I pre-ordered the 64gb Black 6 Plus online and got it via UPS. 2 year contract upgrade through AT&T. I didn't enjoy the size but LOVED everything else. After fondling some iPhone 6's I knew I had chosen wrong.

I drove to the closest Apple Retail Store today not knowing what to expect. I arrived an hour before they opened to find about 20 people ahead of me. I had my 6 Plus in my breast pocket and naturally my line mates struck up a conversation about it, asking to hold it, try a pocket test, etc. I obliged and all of the people wanting a 6 Plus changed their mind.

I got to say, Apple fans are some of the coolest, friendliest people I know.

I was in and out of the store in 45 minutes with a new 64gb iPhone 6 Space Grey in hand, it was possibly the most enjoyable time waiting in line, the smoothest process to do the exchange, the coolest Apple employees.

Days like today are reasons why I love Apple!

Did they refund and then buy again? Or just exchange? Like did you have to check your upgrade eligibility again when getting the 6 after returning the plus? How did this process work?

You must be new. Because this kind of thing has been happening since Apple started offering iPods in different capacities and colors. There's never been anything even remotely resembling solidarity, especially around product launches. Just look at how badly gold iPhone buyers got trashed a couple years ago for example.

Nope! It was extremely easy. The employee took everyone's phone request in line before they opened. I told him my situation and he said it would be no problem. I got in the store, the other employee I worked with just asked for my online confirmation number for the Plus, got my serial number, AT&T info, and got me a 6 and the SIM inside it was already activated for my AT&T Account/Number. I was really impressed at how simple it all was.

Oh yeah, and they refunded me 106 dollars for the difference in the price.

I also had a decent 'change' experience. I did not give up my 6+, I just had to return and re-buy it to use the proper contract as I had picked a line not eligible for upgrade.

It took some time waiting for someone who could take care of me, but the actually process took less than a half hour.

I need to do this too. Did you order thru Apple or Att? And exchanged thru Apple? I thought if you ordered thru Att you have to go back to Att.

I had a positive experience as well and essentially walked in and out with a 6 without a prior reservation. Got lucky. The Apple employees were joking around and helping people so waiting 30 minutes for the transaction to happen didnt feel bad at all. With the "text when ready" process, I just played with both models making sure I made the right decision.

I didn't even use caps. Why does my post appear to you as enraged? Because I made a point that counters where you stand on an issue? That's called an opinion buddy, and everyone has one.
