear "put it in a case," either.

I'd rather get the 5S. If you're locking yourself into a 2 year contract, it's better to have the latest technology.

You've waited 3 years to upgrade 2. Now in 2 more years, you'll again have 3 year old tech.

Maybe sell the 5C and get a 5... Still 2 year tech upgrade, and pocket a couple hundred dollars.

Or just get the 5S. What extra you pay you'll receive some of when you go to resell.

Also, you can just get a cover for a 5 or 5S, and it's still no thicker than 5C. You can change them up if it gets scratched, whereas you're stuck with scuffed plastic 5C.

YES YES YES.

I think you must be very stupid to buy a last year specced phone with such a high price. Do yourself a favour and cancel your order and wait at least for the 5s or note 3 or lg g2 or something worth spending 550 or a 2 year contract.

Really just cancel it.

REALLY: there's no need to be rude. Not everyone totally discounts the look of a phone versus the chip spec, you know. It's a choice. Further, the 5C is updated from the 5. Maybe you failed to notice the specs including build quality of the 5C's body. Finally, for many people (including me), their own past iPhone experience has demonstrated that the iPhones hold up well technically over the usual 2 year contract period, and for years longer than that will make fine phones or WiFi devices. So let up a little for goodness' sake.

5C = a waste of time and money... just doesn't make sense... go big or go home..

I could not disagree more. Pick the device, the specs, the color that you like. All those things figure into value for cost. Period.

I have a 5 just now but I've ordered a 5C. I like a black face on my iPhone but I took a white 5 because of the scuffs on my first black 5 out of the box. Even so, I've had to really look after it to be it looking half decent. I have ordered a white 5C that has a more durable case and a black face.

So for me I get a phone i don't have to handle with gloves on.

To suggest the 5c will only be good enough for 12 months is ridiculous, people are using iPhone 4/3gs still with no issues, hell my own iPhone 4 is still perfectly fine.

100% agree. Especially for someone like me who would only use it to browse the web, youtube, and text and talk!! My 3GS has lasted me 4 years though it's almost fallen apart and won't always pick up wifi lol...I will still keep it as my lil brother plays games on it lol

You are extremely rude.

You probably won't even use the power of the 5S...only by the time iPhone 6 comes out will most applications actually start using its power, and by then it will be obsolete...so unless hardcore gaming is something you're into, stick with the 5C.
