Taking into account what a Ups driver earns any driver with a quarter of a brain wouldn't risk his job to steal your phone. He can earn almost what your phone is worth in one day of work with overtime.

So are they shipping you a new one? Or it's just whenever they find the stolen one? Wow. If it's the latter I would be very disappointed my friend. It's either just a really bad week for you or your getting karma *********

They told me that I will receive a new iPhone 5s soon... And I got a free $40 dollar leather case out of the deal... So I'm fine, but it was disappointing. Hopefully the person who stole my phone is having a great deal of fun with it! I would also hope that apple could somehow track it down, but I never had a chance to activate it in the first place...

That's good. And they will get theirs.

Um, that won't actually work, since Activation Lock has not been set up on the device yet.

If I recall correctly, if its an upgrade device, then the owner needs to input their last 4 social security number and the zip code before the device gets activated

If its a factory unlocked device, then the thief can probably use it as if it was his/her

Yes they told me they will expedite getting me a new phone too. Hopefully that means we're at the front of the line. A week ago I called to add next day delivery to my order but it was too late. So they gave me a free case too. When this happened, they offered me a JBL bluetooth mini speaker. While disappointed I'm very pleased by how Apple customer service has been treating me.

Drivers are paid extremely well. The guys who deliver to me are very kind. They know exactly which packages are phones, he even said, "I hope you enjoy your new phone."

Next time open the package in front of the driver before signing anything. You might look like a dick, but its a lot of $$$$.

Most delivery people will not allow you to open a package claiming TIME RESTRAINTS. I've tried it and they just spin around on their heels and depart.

What I do is look at the box and if anything looks off - I sign next to may name OPEN BOX that covers me when I place a complaint. Been doing that for years.

Good idea :) thanks

Aaaaah, my bad.

Thanks for your usless input! Yeah, I would steal my own iPhone and then post on here....! And I guess using the word stolen is pretty severe huh? I apologize, I guess the phone could have accidentally fallen out of the brown box and then taped itself up again...

His input was valid as you outright accused the driver of stealing your package. The theft could of taken place at any number of stops along the way.

It's also naïve to believe that someone isn't capable of stealing the phone and then coming on here and making a post such as yours. Do you honestly believe every thread here on MR is 100% true?

Sounds like you're being taken care of and that's a good thing but next time maybe tone down the direct accusation a bit as there is no proof of any individuals guilt.... or innocence ;)

Last week, I had 2 phones delivered, on different days:

For both , I specified in my authorization release (via UPS's Choice Member settings) to leave it near my garage.

Both days I was home (though my car wasn't visibly present).

For the first phone, the UPS driver knocked hard on my door.

For my second phone, the UPS driver didn't bother knocking on my door. And of course, the UPS driver left it on my front porch in plain sight (I live on a busy street with lots of pedestrian traffic).

Luckily I was home...I heard the UPS truck and went outside. ARGHHH

UPS just like FedEx weighs your package at least twice and they would be able to go back and see when it was stolen because of a difference in weight.

I already apologized to him!

I was not aware of this, and that's good to know!

My iphone 5s was also stolen before delivery although I never got the box. UPS claimed to have delivered to my office and someone signed for it. The guard said they did not receive any deliveries for me that day. Apple support told me the phone was activated under my name! They have told me to file a police report before they can send a replacement. Very frustrating.

Sucks but the last guy that would take it is the driver. Trust me the value of the phone is nothing when you look at their income/pension/benefits.

UPS knows when your phone went missing in their supply chain as they weigh your package at least twice.

It is not near what it used to be. UPS let go it's higher paid people in the last few years and it shows

There was likely no reason to repeat your point. It had been said already that the phone could have gone missing at any point during delivery. As for UPS layoffs, they didn't lay off all of their higher paid people but they did lay off some.

I wonder if the OP ever did get his new iPhone though. I assume he did since he's not here moaning about it.

Its very simple. Apple should install an identity chip within the handset so this gets scanned through the box thus ensuring the handset ( the actual handset too!) is safe in the box. Its not hard to implement in my opinion.

You heard it here first!! ;)

I did not repeat this to upset you, the first reply was month ago and I did not go all the way through the tread and read it again.

My source at UPS said they churned 40% of this drivers, the highest paid with the most years in service.

Oh forgot, The SOX RULE!
