I still don't see why Apple would feel its a necessity to put 2GB in the 6+ and not in the iPad Air. It would definitely help with safari tabs reloading though. Especially since iOS8 is supposed to be a more efficient OS than the last.

because the iPhone always gets it first. the new iPads come out next month.

RAM is actually part of the A8 processor... It's not a part that you can just switch. If the iPhone 6+ has the A8 then it has got 1GB of ram just as the iPhone 6.

Others say it's not part of the processor. What is your source?

It's a necessity to future proof it and not end up like iPhone 4 or iPad 3. Both had 4x pixels with previous gen specs leaving less available RAM.

If there are 2GB of ram in this thing, I see myself not upgrading to the 6S Plus next year, unless they really succeed in knocking my socks off. If we only have 1GB in this thing, I see them adding that additional (maybe more? lol one can dream) in next year's model, in which case I will be wanting that upgrade.

Oh the first world problems. The struggle is real.
