But it's too big!

Why is it that the iPhone needs to be bigger to get a better battery but on the Macs, the smaller device gets the better battery????

Are you guys running 8.1.1 or 8.1?

I've had a 6 plus for about a month and a half now, and my battery life has gotten progressively worse. I haven't installed any new apps, nor am I using the phone differently. My usage time has gone from 10-11 hours to 7-8 if I'm lucky. I usually charge my phone when it's around 15-20%.

I'm on 8.1.1 if that helps, but was on 8.0.2 (where I enjoyed previously good battery life, then it started to degrade randomly). Any advice would be appreciated.

I get at least six hours of 'screen on' time from my iPhone 5 with an 18 month old battery, so this 7-8 hours with a 6+ doesn't sound too amazing. Shouldn't this thing be hauling for over 10 hours?

No, you don't want to drain the battery to near empty, that's bad for the battery. You're better off charging it more frequently when it's at a higher percentage.

Poppycock. These batteries have an inbuilt protection circuit so they switch off before the voltage gets critical. The more times you charge a battery the faster it will deteriorate, so you're far better off getting as much use out of each charge as possible. I regularly run my battery flat and it has shown me zero problems. It always registers the correct percentage and I can remain on 1% for as long as I can remain on 20%. If you never let your battery drain completely you will encounter strange percentage readings and more to the point, what's the use in having a bigger battery if you cripple yourself by not using the full capacity? If it ever breaks then buy a new one! Mine has perfect health at 18 months old and is drained completely several times per week.

6+ After a day of 70-80% WiFi usage and 20-30% LTE. LTE seems to be draining my battery the most. Not too shabby today considering the fact I didn't listen to any music..

Poppycock? Perhaps you should do some actual research on battery technology before spewing out nonsense.

Running lithium ion batteries down to near empty is worse than running them down to say 50%, and charging it twice.

So you enjoy getting a much shorter usage time than stated then? Bravo. The batteries themselves have protection circuitry to prevent any mishaps, and they're cheap as chips to replace. Like I say, my 18 month old battery is in excellent health and has been through 744 charge cycles...and I regularly run it until power off. Two to three times a week in fact. People obsess about batteries.

Oh really? Have you even read Battery University website? I highly recommend that you do and get a better understanding how lithium ion battery works. It's not like we are using the NiCd where you have to drain it every time. Lithium batteries does not have "Memory effect".

What you are doing actually does more harm than good. If you fully drain the battery every time, that actually is much worse and shortens your battery life.

Indeed it has the protection circuit but that only protects the lithium battery from being overcharged.

If you compared to someone who uses 40-50% and then charge vs. full drain each time. Guess who will have a better battery health? Definitely not yours, and someone who uses 40-50% of the battery each time will likely have better battery life than yours.

If you can provide as a link to your source where a full drain each time is better then please educate us.

I never said that a full drain every time is better, and nor do I do that myself. I use my phone and don't fret when the battery percentage reaches 50% and go scrambling for my charger. My battery health is amazing quite frankly for such a heavily used powerpack, and I can't imagine that it would be any better if I had obsessively babied it. My personal experience over 4+ years of using iPhones tells me that how I operate the batteries causes them no harm. Also, if I had to replace them after 12-24 months because I had damaged them in any way, then the small cost wouldn't bother me at all. Compared to halving my battery life by charging at 50%, the massive increase in usability would be more than worth the $15 outlay on a new battery.

Hey guys! Bought an iPhone 6 plus on Sunday and I was wondering what your thoughts are on my battery life. Do you think this is good? Wifi always on, auto brightness off, no background app refresh, no push email! Thanks :)

Mine is a little better than I expected from a rather fragile thin phone. There's no point in talking about how long it lasts since usage and so many other variables are at play.

Once Apple builds an iPhone as thin as a piece of paper, perhaps that'll be the turning point and they'll go back to something with better battery life.

It would be so easy for them to feature the best battery life of any smartphone, but Apple is so obsessed with being thin it's hampered their creative thinking.

An example, I used to have to charge my 5S in the middle of the day, so essentially I would charge it twice a day.
The 6 plus from 5AM-3:30PM I'm at 80-85%.
By the end of my day around 10PM I'm Sittin at around 65-74%.(Wi-Fi usage all the time at home.)
And I use my iPhone heavy at work (emails, posts, texts,LTE Internet usage,-Not on Wi-Fi). And it varies to that degree, precisely, because I would constantly check it in disbelief like, yea this battery life is happening!:apple:

You won't be disappointed with it, that I can guarantee! Even the screen brightness is at about a little over a 1/2, and its defined and crisp. I just couldn't get over how I used to be hooked up half the time with the 5S and made sure I had a spare battery pack charger or outlet to keep my phone up for work. 6 plus is soooo much better in this field, and in so many other categories. Now storage and color is all on you!:p

Let me ask this. My 6 goes to 80% quickly then creeps to 100%. is the 6+ like that too and if so how long to get to 80%?

As the 6+ battery lasts a full day of intensive use, just charge it whilst you sleep and there will be no issues. It takes twice as long to charge as my iPhone 5 did, but then again the battery lasts more than twice as long so it's a fair trade off!
